This question is about: Barking at people, dogs, animals, birds or where the dog barks for attention or at the slightest noise Destructive chewing that results in destruction of furniture, woodwork etc Digging Separation Anxiety

I adopted a dog from a shelter back in December. For the first month or so, things were fine. Then it was like a switch was flipped and he started barking the moment we would put him in a crate so that we can leave for work or other errands. He's taken to trying to chew or dig his way out and from what I've been reading it may be separation anxiety. He doesn't like playing with toys, so the only thing I can leave for him to keep busy with is a PB-filled Kong, and it doesn't last very long. I've also read that giving them a decent workout before leaving will help, but I live in an apartment and don't the ability to let him out in a yard to play while we get ready for work. I have yet to try obedience training. Are there any other options? I've really grown attached to him and I don't want to take him back to the shelter because otherwise he is a really good dog.

I would really love to become a Therapy team with my dog, Angel-Baby. She is an absolutely beautiful dog - people are drawn to her - but she's a bit wild because I'm such a bad dog owner (behavior wise - dogs walk all over me). I am committed to doing this. How can Angel-Baby and I become Therapy dogs? :)
