Rick Edstrom trained us in 2010. We have recently bought a cottage in WI and Lucky growls at every person that passes the house or enters the house. She growls at family members and is very protective of her bed. rnAlso, the drive up north is 90 min and she never relaxes.....very anxious. rnShe is excellent on AND off leash and listens to commands sit, stay, come, drop.rnShe will wait for humans to walk out before she walks out.....same with stairs. She chews on NOTHING. rnWe would like for her to be relaxed, not so nervous, and not growling at people. She is very lovable when not anxious.

Checkers has always been afraid of elderly people despite being socialized early, and we can't seem to make any progress. She is a timid dog by nature but very friendly. We've even had to work on jumping on people in her early years because she wants to greet everyone--except older people. When one of our older neighbors tries to get close, she tries to run away and gets very nervous. When my mother in law comes to visit with other family, she will approach everyone but her. Eventually she'll warm up to her, but it takes a day and lots of treats. She has never been abused (we got her at 8 weeks) and is a sweet and loving dog. Why is she so afraid of elderly people and how to we make progress? I hate that so many people assume she has had a traumatic past when she has been with us in a loving home from the start.
