Best Dog Training in Tampa, FL
Do you want a great relationship with your dog?
Jeff and Cathy Drier are certified Grand Master Dog Behavioral Therapists and Trainers and the owners of the Tampa, FL office of Bark Busters Home Dog Training. They have over fourteen years of combined experience helping over one thousand dogs and their families live together in harmony.
What they do: Cathy and Jeff are dog training experts. They help people with basic dog obedience, puppy training, and dog behavior training for serious issues including Aggression, Biting, Separation Anxiety and those dog behaviors which cause people to become angry, frustrated, or embarrassed. They excel in coaching their clients and are recommended by numerous veterinarians, other pet service providers , and by the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
They are regularly consulted by other Bark Busters Trainers regarding difficult cases. They are also consulted by and referred by veterinarians, rescue groups, and other canine professionals regarding dog behavior.
Jeff was selected by his peers as the 2010 Chairman of Bark Busters Professional Development Committee and was directly involved with updating puppy class materials, developing Bark Busters’ Master’s Training Class and establishing a clear path for Bark Buster Trainers to progress from being basic trainers through becoming certified Master Trainers.
They excel in helping people fix dog behavior training issues that concern them including:
Answering the door, Barking, Biting, Chewing inappropriate items, Demanding Attention,
Destructive behavior, Digging, Hyperactivity, Introducing dogs and cats, Issues in the Car, Jumping up on people or counters, Not Coming when Called, Over excitement, Poor behavior at the groomer or vet clinic, Preparing dogs for a new child, Socialization issues with people and/or animals, Stealing food or items such as phones, remotes, or glasses, Toileting, Walking nicely on Leash and other dog behavior issues.
Jeff and Cathy are experts in puppy training. Many people consult with them even before they bring home a puppy so they know what to expect and what to do from day one. Puppies need special attention and preventing issues is much easier than fixing them later. It’s never too early to start teaching a pup how to fit into its human family. They will be learning things from the first day they arrive in our home whether we mean to teach them or not.
Age is not an issue: You can teach old dogs new tricks. Cathy and Jeff have started puppy training with puppies as young as eight weeks and dog behavior training with dogs as old as seventeen years. Dogs are life long learners so it’s never too late to change behavior. The sooner you start, the sooner Rover will fit into your family.
Master Dog Trainers Cathy and Jeff Drier have with helped numerous people with dogs with disabilities. Deaf and blind dogs can also learn how to fit into their human families.
Multiple dogs living together can be a challenge for people. Jeff and Cathy are dog behavior experts helping clients with multiple dogs. They’ve helped with packs as large as seventeen.
They do not discriminate regarding breeds: They’ve worked extensively with Australian Shepherds, Beagles, Border Collies, Boxers, Chihuahuas, Corgis, Dachshunds, Doberman Pinschers, German Shepherd Dogs, Great Danes, Greyhounds, Huskies, Jack Russell TerriersLhasa Apsos, Mastiffs, Min Pins, Other Terriers including Airedales, Bostons, Fox, Rat and Soft-Coated Wheatons, Pit Bulls, Pomeranians, Poodles, Portuguese Water Dogs, Pugs, Retrievers including Chesapeake Bay, Labrador and Golden, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Rottweilers, Schnauzers, Shih Tzus, Spaniels including Cocker and Cavalier King Charles, Weimaraners, Yorkies, Designer Dogs, just plan mutts and many other breeds. How They Do it: Before beginning any program of dog behavior training, Cathy and Jeff do a thorough investigation and interview to determine the cause(s) of the behaviors of concern to their clients. In most cases the behaviors that they are asked to help fix are symptoms of a deeper cause. If you do not discern the reasons for a behavior, the likelihood of a permanent solution is decreased. Watch a short Video as to what to expect.
Dogs do things for dog reasons, not people reasons. Dogs are a different species. They view the world and life from a canine perspective not a human one. They communicate in a canine way, not a human one. These differences can lead to misunderstandings and problems.
After the investigation is completed, Cathy and Jeff start the education phase with their clients. They explain the issues from the dog’s perspective and then start working on a program of dog behavior modification with their clients and their dogs. They coach and guide their clients through the process of changing their dog’s behavior.
They use a positive, non-physical (no choke, pinch, prong or shock collars) natural approach (no clickers) to dog behavior modification based on understanding and clear communication. Every dog is an individual with their own personalities, temperaments and experiences, as are people. Each lives in a unique environment, our homes and neighborhoods. Because of these facts, each situation is unique. Jeff and Cathy tailor the solution to fit the circumstances. There is not a one size fits all approach to relationships. Great relationships with dogs are built on a foundation of mutual love, respect and trust. If any of these is missing there are likely to be problems. Cathy and Jeff are experts in helping people understand and develop great relationships with their canine family members.
Consistency and practicing for only a few minutes (fifteen to twenty throughout the day) for five to six weeks will permanently change the behaviors that are concerning you.
Cathy and Jeff have a variety of service levels. Their “Life of the Dog” service is by far the best value. Dogs can be with us for many years and changes occur. Family members come, or go, moves, schedule changes, new jobs, and other things happen which affect us and our dogs. With our “Life of the Dog” service you are never alone. Jeff and Cathy’s help is always just an email or phone call away.
If your relationship with your dog is causing you stress, frustration or anxiety and its not what you imagined when you first brought Rover home, speak with us and prepare to stop worrying about Rover’s behavior. We love helping people develop great relationships with their dogs.
