Best Dog Training in Southern Connecticut!

You have taken the first step toward obtaining reliable dog training information from Bark Busters of Southern Connecticut that will result in Happy Dogs = Happy Families!

We are also pet owners who have loved pets since we were “kids.” As dog owners for well over twenty-five years, our pets have always been special family members who bring joy and happiness to our home and those around them.

On a personal note, Richard has a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and a master’s degree in Business. He has held a variety of management positions in a public utility company and most recently as the vice president and chief operating officer for a non-profit senior housing community. Based on his experiences, Richard looks forward to using his effective communication and people skills to further improve the bond between dogs and their owners.

Vicki has a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy and has been working with school aged children for over twenty years. As a therapist in the school system, Vicki is excited to be able to utilize her skills and patience to improve the relationship between people and their dogs.

So why the change? For some time, we had contemplated opening our own business. We did extensive research and investigated several service-oriented businesses. It was suggested that we consider an opportunity which allowed us to help people deal with their pets and do something that we would find both gratifying and rewarding. We were very impressed by Bark Busters’ commitment to providing quality and humane pet friendly dog training techniques,  unparalleled customer service and a guaranteed life time support option.

Our mission is to provide the means for all “family members” to live “peacefully” together. This will be accomplished through a unique dog training system that combines voice commands and body language to ensure good dog obedience.

As professional dog behavioral therapists/dog trainers, we can help you with a variety of dog behavioral and dog obedience issues including:

  • Dog barking
  • Dog biting
  • Dog jumping
  • Dog aggression
  • Dog housebreaking, especially through puppy training
  • Dog separation anxiety
  • Dog destructiveness
  • Baby/child safety

How does Bark Busters of Southern Connecticut accomplish this?
We don't believe in shock collars or coercive dog training measures. We teach you how to communicate with your dog using pack mentality. With consistency and follow through, you will see quick improvements in your dog's behavior.

So if you are experiencing behavioral issues with your mature dog or puppy or need obedience training for any breed. Call Bark Busters of southern Connecticut and let's get started TODAY!

What Our Customers Think:

Just writing to thank you very much for the help that you gave Koda and I. I am sad to say this but on August 20th Koda got called up to forever play in doggie heaven. He was not bouncing back from his surgeries and continued to loose weight, have little energy and get infections. He had all together stopped eating and drinking his last few days. You made my time with Koda the best that it ever was. I was able to enjoy my dog and I think he enjoyed me to. He was not only my dog but my best friend and a lot of that I owe to you. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. --Michelle, Waterbury, CT

Richard and Vicki explained the techniques thoroughly and are always willing and available to answer our questions. By the end of each training session, we have noticed our dog responding to the training techniques. We look forward to learning more techniques regarding food and object aggression, the reason for contacting Bark Busters. Good techniques. Knowledgeable trainers. Professional. Lifetime package is great! Richard and Vicki are quick to respond to phone calls regarding training tips for our dog (they even responded at 8:00 at night!). They have gone out of their way to stop by our house to drop off training aids. We have enjoyed working with Vicki and Richard and appreciate their help and support!
--Amanda and Tim, Milford, CT

Thank you for coming down and helping with Rebel. We have not had any issues since you left on Thursday, he listens to us, when he takes something that does not belong to him he will come when we call and leave the item. And the muzzle is now put away for good. Even potty training is going much better!!  The kids can do as they please without us having to worry about him nipping or bothering him. He hasn't fussed for us to play with him constantly and he has only been in the kitchen 3 times.  It is amazing to see him have such turn around in such a short period of time. He follows me around the house now like a lost puppy he is adorable. We love him so much and it is wonderful to be able to cuddle with him. You are wonderful trainers and we appreciate your help ever so much. Thank you once again. --Dean and Elsje, Ansonia, CT

Our animal hospital has been working with Bark Busters with excellent results. It is very easy to spot a puppy that is going to become an unpleasant pet without some intervention. Bark Busters techniques and well-qualified trainers help these clients transform a troubled dog into a well-behaved pet making the bond with the owners much stronger. We see the results firsthand as they come back to our office. Our clients and staff are extremely happy with our relationship with Bark Busters.
--Lee Lipsitz, DVM, Milford CT

Moe and Buster both responded very well to the training sessions. We felt like the dogs were really learning and not just being rewarded with treats. Richard and Vicki have been patient with both our dogs and us. It has been a great experience.
--Maggie and Matt, Beacon Falls, CT

The techniques were easy to follow and understand. It is nice to see that training without harsh discipline is effective. Both Richard and Vicki are very caring and attentive trainers. Very glad we chose Bark Busters! --Melissa, Milford, CT

Richard has been available to consult and ease “new parents” fears. Has also worked with our family (older dog) for positive interactions.
--Donna and Jim, Hamden, CT

The training is effective overall. My dog responded very well. I need to remember to give specific commands. --Francis, Bethlehem, CT

Vicki and Richard made an excellent presentation on our first visit and continue to explain the techniques in an easy to understand way. Housebreaking our dog was much easier than anticipated. We were glad that we could train our dog without using treats. We like the fact that we can call Richard and Vicki at any time if we have an issue that needs addressing. We also love the convenience of Richard and Vicki coming to our home instead of having to drive somewhere. Richard and Vicki have been great to work with and are very patient.
--Jennifer and Len, Southbury, CT

Before Bark Busters, we thought our dogs were beyond help. We had tried other methods without success. We learned so much in such a short time. I can’t believe what a relief it is to walk them without pulling my back out. Thank you for helping us enjoy our dogs again. --Tammy and Julian, Milford, CT

I had Maggie out for a walk on leash today on the Greenway path here in Middlebury. Coming toward us were two large dogs on leash and the German Shepherd started lunging and barking at us as they were approaching. Maggie started to react, lunging and snarling back. So I quietly took her aside, put her in a Stay (not a Sit, just a Stay) and calmly and in a low voice just kept repeating "Stay". She stayed, looked up at me the whole time and didn't react to the dogs at all. Praise, praise, praise afterward. It works! Thanks to you. See you next week --Sharon, Middlebury, CT

We truly appreciated the support and non-judgmental way of Richard – he supported us when we made mistakes and never judged our Pitbull. He even used age appropriate language and tone for our 11 year old. A sense of calm and control is already felt in our home. --Kristyn and Luigi, West Haven, CT

I would recommend Bark Busters to ANYONE with a dog who needs training because my and my family’s experience has been nothing but enjoyable. I can tell that after using Bark Busters, myself, my fiancé and my beautiful dog will be a much happier household. I never thought we would be able to train her with some of her difficult problems. Thank you guys!
--Kayla, Ansonia, CT

We are very pleased at how quickly we started seeing results! Thank you very much for all of your help!
--Jordana and Jared, Derby, CT

The training started to work immediately. Richard is very patient and professional at what he does and did not leave until the family understood the techniques.
--Michael and Carol, Naugatuck, CT

I would recommend Bark Busters to everyone because it does work! I have already seen a difference in Toby’s behavior.
--Ashley and Shane, Seymour, CT

The ability of the trainers to communicate the training methods to an Asperger’s child was remarkable.
--Patricia and Brian, Bethany, CT

I feel that Bark Busters has made me feel more confident when working with my dog.
--Rachel and Brian, Naugatuck, CT

I took Ginger to the beach today and practiced leash walking and even incorporated distractions (dogs, birds, children). It really was a world of a difference with her new collar and the tools that you taught me. I know this is only day 1, but I was thrilled!
–-Holly, Nantucket, MA

Immediate results. Good follow-up materials. Richard and Vicki were very knowledgeable and friendly. Look forward to their return.
--Carol and Mike, Southbury, CT

Miss Lilly Mae is doing fabulous! Her overall behavior is much improved. She comes and that has been a wonderful change. She stopped jumping up on us at dinner/meal times almost immediately after you left. She barks much less. It is just amazing! Thank you.
–-Michelle, Hamden, CT

We found the training to be interesting, enjoyable and very productive. It was amazing how much was accomplished during our first session. We would absolutely recommend Bark Busters to our friends and neighbors and look to our future with great anticipation of unity in our home.
--Deloris and Jerry, Orange, CT

I think we learned just as much as the dogs. We would recommend Bark Busters because of the knowledge of the trainers; it is easy to understand, very informative, and excellent follow through.
--Victoria and John, West Haven, CT

We’re very excited about Bark Busters training. Thank you!
--Jill and Aaron, Woodbury, CT

My parents and I wanted to tell you how pleased we were with meeting you both and learning what you taught today. Even my father, who heard less than one-third of your lesson, was so impressed that when I tiptoed by his room, he called me in and told me "They are fascinating people. Even if only 10% percent of what they said works, this is a bargain. Why doesn't everyone use them?" ?I really liked everything about the lesson. You (both) are very organized in your presentation, very attentive and very effective. I did not think it would work as quickly as it has, but Arabella has not bothered anyone and we are about to sit down to dinner. Also, after looking at most of the written material, I noticed that there is a lot of food for thought for people regarding leadership and behavior even if he/she has no pets. That is quite an accomplishment for a dog training service. I almost want to recommend you to some friends who need help with their own assertiveness training! I think that the whole curriculum and the way it was delivered today by the two of you was wonderful, and yes, you can use my comment as a testimonial or use me or my parents as references.
--Chandra, Orange, CT

Phenomenal results on several problem areas in a very short time. Wonderful experience. Richard and Vicki are awesome to work with.
--Mike, West Haven, CT

Amazing results. Addressed our questions - saw results in first visit. Highly recommend Vicki and Richard.
