My question is about territorial dogs and how to redirect this behavior. My 5 year old dog has always been territorial but it has recently gotten so much worse that it's becoming a major concern for his safety after a bad incident with a dog 3 times his size. rnHe goes to doggie day care for at least 6 hours, 5 days a week. And to the dog park a couple times a week. Everything is PERFECT, he loves other dogs, just not at our house or in our car. He goes from playful sweetheart to wanting to kill anything near our home. He is not food motivated at all, and I cannot break his attention. rnHe listens to absolutely everything I say, he's truly a wonderful dog and actually has a lot of respect for me but when this happens everything changes. I'm down for trying anything at this point.

Back groundrn Taj is a police single purpose narcotics k9 currently still in service. I had a personal German Shepherd that both dogs were aggressive to each other, but no aggression towards other dogs. My fiancee moved in 2 yrs ago with her now 9yr old golden retriever. Taj (police k9) was kept seperate from the other two dogs by staying gated in the kitchen. My personal shepherd passed away last June of old age. Since Taj will be retiring soon i wanted to get him and the retriever socialized together. It's been 6 months and both dogs are doing well together, with a couple of fights at the beginning establishing boundaries. rn That being said this last month the fights have gotten more frequent. (3 times in the month of October) 1 fight was due to both dogs barking at another dog outside, then turned on each other. 2nd fight happened when the retriever was laying down and Taj came up behind him, and the receiver snapped at him causing Taj to attack back. And the 3rd not sure what happened as we were all asleep in our bedroom when they got into it late at night. (My guess was someone was walking and stepped on the other). After all the fights, 15 minutes of being separated, they are back to normal as if nothing had happened. rn My question is what can be done to stop the fights from becoming escalating and becoming more frequent? You can tell that the retriever has now become a little more cautious, but still gets along with Taj. The thing i want to avoid is the aggression that was there when it was my 2 shepherds. My personal shepherd was nonaggressive until he was constantly attacked by Taj.

I have an older dog that growls and barks each time the younger pup who's one year old, wants to play with her older fur sister. I tried spritzing the older dog with water and it doesn't help long (she hides in her crate). How do I get her to stop completely this growl and barking? Can you get an older dog to play too? Any tips would be appreciated.
