Karen Guignard, a certified Master Trainer and Dog Behavioral Therapist is the owner of the Northeast Charlotte Bark Busters Home Dog Training. Since opening Bark Busters Charlotte in 2004, she has helped almost one thousand dogs and their families live together in harmony. Bark Busters is not a dog training school – we provide dog training in your home one-on-one!
What she does: Karen is an expert in solving serious dog behavioral issues. She views the problems holistically and will help you stop dog barking, dog biting, dog jumping and dog aggression … all in a way that makes sense to your dog! Bark Busters unique training methods provide the confidence you are seeking and the influence you need to help your dog feel safe and secure, whether it is adult dog training or puppy training. Any dog behavioral and/or dog obedience issue is addressed.
Karen excels in helping people fix the challenging dog behaviors like: anxiety at the groomer or vet clinic, biting, barking, chewing inappropriate items, demanding attention, destructive behavior, digging, housebreaking, hyperactivity, issues introducing dogs and cats, issues in the car, jumping up on people or counters, not coming when called, over-exuberance, pulling on a leash, rushing the door, socialization concerns with people and/or animals, stealing food or phones or remotes or glasses, preparing the dog for a new baby, and many other dog obedience or behavioral problems.
Age is not an issue. Whether you need mature dog training or puppy training, Karen can help! Some people even call her before they bring a new puppy home so they know what to do from day one. It’s never too early to start puppy training education. Karen has worked with puppies as young as eight weeks and dogs as old as seventeen years. As a professional dog trainer, Karen works with deaf dogs and blind dogs because these dogs need to learn how to fit into their human families, too. Multiple dogs living together are often challenging for dog owners; Karen is a specialist in helping clients owning more than one dog live in accord. Karen does not discriminate regarding breeds: She has worked at length with all breeds from German Shepherds, Rottweilers, and Pit Bulls to Yorkshire Terriers and Designer Dogs to just plain mutts.

I just wanted to tell you that the investment we made in Bark Busters was one of the best investments we ever made. I don’t know if you remember but before we called you, Benji had bitten me as I tried to stop him from getting a piece of chewing gum that was on the coffee table. I was very close to getting rid of him but you saved him!
Benji is a totally different dog. He still has his moments but he has made a 180 degree improvement. He listens; he comes when we call him; he doesn’t try to run out of the house when the door is opened; he no longer uses the laundry room as the bathroom! We host Thanksgiving dinner every year and have family members stay at the house for 3-4 days. In previous years, we have had to put him in his room (the laundry room). One year he even bit my sister. We thought during the holiday with all the people around that he was going to revert to his old self but we were wrong. Not once this Thanksgiving holiday did we have to put him in his room. We couldn’t believe how good he was. Everyone just loved on him and he ate it up!
The change in dog food was the best advice you could have ever given us. We did not realize that the food we were giving him was so bad. He now eats his food at his leisure during the day instead of inhaling it all at once! And he does not aggressively try to eat every crumb that falls on the floor!
To top it all off when we took him for his annual check-up in May, the vet told us he was in excellent condition.

Thank you for a peaceful night. Guess what! For the first time ever the dogs didn’t wake the kids up when someone came to the door! The dogs didn't bark or even go near the door!
