I have been so frustrated in tears over my German Shepherd. Karen with Bark Busters gave me hope and confidence.

Karen worked us through a lot of things today beginning with the theory behind the Bark Busters method then moving into basic training, followed by our specific needs. The 2 hour virtual session was very informative and I look forward to our follow up appointment next week.

Our 8 month old Golden Retriever showed noticeable improvements in just a couple hours. With daily practise I'm confident his behavioral issues will be resolved in a short order!

Rob trained our last dog so when we found ourselves with a new one, contacting Rob was a natural part of our plan. We really enjoy Rob and his approach. The difference was he was able to include our 12 year old daughter in the training and she loved every minute. Rob was full of great information and insight. He makes it so easy for everyone to understand how this new puppy and her family can succeed. After the first lesson, we all felt confident that we had the tools to make this happen. Ocean has quickly picked up on some of them as well- especially in regards to entering/exiting gates and doors. Can’t wait to see her progress! Thanks Rob & Bark Busters!

We’ve had a busy week! Bailey has had lots of social interaction with guests who have visited us and other dogs. She did surprisingly well limiting her jumping on our guests, too. Bailey did great in the car and we brought her to a softball game so she had some socialization with other people. She did very well! She seems to do great if and whenever we have her in public settings.
PermalinkThe walking exercise has been going well!
Feeding time has been amazing. All it takes is for us to say “stay” one time and then slowly put the bowl down, and Bailey waits. It’s impressive! She also has not been barking while her food is getting ready. This is such a great improvement!

Today marks our 3 month anniversary of being trained by Diane and John. I say “us” because it is my husband and myself that are being trained. We then train our dog according to the Bark Busters philosophy and methods. I have restrained myself from writing a review because I wanted to see where we would be in 3 months, regarding a well-trained pup. There is no doubt the reviews for Bark Busters Lake Norman are impressive, but I notice most are made after the initial “miracle” session, which we definitely also experienced. Tedi was 4 months old when we had our first training session. The difference after that one session was remarkable but you must keep up with the training in order for it to become engrained. We love the Bark Busters method because it is neither reward- nor punishment-based. It is behavioral and it makes so much sense. Add on the fact that John and Diane are superb trainers with great observational skills and you will have a well trained dog if you are willing to do the work with your dog. Diane and John are also well versed in regards to toys, safety, nutrition, socialization, and more. We have learned so much from them and in 3 short months and continue to learn as our sessions progress. Although not as frequent now, we know they are there for us when we need them either in person with an appointment or suggestions from afar. Tedi amazes our friends who visit with her attention and obedience. And she is a very happy dog. Thank you John, Diane, and Bark Busters! We continue to progress and be impresssed.

When my husband and I were looking for a training program for our mini-cockapoo puppy, Hugo, we wanted to ensure long-term support. We have had several friends get training in classes for their dogs, or boot camp, however...after a few weeks, the impact may minimize. The support from Bark Busters over a life-time was a great match for what we were looking for. Our first session, Ben spent about 4 hours with us! He was incredibly thorough, and relatable in regard to learning some of the training techniques. Being a first time dog owner, he also was patient! It has been about 6 weeks, and Ben just returned for a second session this past week. He helped review some of the techniques, and give some very helpful feedback. The strategies he has shared has helped lessen Hugo's anxiety, and in turn, we have seen less agressive chewing, jumping, and running around before bedtime. Our leash walking has also gotten better. He is assured that we, my husband and I, are the leaders in the household. We appreciate Ben's consistent, patient, and thorough support. I know we'll see him again in a few weeks for another check-in as we continue to get to know our now 6 month old Hugo :) Definitely recommend for those that want a lifetime of support that does not rely on treats, etc.

Robert is an exceptional trainer. He is knowledgeable, patient and easygoing. My puppy exhibited improved behavior after the first lesson and continues to get better. Robert is also accommodating and is flexible about working around your schedule, which is important to me as I have long work hours. In general, I highly recommend Robert.

Ryan is a modern day dog whisperer. We contacted Ryan when we decided to get a new puppy and we are so glad that we were able to work with him. When Ryan makes a house call to visit you, he comes prepared with an arsenal of information and products that will help you manage your dog and his/her issues.
PermalinkRyan helps educate dog owners in animal behavior and psychology as the overarching premise of training. He is very thorough in helping you think and communicate with your dog in a natural way, ie, in a way that dogs communicate with each other. Ryan teaches you the fundamentals of non-verbal communication with your dog, and that is the key to everything. You have to think like a dog. To reinforce this philosophy, Ryan demonstrates its' use with your dog as well as through observing and analyzing videos of dogs interacting in the absence of people. What you see happening, and what Ryan points out is the key to communicating with your dog in a commanding, non-verbal fashion in the absence of treats.
We have been using these non-verbal communication techniques with our puppy and the results are short of miraculous. Our puppy went from nipping and chewing on us on essentially a non-stop basis to only exhibiting this behavior when he gets very excited. Now, when he gets overstimulated, we are able to calm him down and stop his nipping with the techniques we learned.
We really liked the way Ryan simplifies the process and its' fundamental premises. The philosophy is very easy to understand and apply in real life.
Ryans' down to earth and friendly approach is inspiring and effective. Knowing that Ryan is on retainer for problems that will occur is an extremely comforting thought as we raise our puppy.
Ryan is certainly the most effective dog trainer that I have ever met and I highly recommend him and Barkbusters. Ryan is in high demand, so I would recommend waiting for him to come and visit you. You should call Barkbusters to get the intro on his techniques and the program and see for yourself.
