About Derek & Lissette

Home Dog Training in Las Vegas, Henderson & Summerlin!

Welcome. Meet Derek and Lissette Anovick, your local Las Vegas Bark Busters dog trainers in Las Vegas. They have successfully trained hundreds of dogs to be well-behaved companions for their families. They have helped dog owners overcome a variety of frustrations, from aggression and incessant barking to separation anxiety and leash pulling.

About Lissette

Lissette’s passion for dogs stems from her early childhood having been raised with multiple dogs ranging from teacup Pomeranians to large German Shepard’s (street rescued dogs to pure breeds). She ended up rescuing dogs from euthanasia by always adopting from local shelters. Her knowledge and understanding of dogs stems from her innate ability to “speak dog” dating back to her early childhood days. Everyone in the neighborhood would ask Lissette for assistance with any training or behavioral issues since she was so in tune with animals since the age of 5. Lissette went on to build a career in health and wellness as a health coach and personal trainer, aiding people in their need to cure diseases and ailments through proper diet and nutrition. She treats the root of the problem and not the symptom. Her wealth of diet and nutrition knowledge carries over to animals as well since food sources for dogs are as equally poor in nutrients as their human counterparts.

Her training in this field carries over to the animal world quite well allowing her to assist dog owners that are willing and open for nutritional guidance and assistance. It’s a match made in heaven for Lissette to do what she truly loves on a daily basis thanks to the Bark Buster philosophy of assisting as many dogs and dog owners as possible world-wide.

About Derek

Derek’s story is a bit different as he grew up with dog and cat related asthma allergies and had to limit exposure to all animals as a result. He always loved being around animals but his health condition would not allow him to do so. At the age of 32, he decided to go out on a limb and adopt his first dog with the hopes that his asthma would subside eventually. Although he suffered for the first few months, he was able to build up enough antibodies in his system naturally to become immune to dog dander with no side effects and not needing to partake in allergy treatments. He went on to adopt 2 more additional dogs over the next few years. After that he felt comfortable being able to finally express his passion and love towards all breeds after having overcome the asthma issue. He made annual trips to the island of Puerto Rico several times a year for many years, dedicating most of his time to animal welfare assistance and feeding hungry street dogs in need. After a 20 year career in marketing and advertising,

Derek finally had the opportunity to transition into behavioral dog training full-time with Bark Busters when the opportunity presented itself. He is now a master trainer along with Lissette and loving every minute of it.

Community Service

We are passionate about giving back to the community, helping rescues organizations and shelters whose dogs have behavioral issues such as aggression and separation anxiety. We work with Home 4 Spot, the Henderson Animal Shelter, Wagging Tails Rescue and The American Dog Project (Puerto Rico Dog Rescue Effort) and help to place homeless dogs who have been abandoned by natural disasters.

For Derek and Lissette Anovick animal welfare of all living creatures with a specific focus on dogs has been a passion throughout their entire life. They make an impact on people’s lives on a daily basis by rehabilitating dogs and teaching owners how to effectively communicate with their canine counterpart and be the pack leader.

Las Vegas & Henderson Client Reviews

I can’t recommend Bark Busters enough. My girlfriend and I have two medium to large sized dogs (a pitbull mix and a Belgian Malinois). When we tried to introduce them on our own they did not get along at all—were very aggressive and tried to attack each other through the fence constantly . We were moving in together and needed the dogs to get along in the new house. We called Bark Busters and Derek showed us different training techniques and put us on a 5 week regimen. We stuck to the regimen and techniques and we were able to move in with the dogs loving each other. Derek was available for questions throughout the process and continually checked up on us because he genuinely cared about our dogs. Bark Busters was a life save.
100% would recommend Derek and Lisette to everyone that owns dogs and has any issue they wanna work on. Yes its a tad bit pricier than most but we all know "ya get what ya pay for" and I prefer to not skimp out when it comes to my FurBabies and I believe this was the only place I found that will continue to train your dogs for the rest of their lives and if you move to another state that has a barkbuster, you can ask always have them train your dogs too.

With that being said- everything they have showed me has worked 100% so I am confident in their skills for sure! But of course, training requires consistency on our part and is very time consuming, & the trainers see you for about an hour each visit..once every week or every few weeks it seemed depending on progress of training. I actually have 3 large labradoodles and I'm a single mom to a toddler so it has been extremely hard to take all the extra time to attempt the exercises needed for training, one by one, since I have 3 dogs with 3 different personalities and a whole bunch of other unexpected circumstances going on. So I'd say if you have multiple dogs, and they are wild puppies and you don't have much time-send them to a training camp for a month or 2 instead- otherwise you literally will be training your dog for the rest of their lives. O_O The good thing is Barkbuster is 100% there for the rest of their lives! Lol.! I have called Derek multiple times within the past year with new issues and questions and he's always so quick to respond and call me and take the time to give me tips on what to do etc. He's great. So is lisette! I literally just cannot commit to doing the trainings daily for hours everyday etc and that's my fault, not theirs. Also, they are so knowledgeable about nutrition and vet related issues for puppies, the best foods for your dog/s. Learned A LOT. I would absolutely recommend if you can MAKE THE COMMITMENT AND GIVE THE DOGS TRAINING TIME DAILY!!! CONSISTENCY IS EVERYTHING!!! also, they don't try and make you buy extra things or expensive things..someone said that in an other review I think. Only thing they suggested was a certain harness that you can't find elsewhere and no lie-it works 100% and is worth it! Also wasn't expensive.

***Thanks Derek and Lisette you both are amazing dog whisperers lol I will get back to you both as soon as I get settled in a bit more & into a new home! You guys are awesome!!!
I was never a dog person. I didn’t mind dogs but I just never wanted one of my own. I was going through a difficult time in my life and was gifted a super energetic and anxious puppy. I had decided training was the way to go and met with several trainers whom all had different methods of training. I didn’t know the first thing about having a puppy. I checked out Bark Busters and Derek came to my home and explained the program to me. This was the first trainer that told me straight up that I had a good puppy but I myself needed to be trained as well. He and his wife Lissette have forever changed my relationship with my dog Ramzi. Every time I reach out to them I get a response with questions about what is going on with Ramzi’s behavior and if anything has changed in his schedule, his eating habits, environmental factors. While most trainers have one answer for each problem they dig deep to get to the root of the problem. Ramzi was constantly barking at anyone walking by making our walks brutal. Lissette had me meet her in a public setting and showed me a few technics to get him to stop barking. I couldn’t believe it. He listened to her and stopped barking at anyone walking by. The Anovick’s have treated and cared for Ramzi as if he is their own dog. I am so grateful for them because Ramzi was just able to take a 5 hour flight with me and was so well behaved. None of this would have been possible without them. They helped me work through my own anxiety that Ramzi was mirroring. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to be apart of their lifetime training program. I know anytime I need them they are here for Ramzi and I.
I learned of Bark Busters through my mom who had adopted a Chihuahua about a year ago. I was impressed at how much Buddy improved through Lisette's training and the tools she gave my mom.

But then there's my dog. I rescued little Justice (also a Chi) in September 2018. He had been brutally attacked -probably by another dog- and was rescued from a high kill shelter in San Bernardino. For six weeks he was in foster care healing from his serious wounds.

Due to his trauma I didn't want to enforce any rules. I didn't want to hurt him by pulling on the leash or really dominate him in any way. You can imagine where this is going...

So nearly four years later my dog has developed an OCD behavior where he literally eats anything--indoors or outdoors--roams about the apartment appearing stressed or starving, and all of this making so much anxiety for me. We have had too many emergency vet visits to count. Close calls where he has eaten sego palm, etc.

About a month ago I couldn't take anymore. My vet here in LA where I live said there was nothing I could do. This is just how Justice will always be. Totally in despair, I asked my mother if I could get in contact with Lisette. I figured maybe if he got training it would help a little. I didn't have much hope but thought it would be a last ditch effort.

Well, upon my first appointment with Lisette, she assured me the numerous muzzles I had bought for Justice would not be necessary. She said by ME being a leader, this would completely change the dynamic between Justice and I. She listed a few different reasons why he has been eating everything, 1) his diet, 2) my lack of leadership and therefore his insecurity, and 3) trauma from before.

We dove into the training! Wow. I'll be honest it was really hard at first. I was really scared I would hurt him. I was also pretty uncertain this was going to work. Literally from the first time she walked him outside and then taught me how to walk him with the Bark Busters harness, the behavior stopped. Stopped!

Here's the thing: you have to do the work. You have to be consistent. But Lisette is amazing. She breaks everything down, supplies you with everything you need (videos, harness, accessories), and is very accessible/communicative. This program has changed my dog and I am thrilled. My stress level is down, Justice's stress level is down. It is all around amazing.

I realize this is a long review but it is for a good reason. Please do yourself a favor: if your dog is having behavioral issues--or even if they aren't yet--learn how to take care of them well. That is what they deserve. It isn't true that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, you can. I was probably the one who was more unteachable lol. But in the end this training is helping my dog and me so much.

This is two thumbs and four paws up--way up--for Lisette and Bark Busters! Don't wait, book with them now. Thank you!
My dog was running out the door (into the street!) and barking all the time. I had gone to Petco for training and it did not work. I contacted Bark Busters to see if they could help me. Derek came to train my dog and gave me a lot of really good pointers. I am now working with her everyday and have seen huge progress. She rarely runs out the door and barking has gone away. She is even walking right next to me when I take her on walks. The training was worth every penny.
Derek and Lissette are freakin AMAZING!!! My fiancé and I, have a beautiful mastiff, who is huge and honestly listens to me, but not my lady. Derek and Lissette came to the rescue and seriously helped sooo much! After one session, there was a dramatic change in Mongo. Obviously it will not happen over night, but with the tools and guidance from Derek and Lissette, I am 100% confident my fiancé will be able to walk my 165 pound puppy without being nervous in no time!!!

And the positivity from both Derek and Lissette was intoxicating!! I swear the positive vibes from them two were passed on to me, Mongo, and Jackie!!! Honestly happy to have a great experience with great people!
This was a great experience! Our dogs are starting to become better as I have a new puppy and older female pit mix. Still needs work ...but so glad I went with Bark Busters! Looking forward to seeing the progression of these dogs! The money you spend is so worth it!!
A big shout out to owners and trainers, Derek and Lissette! Thanks to them, our oldest schnauzer is quickly breaking his old bad habits and becoming an exceptional dog.
Also, they have started training our 6 month old puppy schnauzer the same great habits!
Now, we don't have to worry about our dogs pulling the leash on walks, coming into the kitchen and begging for food, accidents in the house, barking when someone is at the door, trying to run outside when the door is open, jumping on people, and running ahead of us when we are hiking!
We highly recommend them because we have found their training methods easy to follow without taking much time out of our day to reinforce what we have learned.
Their customer service is outstanding! They offer flexible schedules and asked us how we would like our dogs to behave. They provide training tools and answer the phone whenever we have a question!
Thanks again Derek and Lissette from Bark Busters Las Vegas!

Nick, Kerri, Captain, and Nautica
Thank you to Bark Busters for helping us train our little Sawyer! A couple of weeks ago he was very nervous and protective over his Mama. Today he is showing that he is a lot more relaxed and willing to be trained. He has already made huge progress while walking on his leash, barking, jumping, etc. Thanks to their great advice and scene setting we are able to continue to watch him progress.
I found them on google gave them a call! After speaking to very friendly people and discussing a very reasonable price compared to other agencies, we set up an appointment! We have seen immediate results and learned sooo much about our German Shepard!! They are very knowledgeable and know what and how to things right! The training has been extremely effective and it's awesome to be able to understand our dog and be able to train and correct without a shock collar or other mean disciplinary devices! They also keep in contact and answer any questions we have! We are extremely satisfied and would definitely recommend to anybody!
Hire Lissette and Derek - you won't regret it! My dogs are my children and my world. But my leniency had resulted in them running amuck, and none of us were happy. After thorough online research, I found Lissette and Derek. The reviews were oustanding, and their and Bark Buster's humane training fits my outlook. After the very first session, the dogs were already behaving better and were clearly more relaxed. No whistles or shock collars - just some easy exercises that provide instant results. With 5 minutes of "homework" a day, my dogs are quickly developing good habits. Lissette and Derek are thoroughly knowledgeable about dog behavior and explained why the dogs do what they do. With that information, I understand what is happening and why Lissette and Derek's exercises work. We are on the way to a very happy home and I am extremely grateful!
Just a few weeks ago we added a new addition to our crazy little family named Charlie aka Carlos, Carlito, Charlito, or whatever you wanna call him. We soon realized we were way in over our heads and had no clue on where to start on training a puppy. So after stepping in a few little puppy puddles, some sleepless nights, and plenty of curse words we put the magic on the internet to work and found Bark Busters. After a long phone conversation We determined that this was the help we desperately needed to restore some sort of control in our home.
With a knock at our door our new puppy and giant Swissy charged the front door barking and clawing at the door. After wrestling my way to open the door I was surprised to see a familiar face. I had already met Derek at a local gym so it was a little more comforting to let him and Lissette into our home.
After analyzing us they came to the conclusion that or older four legged friend may be the one that needs to be trained and her bad habits could rubbing off on puppy Carlos.
Within a few hours they showed us some pretty useful and amazing things to train not only our puppy but our monster of a dog. They gave us suggestion on diets, showed us trick to walking them on a leash, and even left us with a few treats and a lifetime warranty.
Derek and Lissette are awesome! They really know dogs and they love what they do. They're available whenever you need them and they are the best in the business. I've hired other dog trainers that you can just tell, aren't passionate and don't return calls/texts. These guys are honest and they're invested in helping you improve your relationship with your pups.
We just had our first training session with Derek and Lissette for our 2.5yo lab/Pitt mix Midas that we adopted at the beginning of the year. We called the Anovicks out of desperation. We'd recently moved to Las Vegas from Washington and Midas's existing separation anxiety went through the roof. He would escape his kennel every day and tore the molding off our garage door, tore apart pillows, ate shoes, got into garbage and his emotional distress was very concerning. All of this was happening while he was on Prozac. We thought we'd lost our boy and thought we might have to rehome him.
Upon arriving, Midas barked at them, but unlike other visitors he warmed right up to them. Wagging his tail and butt and was happy to be around them. He trusted them. They first went through proper nutrition for our dog and explained that his diet could be a contributing factor. Then they went through their training philosophy and explained what they do, why, and how. They also explained dog behavior and communication. We then went right into exercises and scenarios with Midas. He respond to EVERY SINGLE ONE. They were training us just as much (if not more) as they were training Midas. They were non violent with their corrections, gave great positive reinforcement without the use of treats and were really great at explaining each exercise and guiding us. They show you how to do the correction then have you do it. They're right there telling you when to implement each tool they were giving us. Before they left we sat down once more and went through everything we learned and did. They gave us the tools we used in his training at no extra cost. We were given "homework" to do which was basically a chart we'd fill out each time we did the exercises and scenarios they showed us. We went into the appointment thinking it was just going to be another Midas expense and ended the appointment feeling like we'd just made the first real investment for our dog. They aren't salespeople, they don't pressure you to buy anything, they address your concerns and listen to you while being honest and direct. We're very happy with our experience and look forward to working with them on a going forward basis.
My husband and I were so impressed with the techniques used by Bark Busters.
Lissette and Derek , the trainers, were wonderful and such a darling couple.
After 3 hours our 2 Coton De Tulears were responsive to the new training and barking at the front door is a thing of the past. Our evening walks are now enjoyable using the new collars and leashes they gave us. The tools and techniques are beyond simple yet so powerful.
We have referred to all we know.
Thanks you soon much. Much happier family now.
I rescued a French Bulldog almost one year ago. She is the sweetest dog ever...except when it came to other dogs. Zoe, our seven-year-old pooch lived in a home with a very aggressive mini-pit and he bullied her constantly. When I try to walk her it's a nightmare, she goes after any dog; from a Great Dane to a Chihuahua and forget taking her to the park or anything like that. We had an incident last week and I knew I needed it to be handled, I had no idea where to go since I clearly can't do group classes. Bark Busters were referred to me by a friend.

Derek and Lissette came over last night and spent three hours with me and Zoe. I liken their approach to dog training as I would to conscious parenting. It was AMAZING! They taught me techniques that were so doable with zero aggression or anger and not treats but lots of praise. I was so impressed with both of them and my dog picked up on the training very quickly.

This morning we got up, did our homework using their commands and suggestions and she did great! I feel like I have hope for my dog, which makes me so happy! Maybe next she'll be able to make some friends.

I highly recommend Bark Busters!
The care and urgency to help was amazing! My situation involved aggressive behavior and they understood my urgency right away. They were able to meet me within a 3 hour notice at 9pm at night and they impressed me every minute of their visit until 12:30am. I'm very happy I was able to find Derek and Lisette.
All I can say is these folks are the real deal! We have a pitbull who was born blind and we didn't know how to communicate with him. He's a wonderfully behaved dog but we just didn't know how to teach him things like going downstairs. They came in and showed us so many great ideas and gave us homework to do and we are beyond excited that we found them! We are looking forward to more time with them and working on our homework!
Derek and Lisette are great, I felt really comfortable with them right away. I adopted a dog from the shelter with separation anxiety and I was really stressed out when I called. Just after the first visit I was shocked at how fast the training exercises started to work and gave me my sanity back. While we just started I am confident that I have great partners by my side!
This is Diesel and Zero. We have only had Diesel for 5 months. When we rescued Diesel from the animal shelter he was....to say the least crazy. We immediately called Bark Busters. It took them one visit to help us get him under control. We have had a total of three visits with Derek and Lissette. Before these two had to be in different rooms or all hell would break loose. Look at them now!!! Thank you so much for your help guys!
I adopted my girl 4 years ago from the Animal Foundation when she was only 6 months old. She was abused and had issues when men approached her. She got past that after about a year but then started to become aggressive towards kids. We always kept an eye on her and never had any real issues. Fast forward to this year and my 6 month old son started crawling. She wouldn't leave him alone when he was walking in his walker. Then the worst thing that could happen just happened in a blink of an eye; she bit his hand. No skin was broken and it was 100% my fault for not paying attention. My son reached for her bone while she was chewing on it. That was the breaking moment.

My husband and I went back and forth about what to do. Lots of people in our family were telling us to get rid of her but we had just gotten our second dog less than a year ago and he would be devastated without her. I just couldn't accept that getting rid of her was the best option when she is family. So I did lots of research and found Lissette and Derek. Derek called me within an hour and I was so grateful for that because I was so upset by what was happening. My husband and I spoke to Derek for about 30 minutes and asked if we could talk things over and speak to him the next day. Of course we ended up signing up for their services and we have not looked back.

My female dog hasn't followed my son and practically ignores him now when he is moving around the house. She seems less stressed about trying to run our home. We have only had 2 sessions and have had family and friends say how different she is. Thank you Lissette and Derek!! Sorry I couldn't write this review sooner!

P.s: I swear I am working on my bahh and am trying to not sounds like a goat!
Amazing! I have a 10 month old french bulldog who has a lot of fear but acts like a tough guy. We had issues with his biting and controlling our house. Derek and Lissette taught us how to take control. They gave us the tools and lessons. It's amazing how their business works and it's for the life of my Brobro. I know with any situation I can text Lissette or Derek and can get a response instead of being frustrated. It's great to have mentors in anything you want to achieve. Being a leader to my dog is what I wanted so we can all be happy together. Every day he gets better and better. You get what you put in. Invest in yourself and dog and hire bark busters. Thank you guys!

We recently contacted Derek and Lissette about resuming our training for our 2 year old Beagle mix. We wanted to move forward towards therapy dog training and other issues we have.
One of Lissette's first comment was that She needed our full attention. I loved that. To me, it meant She means business.
We worked for over an hour on specific exercises to guide us and Lissette gave us the tools we needed.
My Husband and I are implementing these exercises and amazingly to us, our Coco is responding.
I truly believe that having professional help leaves our pets with less stress because there are clear and kind ways of training.
Thank You Lissette for helping us help Coco.
Derek and Lissette are incredible people with the knowledge of dogs like no one else I have spoken to! They are easy to talk to, they are incredible teachers, and within the first session our puppy immediately had changes in her behavior and began to respond to us so much more. Their methods make sense and are important to understand. I recommend them to anyone looking for any type of training for your dog or puppy.
I've been working with Derek and Lissette on training my doberman since she was about 8 weeks old. We have accomplished a lot with basic obedience. They are very insightful on how to instill good behaviors as my pup grows. I get a lot of compliments from random strangers on how wonderful of a dog my Lexi is. I look forward to working with bark busters in the future to continue with Lexi's training
I highly recommend using Bark Busters! My co-worker used Bark Busters for her dog and I saw such a huge difference in her dog immediately, so I wanted them to help me with my dog, Leia. Derek and Lissette were at our house for 3hrs for the first lesson and saw a huge difference in Leia immediately as well. Leia is responding so well to her daily training homework that Lissette gave us. Derek and Lissette are nothing but professional and competent in everything they do. I am looking forward to future training lessons with them so we can learn more :)
