This question is about: Toileting

Our cockapoo is pretty picky about going out on the grass when it is wet. In fact, she absolutely refuses to go when there is dew on the grass or after a rain. This behavior has just started within the last six months. After becoming frustrated with her refusal to do her business on wet grass, and consequently pooping in the house, I began picking her up and carrying her into the middle of the yard, and then she would go. Now, after having been carried out a few times, she is becoming reluctant to go off the porch at all, regardless of the moisture level on the grass. Help!

This question is about: Toileting

We almost had our dog almost fully potty trained, then all of a sudden she regressed. She will not use it outside, we tried puppy pads and she will pee on them like 4 out of 10 times. What would cause that and how do I fix it.

Lulu showed up on my son's doorstep in 2009. After locating her owner, he was told by the that they no longer wanted her because she was constantly running away. He gave her to us for Christmas. She was unable to be crated when we got her....she chewed the bars and the saliva pool in the crate was unbelieveable. She went through screen windows to get out. She went through side vent flaps on window air conditioners. She tore up every curtain in the house that was near a window. One evening, I came home to find her on the roof (the building contractor left one of the upstairs windows over the porch open, although it was screened.) The vet recommended medication. The medication made her a bit mean. Not biting, just unfriendly. I lost my husband following a prolonged illness. Her behaviors went off the charts. I've just been trying to maintain. And, I've been trying to be the pack leader. She's really great, in so many ways. She wanted only to be outside. ALL of the time. And, I needed to do something to keep her from destroying my house while I was gone. I got a kennel for her and a dog house. She didn't love it but would go in it over staying inside. I worked. She preferred her outside run line to the kennel. I do adore her. I'm not sure she likes me so much! She's not a cuddly dog. Now, I've moved to another state. I have a lovely fenced in yard. Now. She ONLY wants to be outside. I have her dog house out there....and I leave the door to the garage open as well. I walk her twice a day. Good walks. When I bring her in after our evening walk, about 6 p.m., she paces, pants, salivates, whines...over and over and over...to get back outside. She got a part of a rabbit in the yard the other day (I'm sorry; it made me sad, but she's a hound dog and the rabbit must have been in the yard.) So, my question, you'd like to know? I toss up my hands. I don't know what to do. I love her but there's a part of me that wonders why I have a dog if she only wants to be outside and doesn't really feel a strong bond with me. Her constant whining and pacing is getting to me. Now she won't eat unless it's outside. When cold weather comes, she will have to stay in. And, I hope to be at work again. I'm scared about what she'll do to the house! Again, I love Lulu....but I'm so frustrated. I can't give a dog with behavior issues to someone else. I will not take her to the shelter. I want her! But, it's hard on my own and I'm not sure what to do anymore...
