I am glad to have the opportunity to bring Bark Busters to Western PA. As you have read on this site, our training method is based on how dogs naturally learn; because of this, quick results are possible. All training takes place right in your home where the problems occur. And Bark Busters training is the only service of its kind that is guaranteed for the life of the dog. Bark Busters addresses barking, jumping, whining, nipping, chewing, digging, potty training, marking, separation anxiety, dog aggression and aggression with people.
In Pittsburgh, we live across from a large park. Our three dogs used to charge out the door into the backyard barking at walkers, runners, dogs, kids on bikes, whatever and whomever were in view or sound range, accompanied by our ever-escalating “No barking, quiet, hey, stop” routines. Now, thanks to Bark Busters, they hang out in the yard and generally let everything go by. One neighbor even recently said, “Do you still have dogs?” We pointed to the yard; there they were…! That’s Neptune with me in the picture, seven years old and the dog that lead me to a career change with Bark Busters. Neptune was a challenge. He appeared on the streets near my mother’s house in the University of Pittsburgh neighborhood and no one was able to catch him for ten weeks! At that point he was a feral dog, and we knew no shelter would be able to adopt him out. We took him reluctantly. I was a terrier guy—Neptune joined a Cairn and Yorkie household. I’ve had dogs, often multiple dogs, since I was a child. He is my first mutt and first ”big dog.”
Neptune has taught me a love of larger, athletic dogs, and an appreciation of rescued dogs. Before Bark Busters, Neptune had various types of training through the years, with mixed results. He could be aggressive to people and other dogs, and was very anxious. In turn, that made us anxious about potential outcomes of anticipated visits from friends, family and their dogs. With Bark Busters, Neptune has become more relaxed, responsive and a more even-tempered dog, The change has been truly extraordinary, not only in Neptune, but with our whole pack. Bark Busters has taught us to better relate to and communicate with our dogs, and be effective leaders.
Bark Busters works! As a Bark Busters dog trainer, I bring a varied background to you and our work together. I have taught kids in a psychiatric hospital, worked with children, adolescents and families as a therapist in community mental health, directed fundraising, and managed training in health and human services, education, and business. I truly enjoy working with my Bark Busters clients. I look forward to working as a partner with you and your dog(s). We share a passion for these amazing animals, and my goal is all of us to work together with great communication, harmony and FUN. Remember: happy dogs make happy families! Here are some comments from Greater Pittsburgh Bark Busters’ clients:
Training was very relaxing and informative. Avram was great to work with. He really seems to enjoy what he does. My dog changed in just a few hours. It went very quickly because Avram made it seem fun and easy. It’s great to work in our own home. It’s more relaxing for the owners and pets. I called the vet's office after Avram left and told them about the great experience and the immediate results we saw.-- Annette, Punxatawney, PA (Great Dane)
I think the technique is great if you really stick with it. -- Shaina, Pittsburgh (Maltese)
Avram is a very good instructor and I learned a lot in just a few short hours. I was very surprised at how my (aggressive, hyper) dog responded. I was really concerned that Ozzy was past the point of no return. As many years as I have had animals, I can’t believe how much I did not understand about my own animals. Even though it cost me a little more than I expected, I would pay it all over again to get the results that I’ve seen in my dog. -- Lynn, Punxatawney, PA (mixed breed)
The trainer was very kind. I am closer to my dog. He is now an important part of my family. Thank you so much! I now enjoy coming home to my puppy. -- Michelle, Gibsonia, PA (Havanese)
Bark Busters works. We observed noticeable results by the end of the training. Our den has been reorganized for the better. -- Peggy & Richard, Pittsburgh (Lab, beagle, pug)
He was very interesting and easy to follow. We were working with 3 dogs and it was difficult—we have many different issues. We have tried different methods before. I think the method is great. Our trainer has been working closely with us—very hands on! -- Sally & Lanny, Pittsburgh (three dachshunds)
Avram made it easy to see why these techniques work. There is a lot of emotion attached to disciplining our pets, Avram helped us to allow common sense to prevail. We’ve tried other types of training. This is the first time I really believed in a system and believed it is best for us and our dogs. The training experience was interesting and enjoyable because the techniques work. As with all types of training—some days are better than others. The techniques solve problems instead of just bribing good behavior with treats. It makes sense. It works. I also like how we still decide what the rules are in our house. Bark Busters just teaches us how to achieve what we want. -- Jamie & Jon, Pittsburgh (shepherd mix, border collie mix)
