We were having a lot of problems with our 3 month old puppy who was very aggressive towards our young children. He was scratching and biting beyond the normal puppy nipping / playing and we were a day away from surrendering him back to the rescue center. We had puppies in the past and were familiar with raising puppies and training them, but this puppy was different. Once Nicholas came into the picture, he helped us work with the puppy and the results were instant. Although we had trained dogs in the past, Nicholas was able to teach us a few very important techniques which immediately helped. Specifically, we hadn't had a puppy since we had children and we were attempting to involve the kids in training the puppy which is NOT something we should have been doing. Instead, Nicholas showed us how the puppy views us as adult humans and the children as human puppies, and puppies do not learn from other puppies. Another important lesson revolved around how we should react and respond when the puppy attempted to bite. Within a week, the biting completely stopped and our puppy is now our family dog for the rest of his life.

Barbara did a great job of helping diagnosis Alice’s behavior and coming up with a plan to help us connect with and foster a structured environment to help her develop during her puppy training. Barbara was always available to answer questions we had and provided additional exercises for her to work through with Alice. Alice is doing well and it’s because of Barbara’s guidance and and training program. We’re very grateful to have brought her on board with Alice’s development.

Photo of Ginny Paul helped me reintegrate my pack of 3 dogs and allowed me to continue fostering dogs safely as well. My original issue (I thought) was my big 70lb Ginny attacking our 27lb dog and a foster. We were at a point of complete separation of the big dogs and the small dog.

Paul came in and immediately saw there was more than that. He helped me recognize the 3 very different types of dog personalities we had which lead to the reactivity. He helped me regain pack leadership which allowed my dogs to relax... that’s all it took! Well, that plus daily work. It took 4 months but our pack is back together. Most importantly Ginny and I have a stronger bond than ever before - she listens to my commands, she can be off leash, and walks well on leash. I respect her reactivity and continue to work with her daily and when in public using Paul’s lessons.

The therapist first listened carefully to the concerns I had about my dog's behavior. He then helped me to prioritize the behaviors that concerned me most. Even though he (my dog) was in charge, I felt that we developed together a cohesive easy to follow plan to help make both the dog and myself happier companions. I appreciated the rationale he gave me for each modification of my dog's behavior. He was slow and methodical and I understood each step. I felt he truly was an expert.
We practiced some of the exercises. My main feeling was one of empowerment in having control of my dog.
After the three hour session I am really getting valuable knowledge for my money. Totally worth it!
