Hi there!rnrnI have had my dog since she was 6 months old (a rescue puppy that came in with her mom and sister), and she has always been a little people-shy, particularly of men. However, she and I are very closely bonded. Almost a year ago, a guy I went on a couple of dates with ended up coming over to my place. However, I quickly found myself in a little bit of a dangerous situation with some unwanted attention. My dog sensed my discomfort and while she never bit him or anything, she did bark and jump on him and may have been part of the reason why my situation didn't escalate to something more serious. While she had been a little wary of other guy friends and dates who had come to the house before, she had never been quite so aggressive towards them. Since then, she has been even more protective of the house and more distrustful of strangers. The other day, however, my roommate (who moved in a couple of months after the incident) had a female friend staying at the house while we were out. The friend stepped out into the backyard to enjoy the sunshine for a minute, but when she was ready to head back inside, my dog snarled at her, wouldn't let her in, and tried to bite her. My roommate had to run home from work to calm my dog down, but my dog was apparently so shaken up, that she was aggressive with my roommate at first as well until she was strongly reprimanded. As I am a young female, I do want my dog to be able to protect me when I'm on my own. However, I'm so scared that she will end up biting someone out of fear, particularly while I'm away and can't monitor her and the situation. I would never want anyone to get hurt or for her to get taken away for being an aggressive animal when she's sweet 99% of the time. When she is introduced to strangers, I try to be around and have them give her treats. She approaches them - not the other way around - while I am petting and reassuring her, and if we're out of the house, I don't make her meet anyone she doesn't want to if she's not in a friendly mood for the day. Do you have any other recommendations to help her be less fearful of the right strangers while still serving as a little bit of a guard dog? Thank you so much for your advice and help!

Hi I was wondering why this is happening. My girlfriend and I got our puppy 3 weeks ago. I am in between jobs at the moment so I have been with our puppy all day every day taking care of her while my girlfriend works for 8 hours 5 days a week. I don't know why but our puppy gives my girlfriend a lot of kisses and doesn't seem to be interested in kissing me. She even will kiss my sister more than she does me. I just wanted to see if there was any reason behind this. It makes me really bummed because it makes me feel like she doesn't love me as much even though I have been her primary care taker. I know she likes me because she does other things that make me see it but she doesn't like to kiss me. Please let me know if there is a reason behind this due to some sort of behavior. Thanks!

We just recently moved into an apartment, and we are having problems leaving Duke home alone . We leave him in a kennel with toys, but no matter what he barks and howls. Its not continuous, but it is about every 10 minutes. We know this because we have put video cameras to watch him. He usually doesn't dark otherwise ,so we are thinking it is separation anxiety. We have no idea what to do and we really need help !

My boyfriend dog is diesel, he keeps him outside in a big cage because he can't have inside dogs where he stays. I bring my little dog boss there often he is a daschound and jack russel mix. If boss walks to close to the cage deisel will try to attack him through the cage. I'm scared to see what diesel will do if I put them together but we would like to get a house together but need them to get along. Any suggestions?
