We are working with Greg Kleva in northern New Jersey. We have a new grandchild, our first, and while our puppy is generally wonderful, she just isn’t good with children. We had tried other dog training, but nothing really worked. We didn't know what to do. We found Greg and Bark Buster’s, and at first, we were very apprehensive because of what seemed like a large upfront payment. I have to say though that after 5 hours of training our dog has been transformed in the most positive way. She's great with our granddaughter, and we have a really good path to a happy, safe home. Greg himself is fantastic. Experienced, responsive, respectful, warm. We love him. And the Bark Busters methodology simply works. Greg has been worth every cent.
We contacted Bark Busters to help with our rescued boy, Cam. We rescued him in November 2024. He is a very nervous dog and requires lots of direction and attention. He presents to have high anxiety at times. Cam and I started off a bit rough. He was feeling the need to protect my husband when we were both showing him affection. Unfortunately, he did lash out at me one time which resulted in a bite. This led me to reach out for help since we/I wanted to give Cam a chance to have a good life and for me to be able to be comfortable in our own home with our boy. That is the back story. Today, Cam and I have come a long way. We have had three sessions so far, several months apart. Cam is now respecting me differently, and we now know how to read him and recognize when his anxiety is escalating. Greg is amazing at our first lesson, he hit the nail on the head, assessing Cam to have anxiety that was coming from fear and not aggression. Using Greg's techniques has been life changing for all of us. I am still very careful watching Cam's body language and eyes to be sure I am not approaching him when he is in an anxious state. What has been most helpful is learning how to speak dog language and be aware of body language (both human and dog bodies). Also allowing Cam to come to me for affection has definitely helped to grow our relationship. We are so grateful and fortunate to have connected with Bark Busters! Greg was on time for all our lessons and shows up with all the tools needed for our time together. He obviously loves what he does, it shows in his ability to be personable and professional at the same time. Thank you Greg for your encouragement and honesty and trust! I highly recommend Greg!
We were skeptical about how much one session could help, but Greg completely changed the game for us. Our 1-year-old GSD is wonderful in public but very territorial at home — which, to be fair, is part of what makes him such a good boy! We just wanted to help him understand that not every visitor is a threat and that if we let someone in, it means he can relax and trust us. Greg took the time to really read our dog and explain his behavior in detail. By the end of the session, our pup was calmly sitting and observing instead of going into full “stranger danger” mode. It’s been about three weeks since, and with consistent reinforcement, he now waits patiently at doorways and responds to our tone so much better. Highly recommend Greg — his insight and calm energy made a world of difference for both us and our pup!
Before calling Greg we had tried other trainers with Atlas. They helped with walking on leash with him but we still were not able to walk with him on crowded sidewalks like our downtown area. He would be barking and jumping, just very overstimulated. Greg came and literally solved our problem within the 2-hour session. He gave us the tools and the knowledge of how to work with Atlas to let him feel that he is safe and that we got his back and he does not need to be reactive around other people when we're there. We utilize these tools daily to ensure the best retention for Atlas. To say we saw a big difference within the first week is an understatement. What even made the experience that much better was that Greg would text us to see how Atlas was doing and asked if we wanted to work on anything else with him. We also went away for a week and when we got back he reached out and said of we feel like we need a refresher since he was staying with family to let him know and he'll be happy to come by. The fact that he does not charge extra for these check-ins and it's a part of the package and process with Greg really shows that he's in it for the dogs and for you. I don't think I can trust anyone else to get us the same results that he did. Before Greg any person coming to the house was met with barking jumping and what looked like an aggressive dog but really was just a dog that was terrified. So for any visitors that would come we would have to put Atlas upstairs in the crate in our bedroom. Day one of Greg being with us Greg was able to come into the house and there was no barking from Atlas no jumping just obedient and calm. He was still nervous but at least he saw that we had the situation under control. When Greg came by the second time he was able to sit in our kitchen with Atlas in the dining room and then sit in the dining room with Atlas in the family room. Again no reaction no barking Atlas was sitting and observing in a calm state. I'm now able to go on walks with Atlas and the kids and best of all able to take him to the downtown area and he just walks and observes now. Thanks Greg you showed us that it is possible to calm him and that he can have his trust in us.
I can't recommend Greg highly enough. I adopted a 3 year dog earlier in the year and he came with some behavioral issues which I knew I was going to need help with. I took my time looking for the right place and did research on many different trainers. I was a little hesitant at first because the fee structure is different than you see with most trainers. I can confidently say now though that it was the best decision I ever made. I only needed two sessions to see drastic improvements in my dog Brody, and Greg is great at checking in along the way to see how things are progressing. Brody now looks to to me for guidance in situations where he used to start getting aggressive. I couldn't have asked for a better trainer. Thank you to Greg/Bark Busters.
We couldn’t be happier with the service we received from our dog trainer, Greg! He was knowledgeable and dedicated to helping our Newfoundland overcome some fears, specifically with unfamiliar flooring and elevators. With his help, we can now take our pup on adventures he otherwise would have been stressed about. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a compassionate and effective dog trainer. Thanks Greg!
Greg is a godsend! My husband and I have lived 11 years without being able to have company over our house and could not bring our dogs around many people or other dogs due to anxiety issues. We are in the process of moving and needed our dog, Callie (other crossed the rainbow bridge) to be able to get along with our in laws’ dog, Lexi, so we can all live in peace during the life changes. We were all honestly on edge and nervous every time we would get the dogs together because Callie would become very protective and territorial over me and my son and would bark and that’s at Lexi. After just ONE session with Greg, he was able to explain to us Callie’s thought process and things we may have been lacking in as far as taking control of situations to make her feel at ease. He provided all of us with his Bark Busters method and the tools to mold our girls into the best they can be, and most importantly, to make them feel calm and safe. Callie responded to his method immediately and only got better and better the weeks after our first session. We had our follow up with Greg this week and even he was blown away by the progress and we were all thrilled to see our hard work pay off and see our two girls side by side and getting along! Greg is a GAME CHANGER. If you are on the fence, get over that fence immediately because we wish we could have found him 11 years ago but so grateful that we finally did. We would recommend Greg to anyone and everyone! Thank you so much Greg for helping us and the girls and improving everyone’s quality of life!

Greg is truly a phenomenal and a master of his craft. We were at rock bottom and completely desperate. We’ve been struggling with our 2.5 year old pup’s severe separation anxiety for almost two years. Feeling like a prisoner in our own home and spending lots of money on dog watchers. We’ve struggled even more recently with sporadic aggression towards new people entering our home. This came out of the blue; but, quite terrifying as our dog is a 70 pound big boy. Greg came in and sure enough Beau was aggressive towards him. Greg gave us some training tools to help control and calm Beau down. He left and came back and we were able to do just that. We continued these tools on our own and with all visitors people Beau knew already as well as strangers. And it was going great. Sure enough by Greg’s second visit we had no aggression towards Greg and a perfect introduction. Along with his aggression improving, Beaus separation anxiety is also greatly improving. Greg not only taught us training tools but explained the way dogs think and how we need to understand this in order to see results. I cannot recommend Greg enough! He is so supportive and knowledgeable both in person and via text message in between sessions. Bark Busters & Greg are changing all of our lives for the better.
