This question is about: Aggression to a dog or other animal or where the dog is aggressive to the owner or a stranger Hyperactivity Puppy Management

Hello, I have a neutered Akita/Rottie puppy. He is decently well trained, as we have taken him to obedience training class since we first got him. He is well socialized and loves other dogs, but is shy around strangers. He is generally a very sweet and affectionate dog who is intelligent but is very much a puppy. However, sometimes he randomly becomes aggresively playful as if he is play fighting with other dogs. He seems to do this to my mother especially, and recently even drew blood. Whenever I see him act up like this, I scold him and put him on time-out. However, I am never present when he does this to my mom and he can get very rough with her. I do not know how to stop this, and I am considering getting a shock collar.

This question is about: Aggression to a dog or other animal or where the dog is aggressive to the owner or a stranger Separation Anxiety Other

I am having some socializing issues with Bubba. I didn't take him to the dog park until he was a little over a year and he won't stop his behavior even now that he's almost two. He tucks his tail in and growls at every dog and person. He won't leave my side. We've gone almost twice a week since he was a little over a year. He won't play with other dogs. He smells the other dogs but won't let them smell him and people have left the dog park because of these behaviors. I thought he would be able to socialize naturally and figure it out and I don't know how to teach him. I also feel like he doesn't respect me or see me as the boss. He has never tried to bite anyone or any dog but he growls at everyone.

This question is about: Aggression to a dog or other animal or where the dog is aggressive to the owner or a stranger Sibling Rivalry - aggression or fighting between dogs in the same household

Hi! I have a lab mix whose 8 years old and a chihuahua mix who's 5, they've been best friends for the last 5 years , I'm now 7 months pregnant and my lab has started acting aggressive toward my chihuahua , they have always played together, ate out of the same food dish, slept together, pretty much best friends. Yesterday I was hanging up clothes in the bedroom and they were both fine (in the same room as me ) my chihuahua walked past my lab and for no reason my lab snapped, he started attacking my chihuahua and ended up biting his ear and making him bleed (we were lucky that was it). My first instinct was to keep my lab outside from now on during the day and then bring him in at night just to sleep since my chihuahua is crate trained and doesn't run loose at night , but u tried that yesterday and now both dogs are depressed, they sit at the window and cry wanting to play with each other... in the past 5 years this has only happened 3xs but this last time was worse than the other 2 so I'm not sure what to do, I do not want to get rid of either of them they are both completely a part of the family, but my husband and I are just so worried that our lab will end up attacking him again and next time it will be worse. Is there any advice you can give us on what to do? Also how much would training for something like this run us and do you think it would be beneficial since the two of them do not typically have problem? Thanks so much in advance! -Lindsay Steck
