Photo of Quavo We cannot even begin to express how grateful we are for James and Bark Busters! We’ve had our sweet rescue, Quavo, for over a year. When we first adopted him, he was fearful and anxious — traits that followed him from the shelter. His separation anxiety was severe, so we initially tried another training company that used e-collars, but unfortunately, his anxiety only got worse. I do not recommend. During that time, a new behavior started: he began snapping at people. Although he never bit anyone, the snapping was scary for our friends and family and was seriously impacting our lives. It was heartbreaking to see Quavo so anxious and unsettled around people, especially because he’s such a sweet boy once he trusts you. After just two sessions with James, EVERYTHING changed. When my family came to visit, they were able to pet and snuggle Quavo without any issues — no snapping AT ALL. It felt like we were one big happy family— something we always dreamed of. I always believed in Quavo, but I honestly didn’t expect to see such fast results. This has truly been life-changing for all of us! (Included a photo of Quavo snuggling with my mom because I still can’t believe it!) Quavo also used to struggle with leash walking, fixating on other dogs and making walks stressful. Thanks to James, walks are now enjoyable, and Quavo has improved so much. We are beyond grateful for James. His training style is incredible — he trains YOU on how to train your dog & how to properly communicate with them. He explains everything clearly and uses gentle, kind methods. He’s honest & you can tell he truly loves dogs and understands each family’s unique situation. I couldn’t recommend James or Bark Busters more. We’re so thankful to have ongoing support for Quavo throughout his life. They have truly been life savers! I’m so grateful that Quavo is able to relax and that people can now see the sweet loving boy he truly is!❤️

Photo of Rex Connie was absolutely amazing in training us to work with our new dog, Rex! The office was incredibly prompt and helpful as well! We adopted Rex, a three year old husky mix tripod in April and engaged the services of Connie and Bark Busters about two weeks into welcoming Rex home.

Rex latched onto me immediately as his person and followed me around EVERYWHERE. While I loved the company, it was overwhelming and I could see that he was having anxiety when I even just leave him for a few minutes to go to the restroom. Enter, Connie!

At our first visit, she gathered a lot of info about Rex and our experiences. She focused on the behaviors that we didn’t like and that were harmful or dangerous for Rex and others. He was a bit reactive to new people, especially men, and did appear to have great socialization with people and animals. He’s gotten so much better in just a few months and we saw change after the first visit. Connie was patient, honest, and funny. I think this review could be pages long, so I’ll summarize the benefits here:
    - easy to schedule and good availability. Flexible with appointment days and times.
    - immediate results after first appointment
    - consistent improvement over time with the homework given at each session
    - great follow-up notes from each session with resource and homework
    - easy communication with Connie via text with updates, questions, suggestions
    - love that Connie comes to our house to see Rex in his normal environment with hands on training practice each visit and reasonable homework to follow between visits.
    - Connie focuses on our needs and desires and the safety of Rex and those around him. She’s not going to tell you that letting him on the furniture or sleep in bed with you is bad if you are okay with that. She’s also realistic with what we can and can’t do to get the changes we want.
    - great resources provided like videos, handouts, articles, advice, etc.
    - Connie is SUPER responsive when I text with a question or update.
    - love that this is a lifetime service for Rex so if something changes we can reach out for help at any time.

If you are willing to put in some effort (which was actually less daunting than I thought it would be), you will see results to help you and your dog be happier and safer. Can’t recommend enough!

Photo of Daphne I trained with James to help with my fearful/anxious GSD rescue, Daphne, and she has made incredible progress! I really appreciated the personalized training recommendations and plans for practice at home and follow up by James. She now is okay with meeting new people in our home and has began to bond with friends who we have over more often!

Lissette had helped me with training my 2 young male herding dogs 7 years ago. My one dog, Buddy has been unhappy and barking constantly so I contacted her. True to their guarantee she came back and helped me reclaim my front door and helped Buddy with a herding ball that made him so happy . She is an amazing trainer and her guarantee is truly for life.

Photo of Leia Adrienne gave us back our 5 year old dog that so many told us needed to be put down due to her fear aggression. We were not ready to give up and I somehow clicked on Bark Busters in a last ditch attempt to find the help we needed. We had worked with other trainers/behaviorists but we just couldn’t get to the point where Leia was living her best life. We were not able to take her anywhere or leave her without one of the family staying with her. After the first training session, Adrienne showed us that Leia needed our leadership. She showed us how to be what Leia needed in a firm way that emulated canine communication and behavior cues. We are working with Leia and are able to call on Adrienne for advice and guidance. Leia is like a new dog for us and we can see how grateful she is that we found someone to teach us what she has been needing. Adrienne gave us the confidence and knowledge to enjoy this sweet girl and, more importantly, Leia can enjoy her life!
