Bark Busters Home Dog Training North Chicago, Waukegan IL
Dog Training Waukegan IL, North Chicago, South Central Lake County!
My interest in dog training peaked around 1998. Tugboat (the very curly Portuguese Water Dog you see above) and I had been through a variety of dog training methods; we were working together in both agility and water trials. I was unhappy with the dog training methods being offered in my area and dreamed of opening my own dog training facility. It seemed, however, that not having an extensive background in dog behavior training would prohibit me from being successful...until several years later when Mick and I founded Bark Busters South Central Lake County.
It didn't take long for us to realize that Bark Busters Home Dog Training was the business for us. Mick had just taken an early retirement from his position as corporate trainer and was looking for something new. My life's work as a public school teacher, a corporate trainer and a private instructor would give me a teaching edge in educating dog owners. Besides, our youngest daughter was soon to graduate from high school and would leave us "empty nesters." And then there was our love of dogs...
The beauty of Bark Busters' dog obedience method is that since it is based on canine communication (how dogs relate to one another), the dogs already know the system. It is the owners who have to be "trained." We have seen a dog's behavior turn around within minutes, once the dog realizes that he is not the leader of the household "pack." The simplicity and efficiency of Bark Busters' methods constantly amazes us.
As professional dog trainers with Bark Busters South Central Lake County, Mick and I understand that life can be miserable for families when their dogs "take over." Our goal in training your dog is to see that everyone enjoys a relationship with their dog as a loving part of their family. We have been blessed with this relationship and would like you to enjoy the same.
Our dog behavior training services range from preventative training in obedience and household manners to resolving severe dog behavior problems. Whether you need puppy training or mature dog training, small dog training or large dog training, Bark Busters South Central Lake County can help. Bark Busters' motto says it all - "Any dog, Any age, Any problem."

We teach you to communicate with your pet.
Blah, blah, blah, bad dog! blah blah. Do you think your dog isn't listening to you? Maybe you're simply not speaking his language. You may have heard of dog whisperer or dog listener techniques. The Bark Busters dog training method is based on the way dogs communicate with each other and how they learn from older, more important dogs in the pack. This is what makes our dog training unique and effective.
Why do we train in your home?
Your dog lives with a family, in a home. This is where he misbehaves most often so this is where training is most effective. Dogs learn by association. Bark Busters teaches your dog to listen in the home environment. If he does not listen at home, he will not listen outside your territory.
Training in your home is a one-on-one system without the distraction of other dogs or the stress of being sent away for training.
Of course, where you are experiencing problems outside the home such as pulling on the lead or dog aggression, we will set up controlled training situations in the park or wherever is most practical.
