This question is about: Aggression to a dog or other animal or where the dog is aggressive to the owner or a stranger Barking at people, dogs, animals, birds or where the dog barks for attention or at the slightest noise

Hi! Romeo is a older guy that we adopted a about six months ago, and he is really starting to lose his vision. It says on his papers that he used to love people and only bark at cars, but now every time we take him for a walk he begins to aggressively bark, and even snap at strangers; sometimes he even bites me very hard if I try to calm him. I understand that he is probably just scared, but I'm so afraid of him biting people that I don't let anyone pet him. Since it's been a while since he's been properly socialized, I'm not sure where to begin, and I haven't found any great answers online for blind dogs specifically. How should I go about training him to stay calm on walks and around strangers?rnPlease help!

My dog is working towards her Community CGC certification. We passed the basic CGC but her anxiety makes it difficult to keep her focused and relaxed when we practice loose leash walking. She never completely shuts down, but she gets close to the threshold occasionally. (She is on Clomicalm due to her anxiety because she was plagued with it as a rescue dog when I adopted her 2 years ago. Time, pills, and skills have helped her become more confident and advanced in her training to this point.) Would working on her engage and disengage skills help redirect her so we can achieve focus without being conquered by her anxiety? Or would you recommend working on another skill to help us be more successful?

This question is about: Aggression to a dog or other animal or where the dog is aggressive to the owner or a stranger

My dog makes no sense to me with her aggression. She can be very nervous and growl when someone comes into the house and eventually get over it and go about her business, or she can be totally fine and even friendly with her tail wagging at company and then suddenly run up bite them and then run away. rnShe came from an abusive own who apparently caged her and left her to sit in her own urine and feces for long periods of time and was from what I understand not really ever shown much affection. She has adjusted well to moving into her new home and has for the most part been a total sweetheart to my boyfriend and I, but she has bitten my friend and today bitten my dad! I'm furious over this and don't know what to do about it. rnNeither my dad or my (also male) friend were near her or even made any loud or sudden movements to provoke her. It happened both times when they went to open my door and leave.. I'm at a loss as to what to do at this point.. It's like she knows her behavior is bad because the second she does it she cowers on the floor almost waiting to get hit- which I never have done, I've certainly yelled at her though which snaps her out of her sudden aggressive behavior.rn I'm just not sure what to do anymore I'm worried about the behavior, and what else she will do or if she will bite anyone else and it get worse. Please help!

This question is about: Aggression to a dog or other animal or where the dog is aggressive to the owner or a stranger Barking at people, dogs, animals, birds or where the dog barks for attention or at the slightest noise

We have the dog sit while we are putting food down and then release him to eat. He has growled in the past (not regularly) when someone that doesn't live with him is in the vicinity of his food. But over the past year he has growled at my 9 year old on occasion when he is feeding him and he has started to growl at me occasionally when I come over to take over for my son. My son fed him today and my dog growled at him so I went over and told my son to move. My dog kept growling and started barking at me and continued to growl, that I was a little scared at his barking and wondering if he was going to carry it further. We did bring another dog into the home 10 months ago but he has no food aggression towards her and this doesn't happen every time we feed him. Any suggestions to his behavior and how to fix it?
