This question is about: Toileting

Hello! I am a night shift RN at St. Jude and I have a particular question regarding crate training on a nurse schedule. I am considering crate training for my new puppy (will be home November 10) and I have read a lot about it. I didn't crate train my other two dogs, and haven't really figured out the "hype" about crate training. I work nights (Saturday and Sunday only), and unfortunately my boyfriend has the same schedule. Is it appropriate to leave the puppy that is otherwise being "crate trained" in a gated room, with the crate door open with a puppy pad in the room while we are at work? I have a doggie door that he will eventually use, however my older dog Shasta (6 yrs) is home and out while we are away too and leaving the two dogs together unsupervised is a big no no at first. Any advice of how to correctly tackle our schedules and a new puppy with potty training would be greatly appreciated.

This question is about: Aggression to a dog or other animal or where the dog is aggressive to the owner or a stranger Barking at people, dogs, animals, birds or where the dog barks for attention or at the slightest noise Pulling on the Lead

My dog has a few issues that I am concerned about. I have a 1 year old son who moves around but my dog has an aggression toward him so we have to keep him outside. So now he's becoming aggressive toward me and my family. Also he has a food aggression to where you can't even be in the same room. So I'm not sure what to do or how to handle it because I don't want to give him away.

Every time my mom and I walk my walk and another dog goes by he'll go crazy. He'll bark and get really aggressive. His hackles will rise and he won't listen to my mom. When he was young he was separated from his brothers and since then he hasn't had any contact with other dogs. We've tried almost anything from spray bottles to clickers but he just won't listen. I want to be able to go on normal walks without him going crazy. Is there anything we can do to stop this?

Hello, rnI have a one year old Chiweenie, maybe 10 lbs. She is new to our home.Shes been with us for about two weeks now, a little less. She is the sweetest dog, potty trained, and loves attention. rnI work a normal 8 hour shift every day, and after that i play with her as much as a i can. sometimes i work 8 hours, go home to play for about an hour, and work another job for a couple of hours. I have been crating her during this time because she chews a bit, still. rnShe has been sleeping with us at night because i crate her during the day. i prefer her not to sleep in bed because shes a bit hyper (licks a lot), but i dont know how to prevent it. I dont want to crate her 8 hours and then all night too! i live in an apartment and would like to avoid chewing mishaps :) I want her to have to happiest life possible, but i dont want to crate her too much. how should i train her?rnrnmy best contact is email please.
