Best Dog Training in Greater Toledo!
In business since 2005, Bark Busters Greater Toledo has trained over 1,000 dogs in private dog training sessions in home. Using the kind, holistic and natural Bark Busters dog training method, I’ve helped dog owners achieve simple, easy-to-learn dog obedience solutions to their dog's behavioral problems. After completing the initial rigorous Bark Busters dog training program in Denver, I earned the titles of Advanced Dog Trainer and finally, Master Dog Trainer and Behavioral Therapist.
Because of this experience, my clients typically see immediate results (and are well on their way to having well-mannered, happy dogs in a peaceful home) during the first 3-hour dog training session. As a professional dog trainer, I provide great value, wonderful customer service and timely follow up. I am friendly, entertaining and keep the dog behavior sessions upbeat and fun.
Bark Busters kind training methods quickly put our clients at the top of their mixed human/dog pack. This happens much the same way dogs quickly organize themselves into packs with strong leaders. It’s not unusual to have utterly out of control dogs behaving nicely, sitting and waiting calmly, not jumping up and not charging the front door at the end of the first training session. You will quickly be in control.
As a Bark Busters dog trainer, I do not use physically or mentally abusive training methods. Instead, we teach you the natural and quick way dogs train each other. Now, it may seem that dogs fight or use physical force to establish dominance, but in fact they don’t routinely need to use this behavior. On the other hand, dogs don’t need to hand out treats to get the behavior they want either. Instead, they use a variety of other simple strategies to influence each other. I will teach you how to easily use these same dog training strategies to establish yourself as your dog’s leader. I encourage you to train, exercise, and most of all, love, enjoy and be proud of your dog. At Bark Busters Greater Toledo, I specialize in puppy training, dog aggression and dog obedience and provide small & giant dog training to mature dog training.

Chloe, Boyd, Princess (back), Cocoa and Merlin
I myself have four beautiful dogs: a young Great Dane named Chloe that we adopted from Planned Pethood, 14-year-old Lab/chow mix named Boyd or Bubba as we like to call him who was rescued out of a dumpster behind a gas station, 5-year-old chocolate Lab named Cocoa and a 1 yr old Great Dane named Merlin who was a rescue out of Norwalk with separation anxiety, aggression towards males, and was starved. With the older dog, I had tried treat training (which is what I grew up with), downloaded manuals off the Internet and even tried techniques that I observed on TV shows. The methods that I tried seemed to work only for a short time because I was teaching them to behave for the treat and they never had consistent behavior especially when I didn’t have a treat available for them. Here at Bark Busters, we do not want to just manage your dog’s behavior, but change your dog’s thinking and what drives them to the behavior in the first place. We are teaching your dog to make his own right decisions.
I am currently working with Planned Pethood as a foster/evaluator for their organization (www.plannedpethood.org) and working with Toledo Animal Shelter on training their staff and doing behavioral evaluations (www.toledoanimalshelter.com). I help out there whenever I can to make the animals that are at the shelter more adoptable. I also help out at various shelters in the Toledo area.
Bark Busters has trained over 500,000 dogs worldwide and I would love to be able to train your dog. Remember, we train any dog, any age, and any problem. Do you think that your dog needs us? Take our behavioral quiz that was found on our home page and see how your dog rates. Give me a call and we can discuss your dog(s) behaviors and how we can help your family. I would love to hear from you!!

What my clients say about Bark Busters . . .
The Bark Busters method uses calm, assertive leadership techniques and practices. It teaches you to become a leader worthy of respect as opposed to instilling fear into the dogs, as so many other methods do. They do not use shock collars or prong collars. --Nikki Badman, owner of Poco's playhouse
Cheryl Kubista is a wonder woman! Anyone who knew and now knows my Crockett can see the change from wild child to big boy who no longer has to be crated, ever! More amazingly I can walk him in my flip flops ... a major milestone! Crockett is a very happy dog who has learned to trust and knows he found his forever home. --Kim Recknagel Nagle
Our Sharpei, Nelson, has the most fun-loving, comical nature of any dog. Eager to please and quick to protect, he has been a rich addition to our lives; however, just after he entered the “terrible twos,” our sweet pup began to give us some problems. We noticed that if Nelson was left out of the cage while we were gone, he would gnaw at molding around the doors, tear up garbage, or reach for items off of the counter to destroy. We had tried various obedience schools, but none offered a solution to the problem— they simply taught us ways to avoid household damage. Nelson’s destructive nature reached a climax when he broke out of his cage and clawed at all of the cupboards and doors in an intense effort to get out of the house. We were left with no choice but to put him in the garage during the day, and neighbors remarked at the constant barking. In addition to the problems we were having at home, Nelson had been turned away from the vet’s office because of hostility to the workers, and to be honest, we were fearful of his aggression with visitors in general.---That was when we learned through an advertisement of Bark Busters. Cheryl’s program was our last hope, and we waited in anticipation for her advice after the first appointment. To our surprise, Bark Busters recognized and diagnosed the problem quickly as separation anxiety—a term no one had mentioned with us before. Cheryl took our training back to fundamentals and worked with us to respond properly to our dog and his antics. In addition to our “homework” with Nelson, Bark Busters was also incredibly available to answer questions that arose during our training. We began to notice immediate docility and Nelson’s aggressiveness noticeably subsided. Now we implement the tools Bark Busters showed us on a daily basis in routine activities, and we are happy to say that our stubborn Sharpei, while still stubborn, peacefully resides in the house while we are out, and enjoys playing with us rather than our belongings. Thank you, Bark Busters! --Pat Herman, Perrysburg, OH
Our therapist was easy to follow and she (Cheryl) gave lots of examples that made the techniques easy to understand. Wonka was much calmer by the end of the first session, you saw definite results. I would recommend Bark Busters because from the short time it already seemed to show results. I like how Bark Busters is a non-physical training and mostly uses tones, and helps you understand how your dog thinks. I found the training very informative and helpful. --Carli S., Toledo (6-mo-old Boxer named Wonka)
