Marlene and Howard are nothing but short of miracle workers! I never thought my 9-year-old, stubborn Dachs Oskar will ever change his ways, but in just a few days and weeks I started seeing a difference. Two months in, he's a new dog, and my other dog has benefited from what I learned as well! He barks a lot less, obeys commands, walks with me instead of walking me, and is a whole lot calmer and less anxious. Contacting Bark Busters and Marlene and Howard was the best decision ever - no regrets, just a lot of happiness and gratitude! Thanks, guys!

Originally, I contacted BarkBusters when I was living in Westchester County. Nate (chihuahua mix) had been bit by my landlord's dog and my vet recommended contacting BarkBusters to help with his separation anxiety, dog aggression, and general sense of not being safe. Laura was wonderful. She helped me to understand Nate's behavior and how to address without re-traumatizing him. Years later, I met my now husband and Nate and I moved to Brooklyn. I wanted to help Nate get acclimated to our new living situation and address some issues that were left over from the incident in Westchester, so I called BarkBusters. They set us up with Rob and it was the best call we ever made. Rob has educated us on dog behavior and helped us to understand what Nate is thinking in every circumstance. Nate was still exhibiting dog aggression, some separation anxiety, and had a propensity for barking at everything in our hallway (no thanks to a terrible neighbor). Rob came in with loads of ideas on how to correct each behavior. He's even helped us to get Nate eating out of a bowl (ridiculous I know, but he refused to eat out of one) and back into his old harness which he had become afraid of after I accidentally pinched him with it. Rob has come by as many times as we have needed and has even done a Skype session. Every time he watches us and Nate and helps us to see what we are missing in the most gentle way possible. He is obviously great with dogs but he is awesome with people, too. It can be hard to hear you're doing something wrong or not in the best manner possible, and Rob makes it easier to hear. He has a great way of encouraging you to see things differently and take a new approach. Nate went from trying to eat the face of any dog in his line of sight to now reacting that way intermittently on walks (which we can now correct effectively), has made friends with two little dogs in our building, is more comfortable around new people, and even tried to play with two dogs he had never met before at a friend's house the other day. Nate is now the dog he was meant to be - healthy, happy, secure. And we cannot thank BarkBusters and Rob enough for helping us to make that possible.

Richard and Vicki always explain things in the most professional way but in a way that is easy to understand. Our dogs behave better when the trainers are here. Richard and Vicki are extremely concerned about the well-being of our dogs. We use a prong collar for walking and they said right from the start they don't believe in that technique. We have found the training experience to be very interesting and makes a lot of sense on how to train us and our dogs. Richard and Vicki are wonderful and really know what they are talking about.

Joe and Marci are fantastic teachers for both of my pups -- a Pitt/Lab and a Pitt/Mastiff. But, truly, Joe and Marci have been the most amazing coaches for my husband and me. Their advice has helped us to get on the same page, and start really building a language with our pups, and building confidence all around. They are reliable, friendly, and effective. I trust them completely, which is not easy for me. I know that when I need help it will be given and when I am at the end of my rope they will swoop in with solutions. Our pup with separation anxiety is actually home alone for short periods of time now - which we never thought would happen. And our pup Baloo knows how to finally walk on a leash...which is helpful since he is 90 pounds! I do not know where I would be without these amazing people! I recommend them to everyone I know!

Alison is an amazing trainer- for both dogs and humans! She is part therapist, part teacher, as she listens to you and observes your struggles so that she can best tailor training sessions to your needs. She makes sure that you understand canine psychology and the reasoning behind your dog's behavior so that you can better address it on your own, leaving you empowered. Thanks to her help, my dog and I have an incredibly strong bond and level of understanding and respect between each other.

The week after we moved here from Delaware, we got an angry note on the apartment door: "Your dog is CONSTANTLY BARKING!!". They were right. Jackson was freaking out ALL THE TIME. We called Barkbusters (he came with lifetime therapy from them, courtesy of his previous owner). They have branches all over the country, and one in Madison. Greg came out and worked with us for a few hours. He was extremely talented, very knowledgeable, and obviously well-educated. Fast forward to today. A bag was tied to our door with a note: "Nice work getting control of your barking! Thanks for the effort!" and a dog toy. If anyone needs a good pet therapist, Barkbusters is AWESOME.

I was ecstatic after the first home visit as Deoge responded so well to the new pack rules. I own a business and had another visit there. Again, excellent response! No barking at employees coming and going out of my office. No anxiety when I left the office to work the floor! I would not have knows how to get Deoge to respond to me if Pam hadn't passed on her excellent knowledge of the canine mind. My Deoge is a wonderful and pleasant little joy now!

Robin was very pleasant and knowledgable. She left a packet for easy reference and answered all of our questions. We have enjoyed Robin as a trainer and a person. Our dog shows great respect for her after only two lessons. We appreciate Robin being available to answer or suggest new approaches and to respond to us in such a quick fashion. The Bark Buster's techniques made sense.

The combination of examples, instructions, and written plans made things easy to remember.
PermalinkThe methods appear to work, even with our stubborn little gal. They make more sense with Debbie's explanations.
Debbie is approachable and has a fun sense of humor. She takes time to explain our dogs thought process and that helps!
Our dog is losing her bad habits slowly but surely! The small bits of progress are encouraging.
