Bark Busters Home Dog Training in Mid-Maryland

Bark Busters’ nurturing, dog-friendly approach teaches pet parents the same natural communication methods that dogs understand instinctively – all in the safe, familiar environment of your own home.

Our efficient, results-oriented training program prioritizes clear communication and leadership while addressing issues in the locations they occur. This means faster, longer lasting solutions for you and your dog.

Whether teaching good habits to your new puppy, introducing obedience training, or resolving behavioral issues, we can help you live a happier life together with your dog!

What Makes Bark Busters Unique:

  • We train in your home. Dogs learn best in a familiar, safe environment, free of outside distractions and disruptions. We work first to build an effective foundation for better behavior.
  • We teach you how to communicate with your dog. Dogs naturally live in families and look their family leaders for guidance, safety, and love. Most people don't know how to appeal to a dog's natural sense of leadership or communication. We teach you how to use friendly, canine leadership and to "speak dog" using your body language, voice tones, and timing so you and your dog communicate better!
  • You will see results. You want to see a change in your dog’s behavior, preferably sooner rather than later. Over the course of our first 2 to 3-hour lesson, you’ll see changes in your dog and your relationship.
  • We are often called in when other trainers or dog classes have failed because we can take on the tough issues like aggression, sibling rivalry or separation anxiety.
  • We only use dog-friendly methods of training – you should never lay a hand on your dog unless it is out of love. Also, we love treats but they shouldn't be needed to communicate with your dog.

We can help you with all your dog behavior issues and needs, including:

  • Adjusting to another dog or baby
  • Aggression toward you, dogs, food, etc.
  • Attention seeking
  • Barking
  • Basic obedience (come, sit, stay)
  • Begging
  • Biting
  • Destructive behaviors such as chewing and digging
  • Door manners
  • Housebreaking
  • Jumping
  • Leash pulling
  • Moving
  • Running away
  • Separation anxiety
  • Sibling rivalry with dogs or cats
  • Socializing with other dogs
  • And more!

More About Us:

Welcome! We are Ben Miller & Kelly Gilbert! We met at Penn State and are happily engaged. We both had dogs growing up and fell in love with Skeller, our Dachshund from a Baltimore Animal Rescue & Shelter, the minute we laid eyes on him. Now, we have two more Dachshund puppies to round out our current family of five!

Dogs are a huge part of our family and we want to help families live their happiest lives together with their dogs!

More About Ben:

Dogs are truly man's best friend and my dogs have been mine since I was a child (until of course, I met Kelly!) I'm an avid outdoorsman and love hunting and fishing. I wholeheartedly believe that dogs should be cared for and trained out of love and compassion. Success in any relationship is based on positive communication and this is totally true of canine owner and dog.

More About Kelly:

I'm a former high school math teacher with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Penn State and a nearly complete Masters in Special Education from Towson University. Teaching is a passion of mine so I love connecting with new clients and families and helping them solve their dog behavior issues. I've also had the privilege of getting to know Ben's younger brother, who has special needs, and we've been working with him alongside our dogs to help with sensory issues and communication.
