Dog Training & Behavioral Therapists for Frederick County, Maryland
Best Dog Training in Frederick!
Dogs have always been a huge part of our life together. Twenty four years ago, our first meeting was when our dogs took a disliking to each other in the field behind our apartment complex - we wish Bark Busters had been an option for us way back then!
We learned about Bark Busters when we were looking for a way we could work together and make a difference in people's lives. Our dogs at that time could not have been more different or more challenging - Krangel, a fear aggressive terrier mix and Fraek, a passively controlling Cocker mix. They came with us to our Bark Busters training and we were amazed - we expected to learn how to manage their problems, but instead we learned how to help them overcome the issues causing the problems, and become even more enjoyable companions.
Almost every dog owner we talk with, whether they are calling to ask about our training or someone who strikes up a conversation with us when they learn we are dog trainers, eventually says something along the lines of "(S)he is a great dog but...". That phrase always makes us smile, because of the many times we have used it when describing our dogs before we became Bark Busters trainers. And because we know we can help those people whatever the issue may be.
We look forward to teaching our clients how to help their dogs become the companions they want them to be. We help owners solve problems such as bad manners, excessive barking, aggressive behavior, and separation anxiety, with the simple and straight forward techniques of the Bark Busters system. When we see the client's dogs relax as they finally understand what is being asked of them, we know we have helped everyone in the family, canine and human alike.
Since becoming Bark Busters, we have been fortunate enough to become involved in Wags for Hope, a local organization that supplies animal visitations for therapy purposes. Along with our roles as part of Team Fraek and Team Diva, we help prospective therapy teams get ready for their evaluations with training sessions and Canine Good Citizen testing.
If you are thinking you and your dog need help understanding each other, or you have just added a new dog or puppy to your family and want to start your time together in a positive way, we look forward to talking with you. You will be surprised by how quickly your dog responds to the simple straightforward techniques implemented by Bark Busters, without the use of treats and any physical devices. And you and your dog will be on your way to developing a lasting bond based on trust and respect.

The Bark Busters Home Dog Training Methods helps solve dog behavior issues such as aggression towards people or other animals
- Cure embarrassing habits like barking, jumping up on people, scratching & whining at doors or inappropriate toileting.
- Create an obedient dog or puppy that will happily walk on the lead without tugging, sit or stay on command, and come immediately when called.
- Set off-limit areas for your dog.
- Reduce the stress of separation anxiety without the need for sedatives or drugs.
We teach you to communicate with your pet.
Blah, blah, blah, bad dog! blah blah. Do you think your dog isn't listening to you? Maybe you're simply not speaking his language. You may have heard of dog whisperer or dog listener techniques. The Bark Busters dog training method is based on the way dogs communicate with each other and how they learn from older, more important dogs in the pack. This is what makes our dog training unique and effective.
Why do we train in your home?
Your dog lives with a family, in a home. This is where he misbehaves most often so this is where training is most effective. Dogs learn by association. Bark Busters teaches your dog to listen in the home environment. If he does not listen at home, he will not listen outside your territory.
Training in your home is a one-on-one system without the distraction of other dogs or the stress of being sent away for training.
Of course, where you are experiencing problems outside the home such as pulling on the lead or dog aggression, we will set up controlled training situations in the park or wherever is most practical.
