I am at a loss. I really need your help. This has seriously become a life or death situation for my dog. I adopted Marmaduke from a shelter when he was three months old. He is now on his way to turning two in December. He is a Labrador/ Great Dane mix. When he was a puppy he was very well socialized, loved other people and other animals. The only health problems that he has, that I know of, are skin problems, and he also has lax tendons in his hind legs which cause him to be flatfooted, and to have bad hips. The vet has told me that because of this problem, he is not allowed to jump, run, or go on longs walks, basically preventing excercise. Anyways, when he was a puppy he was a very obedient dog right off the bat. But in the past 7 months, since he has reached the age of adolescence, I have noticed a startling change in his behavior. It started at first as growling at my sister, but I always corrected him on it. Then it became snapping at her, then other people, and now it had escalated very recently to full blown attacking. He has changed from a loving dog, to a viscous beast. He now has to wear a wire caged muzzle at all times when he is around other people, or other animals. He tries to attack the dogs he grew up with, and the people in this house, that he has known since he was three months old. He even went so far as to try and kill our pit bill. He has also bitten my aunt and my uncle. He has become completely out of control and when I try to correct him and train him, it has no effect on him. It seems anything will set him off; someone walking upstairs, someone trying to pet him, etc. For example, one time my boyfriend was petting Marmaduke, and he was perfectly content mind you, then all of a sudden he jumps up on my boyfriend and starts trying to attack him. Thankfully he had his muzzle was on. All of these attacks were completely unprovoked, and it seems any measure that I do to correct the problem isn't working. I bought a crate and I make him sleep in it at night, I make him wear a muzzle, I've tried to assert dominance over him, I've tried to remove him from the situation, nothing works! I even went to the vet and they said his tests came back normal and this problem was most likely behavioral. I currently don't get paid enough to afford an expensive behaviorist. I will happily get a second job if need be, but I want to exauhst all of my options first. If nothing works in the end, the only option left is to put him down. Please help! Are there any training tips you can give me to eliminate this behavior? I don't want to loose my dog!

Hogan has become very possessive over me and my things. In my family we have 5 dogs 2 small breed and 3 large. She will allow the small dogs to be in my lap or close to me but the other 2 larger dogs are not aloud to get close to me. An if I have something that is mine like my boots that I have taken off at the door. She will guard them and not let the other dogs get close to them. My question is why is she doing this. I can see why she is that way with me but my stuff too? I would like to understand better. Thank you

My puppy is a bit aggressive towards me - biting, lunging, etc. It usually occurs at 7PM. Any suggestions? I play with him, I am training him at home and he goes to doggy day care about 1/week. Ann
