This question is about: Puppy Management Toileting

I rescued a puppy from the streets of Kathmandu after she was hit by a car. She's perfectly healthy now and living in my 11th floor apartment. There's not a lot of grass in the city, and like many other Nepali dog owners I've had to teach the puppy to use a corner of the patio as a bathroom. I do take her outside at least twice a day for over an hour to walk and play and relax. In those times, she will only go to the bathroom if absolutely necessary. She will hold it to the point of getting anxious and immediately go when she gets back in the apartment. On our long walks she often stops to smell where other dogs have marked or defecated and when we play with her dog friends they often pee right in front of her, but she never goes in response. I'll be taking her home with me soon to Missouri, where lawns are the only appropriate place to go. How can I teach her that walks and grass are great places to use the bathroom?

My dog Bailey is 4 months old and is a welcomed bundle of joy. Most of the day she is a dream, but at night is a different story. She has only slept through the night three times since we have had her in the last two months. She sleeps in our bed with us, but she is taken on 2 walks a day, played with, and goes to training and socialization classes on a weekly basis. She wakes up and relieves herself outside, but then she plays by herself for hours on end. She is crated when we are at work for no more than 3-4 hours at a time, so she is not sleeping for an extended amount of time during the day. Please help, I am in desperate need of sleep.
