After being in the dog-eat-dog environment of corporate life for more years than we would like to admit, Bruce and I decided to jump the fence and look for a new pack. Our luckiest day was when we were introduced to Bark Busters.
Bruce had been a top technology executive for major corporations and I was completely engulfed in the sales life of selling travel incentives to Fortune 500 companies. One day we just woke up with the epiphany that we wanted to have careers that made us feel good about ourselves and helped others. …And that was Bark Busters.
After our exhaustive search of companies, talks with friends, and suggestions from colleagues, we decided that we wanted to become Bark Busters!
The Bark Busters motto of saving dogs fit right into our own beliefs. We have three dogs and they have all come from a “rescue event.” In July of 2003, Hurricane Charlie came roaring through the Florida Keys and many of the animals in the area were sent to the Broward County Humane Society. We adopted Millie, a headstrong alpha-male German Sheppard. After trying several other training methods, we found Bark Busters. As dog owners, we were amazed at the results and our pack was never the same after that wonderful event.
The following year, Hurricane Katrina slammed into New Orleans. Little did we know that our next dog was on his way from the devastation of Louisiana to our local Humane Society. We brought Nicki, our English springer spaniel, into our pack. With all that he had been through, he had his own set of issues. Guess what? The methods we learned with Bark Busters worked again!
This brings us to our third dog, a little five-pound we-aren’t-sure-what-he-is. His name is Buster, and he originally came from a puppy mill in the Midwest. He had many issues and his owner was about to send him to the county pound after having him for only three weeks. (The county pound euthanized dogs.) Needless to say, we took him in as another loved member of our pack. Buster was afraid of humans, would not go outside, and only stayed in his crate. Again our Bark Busters system came through for us. Buster is now a loveable little dog, basically running the roost of our three dogs.
I’m sorry that I went on for so long, but I wanted to let you know that we practice what we preach.
As Bark Busters, we make good dogs great. Our best moment is watching the glow of our clients’ faces as they see their dogs change before their very eyes and they know that they now have a happy pack.
Dear Bruce,
Thank you again for making it so easy to train Luke. As you said, when the training is not working don't hesitate to call you back. I am so pleased Michael chose Bark Busters Dog Training.
For you to come back like this and correct Luke's behavior in a very short amount of time was a miracle. You not only explained in human language with analogies, but you also used dog language that could be understood, and how Luke relates to the human language.
The Bah has worked since you left me with the tools to train him and is continuing to work. It was a pleasure for the very first time in over a year and a half, to take him for the walk, although I think it is a bit stressful on him since he has lead everything and everywhere in the past, he has obeyed with one Bah each time he acted on other dogs, and other situations.
He again has responded with the bah when he hears someone outside and begins barking. One bah and it stops. That will be up to Michael what he wants to do about that; for me it is a headache gone.
When I come downstairs from the bedroom, when he is jumping on the furniture, excited to see me coming, since the baah, that has stopped.
As I told you, he goes a bit out of control to say the least when seeing other dogs, but after seeing you, that has stopped. One tug back with the baah and he didn't do anything when he saw the other dogs.
When I would stop and tell him it was okay, he would walk around the area cautiously, but he then responded back to me when I did the baah.
When again I stopped, let him smell around, he did just what you said, he moved his bowels. Came back to me as soon as I did the baah.
I can't tell you what a joy it has been for me the entire day since you left. It is amazing since the first time your wife was here and gave Michael and Jessica these tools to work with, how he remembered each and every one.
Michael and Jessica will see the change in Luke immediately and I am sure continue his training until it is natural for Luke to obey and still be given much love.
I now know he will no longer jump on me when I arrive. I know he will no longer jump on the sliding glass doors because he is upset that I put him outside, and he won't be jumping on guests when they visit.
What a joy. He has given me such headaches, but that is in the past.
I have not needed to use the water spray on the top of his head, nor use the less noisy bag with the noise.
Thank you so much.
With a grateful heart,
Patricia Connelly
