Welcome! I am a Master Dog Trainer and Dog Behavioral Therapist. My experience working with several hundreds of dogs will help me help you become the family leader your dog needs and deserves. By using my dog-friendly, non-food based techniques (no shock collars or harsh methods ever!), I can help you live a happier life together with your dog.

My goal is for your dog to love and respect you. I can help you with dog training and puppy training needs for dogs of any breed, any age, any issue.

I can help you with your new puppy, an adult dog that you’ve had for years, or getting a newly adopted dog of any age to settle nicely into your home. You’ll be amazed at what your dog will be able to do once you learn to communicate with your canine companion in a way your dog understands.

My training partner, Jodie, and I help clients throughout Greater Anne Arundel County and Prince Georges County and we look forward to working with you! 

About Ben

Dogs are truly man's best friend and my dogs have been mine since I was a child (until of course, I met Kelly, and we celebrated our marriage in the Summer of 2022!) I'm an avid outdoorsman and love hunting and fishing. I wholeheartedly believe that dogs should be cared for and trained with love and compassion. Success in any relationship is based on positive communication, and this is totally true of canine owner and dog.

About Jodie

My journey with Bark Busters started when I was a client myself. Seeing the methods and results of this training inspired me to become a dog behavioral therapist as well. I started my career with dogs when I was 15 years old at a local kennel/daycare here in Maryland, along with being a local trusted pet sitter. Eventually, I moved to the retail side of pet care up until becoming a full time dog trainer and behavioral therapist with Bark Busters. My passion has always been helping others live happier lives which I was able to pursue for many years simultaneously in the medical field. Now, I get to follow that passion to helping you live a happier life with your dogs. I am so excited to get started working with you!

Just had our first training session with Ben where he began by explaining how we needed to communicate with our dogs. I must say I was super nervous about this experience because I knew most of my dogs bad habits have been encouraged by me and I didn't want to be guilted by that. However, Ben was kind in telling us a few simple ways we can communicate with our dogs to break their separation anxiety and aggressive barking. After the initial conversation he made sure to explain the actual training that would happen before having us start. Throughout the training he was very encouraging and made sure that we were on track with what was expected of us. I am extremely hopeful for the first time that we will be able to live in harmony with our dogs.

It was my pleasure working with Ben from Bark Busters. I’ve had many dogs in my lifetime but never experienced Doggie Anxiety until I got my dog Pepper.

We couldn’t leave her alone in the house by herself for any length of time without returning home to find shredded house curtains and venetian blinds.

In our 1 initial consultation, Ben was able to give me sound advice on how to treat our situation. He was able to do more in 1 hour than I was able to do in the 2 months that we’ve had Pepper ( our adopted German Shepherd mix from PG Animal Control). He was able to without any force get Pepper to go into her crate and after a few minutes she actually went to sleep. She wouldn’t go near the crate before Ben worked with her.

I feel more relaxed and confident in myself and ready to embark on this journey with our dog.
She wasn’t a bad dog I was a bad Dad. Ben helped me see things from Pepper's perspective not mine.

I would highly recommend Ben and Bark Busters over other trainers. No need for shock collars and physical force. Just training, patience and love.

This was our first time using the Bark Busters method and I am a huge fan! Their methods worked instantly and were easy to follow! Ben was great at demonstrating and explaining everything to us.

UPDATE: Ben came back out to help us out today. There was no additional cost since that is included in the original pricing. We had managed to confuse our dog, who is one of the most docile breeds around, and he had developed some more aggressive behaviors. Again, within MINUTES of Ben walking us through what to do, we saw a completely different dog! I cannot say enough good things about what Barkbusters does! It is simply amazing!!

From our first encounter with the call assistant, Liz, to the times we’ve needed Ben after our first appointment, the level of care, professionalism, patience, and knowledge, can’t be beat. As a frugal family of four, the price accompanying the service was something we considered. However, we envisioned using a less reputable establishment and then still needing Bark Buster’s services in the long run. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED! Ben Miller, spent over 3 hours working with us (and our dog) on our first session. When he left, I am not exaggerating when I say, he left us with a different dog. He taught us how to communicate with our dog in a way she understands, respects, and ultimately listens to! It also is not an exaggeration to say that our quality of life has been better because of this. The added stress of a wild dog (along with wild kids, lol) takes a toll. Things are completely different now! If you are on the fence about this service, DON’T BE!! Having my best furry friend also be a good listener now, is worth its weight in gold!

Ben was amazing for our first training session with our rescue lab from the shelter! Ben is patient with both dogs and the owners (who are really the ones who need training). After one session I am already able to control my dog so he doesn’t jump, nip or run to the door. Our next lesson on leash walking went amazing and has been life changing ! Ben was very professional in training us on how to handle our two dogs. The dogs are different with one being reactive to sound and Ben outlined separate training plans for each dog with this key difference. We see immediate and continuing progress 3 days into the training plan with the younger dog. Our older dog will require more time with different goals in mind however even he is showing progress for us. We are looking forward to our continued training sessions

Jodie's expertise has been invaluable! We were seriously contemplating giving our 16 month old Weimaraner back to the breeder or a rescue due to possession aggression and nipping at friends and family. We were at our wits end! I spent a long time trying to find a trainer that concentrated on behavioral modification instead of obedience training. Ben and Bark-Busters absolutely fit the bill. I had excellent success previously with an alpha rottweiler-mix using what I learned from watching and reading Caesar Milan. That was 15 years ago and it seems I had lost my knack and was unable to take my new rescue (3 years old) on a calm walk. With some additional tools from Ben it's working beautifully. The basic approach using body language and calm energy are the same as Milan's approach. By starting with indoor exercises - such as claiming space, food and doors --, both my dog and I were more in-sync before moving outside to walking in a more distracting environment. Ben is THE DOG WHISPERER OF MARYLAND!

It's now day-two after the first session with Ben and my dog and I are walking calmly together. Inside behavior is also improving dramatically.

I really like that I'll be able to call or email Ben as I have questions or run into problems and as we advance to more difficult areas.

I am so glad that I called Bark Busters. My dog started barking at dogs when we moved to our new neighborhood, which made walking her very stressful for all of us. Ben explained why she was reactive and taught us how to communicate with her in a way that she immediately understood.

Within the first visit, we walked her and ran into her top nemesis without issue! We are so excited for what’s to come as we learn how to communicate with her more effectively and she becomes more and more calm. She is already so much calmer and happier.
