Photo of Beethoven James has been absolutely incredible! This has been the most life-changing experience I’ve ever had. My dog, Beto (a 100lb Vizsla mix), was extremely dog-reactive, would charge at people who caught him by surprise, whine all the time for attention, and demand that I play with him. I felt like I owed him all of my time, when in reality, that wasn’t the case. I’ve cried countless times when it would get so overwhelming to go on a walk and have him pull me across the street because he saw a dog he wanted to react to. After just one training session, he stopped whining and demanding my attention. He has not lunged at a dog or person once, and his demeanor has completely changed. He no longer jumps up at guests who come to my house, and he has learned to respect my personal space. I cannot thank James enough.

We are so incredibly grateful for Gusty and the help she gave our family. We have two miniature Australian Shepherds, one of whom is just over a year old and had recently developed reactive aggression. Over the last few weeks, things escalated to the point where she began attacking our other dog whenever someone came to the door or a package was delivered. During one of these incidents, my husband was accidentally bitten while trying to break up a fight. That's when we realized we needed professional help -- fast. It had gotten so serious that we had even begun discussing the heartbreaking possibility of rehoming her, simply for the safety of everyone involved. That fear, and the emotional pain that came with it, weighed heavily on our hearts. But after just one session with Gusty, that painful thought is now firmly in the past. Enter Gusty. In just one session, our lives changed. The nuisance barking stopped entirely. Our dog no longer jumps up on us when we walk through the door, even when she's excited. Her nipping and playfully aggressive behavior has been replaced by belly-up submissiveness and endless kisses. She's calmer, more docile, and truly feels like a different dog. What impressed me most was that all of this happened while my four-year-old son was in the background, constantly needing my attention. Gusty was incredibly patient, understanding, and focused throughout. She clearly cares deeply about what she does and wants nothing more than to help dogs and their human family. During our next sessions, we'll work on leash training and eventually help our dog learn that she doesn't need to be so protective of our son. Based on what we've already seen, I have no doubt that training will go just as smoothly. I can't recommend Gusty enough. She's a life-changer -- compassionate, professional, and absolutely amazing at what she does.

We started working with Mariah after a few scary incidences of sibling aggression between our 2 female rescue dogs at home. After working with Mariah for a few hours, it was very clear how knowledgeable she about her craft. She is patient and personable. Mariah answered all of our questions and provided us with the necessary tools to begin our in-home dog training program. She’s very responsive when communicating between visits. We have already seen some positive changes in our dogs after the very first visit and look forward to continue working with Mariah! Highly recommend Mariah and her team!

Bonnie is patient, kind, and non judgmental. We have a challenging Boston Terrier and she has had many excellent ideas for adjusting his negative behavior. Doing the training in the home where the dog lives we thought was most advantageous. We would highly recommend Bonnie, and knowing she will be available for the life of the dog is really comforting.

Photo of Minako & Apollo We could not be more grateful for our trainer Kevin and our experience with Bark Busters! Kevin is an incredible trainer and we recommend/speak of him so highly our neighbor works with him now too!

We were in search of training for our two young rescue dogs with very different personalities and needs. Our pitbull is very high energy/excitable and exhibited signs of possessiveness when we introduced her sibling. Our heeler mix is very shy, slow to trust others and nervous around other people and dogs. Both of our dogs had issues with reactivity and resource guarding.

From the very first phone call, I felt a genuine care for our situation and liked that training was based more on an understanding/communication with your dog rather than techniques that were bribery, pain or fear based.

We like to think Kevin trained us. It was really eye opening to understand the ‘whys’ behind our dogs’ specific behavior and how to communicate with them more effectively.

Every time we work with Kevin, we work through a variety of training and exercises. He always listens through our concerns and provides feedback and guidance. If we had a recent specific incident or concern - he will try to work through the cause of those issues within the same session. He is incredibly present throughout our training and always makes himself available through text between sessions as well.

We still have work to do but have seen vast improvement in the following:

    - We are able to do pack walks with minimal issues of pulling and reactivity (and techniques to minimize this when there are unexpected situations)
    - We have worked on front door training and dogs are able to settle before greeting guests; we are also working through deescalating reactivity towards unexpected visitors/the mailman
    - We have worked on implementing/respecting boundaries (personal boundaries such as doing things unintentionally on their time/demand and physical boundaries such as sitting and waiting at gates/doorways and not jumping on us/people)
    - We’ve worked through impulse control and resource guarding by becoming more confident ourselves and giving the dogs their own safe spaces (like their crates for their meals)

Working with Kevin has helped bring our little family together and we honestly can’t thank him enough. My husband and I feel like a team working towards the same goals with guidance, direction and care. Our unit has gotten stronger and our dogs more confident, calm and closer than ever.

Mark is amazing. Call him, you won’t regret it. We have a new rescue, Gunner, that is about a year old who came into our home and decided he was the boss. As lifelong dog owners, we just couldn’t get him to stop his nipping, jumping, and overall dominant excitedness. It was overwhelming.
After our 3 hour first visit, our pup was fully submissive to us, listening amazing, and refused to nip or jump at all. I write this the next morning after we slept in our bed without the dog for the first time since he came home.
We couldn’t be happier with the transformation, and Gunner is so relaxed now that he doesn’t feel like he needs to run the place. Thank you Mark!
