Hi, I’m Sharon. I’d like to tell you a little about Bark Busters and myself.
A bit about me…
I’ve loved animals my entire life. My dogs go with me almost everywhere—weather permitting. I would never use techniques that weren’t good for your dog.
After a successful corporate career followed by running my own design business, I began to search for that elusive dream of having a career that I’d truly love. An acquaintance suggested Bark Busters. It was only after interviews with many Bark Busters and their customers that I was convinced of how effective the training is and how it actually makes both the owners and their dogs’ lives easier and happier. I spent extensive time training and studying to learn the Bark Busters methodology and to become a certified dog behavioral therapist. In doing so, I’ve met that elusive goal of finding a career that I love and can feel good about.
On a daily basis I help forge healthier and happier relationships between dogs and their owners. I truly enjoy helping families change their dog’s behavior to fit in better with their family and to be well-mannered, obedient companions. It gives me great satisfaction to knowing that I’ve contributed positively to the lives of so many dogs and their families. It is very rewarding to know that I’ve helped so many dogs avoid having to be re-housed or, worse yet, euthanized. Icing on the cake is that owners usually thank me out the door for the knowledge and stress relief that I’ve given them.
How quickly I can help is what surprises most of my clients! I see remarkable results usually within the first 20 minutes of working with dogs. That’s because our training methods were developed to help owners understand the language of dogs. After all, we’re smarter than our dogs! We should learn their language—not the other way around!
Dog language is universal, no matter what breed or where geographically your dog lives. Once dog owners are taught to understand their dog’s language, this knowledge can be applied to any dog instead of the frustrating process of trying to teach dogs our language.

Dogs learn best when they can focus completely on the lessons at hand. At home, they are in an environment free of unusual distractions. In addition, your home is where the daily issues that are causing concern can be recreated. These issues can be addressed more effectively where they normally occur (such as at the front door where barking or escaping is a common problem, or in the kitchen where dogs tend to steal food).
Being in a comfortable environment with no competition for your dog’s attention enables me to teach your very dog quickly. Then, once your dog learns, I can easily introduce distractions to simulate scenes which may likely compete for your dog’s attention, such as getting your dog to come to you even if there’s a treat on the floor, or to come to you even if I entice your dog by simulating a child’s noisy, playful behavior.
Best of all, by training in your home, you don’t need to spend time driving back and forth to lessons. I come to you and usually resolve all of your dog’s issues in one visit in the convenience of your home. In the unusual event that results aren’t achieved within one visit, I’ll return for more training at no extra cost to you. That’s our guarantee.
Unlike some trainers, we at Bark Busters don’t use harsh techniques or bribe with food to extort good behavior. Instead, we engage dogs and get them to use their minds to understand in a dog’s way what the owner wants. Adopting their language enables them to learn quickly through voice control and clear body language. The result is to have your dog behave properly even if you don’t have a treat available and ultimately even when there are distractions (like other dogs) competing for your dog’s attention.
