I was pretty amazed at the change after our first session. Sadie responded very well to the training on the walk outside. First time I've led her on the walk, rather than vice versa. A+ experience!

We got our puppy months back and couldn't be happier. After a month or so she started to just completely take over. She had zero respect for my wife and didn't listen to either of us at all. So I looked on yelp and contact Bark Busters. What can I say except Lissette with Bark Busters is amazing! Within minutes of her coming over the our baby was changed. It was like a night and day difference after that first visit. Wrigley was a different dog. Don't get me wrong she is not perfect (yet) but they will give you the tools to succeed in training the perfect dog. If you need help for any dog, any size, any age or pretty much anything at all you need to contact them immediately. You will not be disappointed!

Unbelievable! Our first three-hour session and all our dogs stopped barking at noises!

Damon was so helpful and spent a lot of time with us. He explained everything clearly and gave us next steps to work on. We look forward to continuing our journey with him and Bark Busters!

There aren’t enough words to express how grateful I am for Justin’s help with training Ranger. Here’s a bit about Ranger when we first started:
Permalink- He was 90 lbs and pulled on a leash, even with a prong collar.
- He was extremely reactive and could not contain the malamute in him. He just HAD to say hi (bark) at every person and dog to meet them.
- He was constantly on high alert, and his solution for every situation was the craziest solution.
Walks were unpleasant for both of us, I would constantly just yell and be frustrated and he didn’t have the correct guidance.
The first session with Justin, he was able to get Ranger to loose leash walk next to him in 5 seconds. That’s when I realized, it’s not Ranger. It’s my fault and our miscommunication. I didn’t know how to tell him properly that he shouldn’t be pulling on the leash. I didn’t know how to tell him that he has to be calm to be able to great people and dogs.
We’ve only had about 4-5 sessions, 30 mins each. His teaching style is very clear and super EASY! Ranger and I now have better communication and work better as a team. Ranger is now my service dog in training, he comes to my classes with me every week and flies with me. He can now:
- Loose leash walk, and heel properly.
- Ignore people and dogs when we’re out
- Be CALM everywhere we go.
- Realize the difference between play time and work time.
Justin doesn’t teach service dog tasks, but he WILL make sure your dog can become calm and confident. He was able to help me turn my reactive dog into a service dog. I am so so grateful for everything Justin did for us!
I highly recommend BarkBusters. This is the best decision we ever made! Both Ranger and I now have a better and happier life with better training and communication.

My family has had a great experience with Bark Busters. We have two dogs, an 11 month old shepherd mix (Lady) and a 7.5 month old French Bulldog (Meatloaf). Lady has a lot of anxiety and is high energy and wants to be a pack leader. Lissette came to our home back in September and worked with us and our dogs. We were able to drastically change their behavior in a couple of weeks. After about 2 months Lady started to act out and change her behavior while walking. I messaged Lissette and she scheduled an appointment for another training session right away. Kevin came out to our house and was able to teach us some additional skills to help with Lady's new behaviors as well as reinforce what we learned back in September. We really are getting our money's worth for this training because we are able to get help as new issues arise. We would recommend Bark Busters to anyone.

We call this a work in progress because Bode is an 8 month old cockapoo. So some of the things have been working out wonderful. He still has problems in some areas but he IS a puppy! If we have any questions, Derek answers us immediately. I think Derek‘s gonna be stuck with us for a long time!😂

Derek has worked with muffin for a year now and we’re extremely thankful for his knowledge & expertise. We have a 2 year old mini goldendoodle with never ending energy and saw fantastic results just after one visit. if you want to “speak” dog or actually teach them how do the things you want them to do, i couldn’t recommend them enough!

Lisette and Derek are great trainers and truly understand how to speak dog. They care deeply about my precious 8-year old Samson the Pittmaraner, and because of this his behavior improved within days, with reinforcement throughout the month.
PermalinkHe went from restless to calm, reactive with the leash to respectful with it, destroying toys in seconds to respecting it/leaving it alone when asked, and more!
I love that they teach me to understand my dog so I can develop a stronger relationship with him.
Will definitely recommend Bark Busters to anyone with any dog of ANY age (even older dogs).

Short version: highly recommend Derek! Has helped my dogs through basic training and more severe problems like resource guarding, trauma incidents and just always getting back to me very quickly when I msg him with random questions. Very much appreciated! Read on for detailed review :p
PermalinkI have been a client of Barkbusters for a little over a year now and trainer has been Derek-who is the best trainer I could’ve asked for really! I highly recommend him to every dog owner!! I have labradoodles and when I first hired Derek they had zero training and were wild! He helped me get them potty trained within a week. Then, taught me lots of the basics and then other things I wanted them to do that were to my standards of training (I like them a little wild and fun still lol!) recall, staying away from front door, not running out open door, not begging for food in my face, walking without pulling, stopping resource guarding (list goes on and on) it definitely takes time and consistency but the many things he’s taught me has worked. Also-he is so knowledgeable about everything dog related like nutritional stuff too which absolutely has an effect on dogs health and behavior! He taught me about what to feed and how much (got me to watch a great documentary about dog food that changed my life too lol) how much exercise my dogs need exactly and all these things really made a difference for us. I can now take my dogs everywhere I go as service animals due to his training! Literally just took one of them to Disneyland with my toddler and he had a blast too. Lol.
The best thing I love about him and Barkbusters is that they will train your dog for the rest of their life if you should need it (you won’t lol!) but-things have occasionally popped up where I freak out and need dog advice whether it be nutritional advice or behavioral and I send him a text and he always remembers who I am and gets back to me within an hr or 2, and sometimes even quicker. Always gives me answers and really helps me get my situation under control.
One of my dogs was giving me lots of problems with sudden and pretty severe resource guarding when he was like 10-12 months old maybe..he was able to help me through it and now my dog is 2 and hasn’t had any issues whatsoever around our other dogs or any other dogs he’s around. :)
Recently, I accidentally slammed my cars door on my dogs tail and my dog started acting different around me at times, and refused to get in my car again. I msgd Derek and he listened to me talk a lot and gave me advice on how to use positive reinforcement to get him back into my car and explained and gave tips and I followed exactly what he said and in 1-2 weeks he was hopping back in my car on his own and totally forgot the trauma response he had built.
Today, I had a random dog question and even though I don’t need training these days, I texted him (late at night) and he was kind enough to get back to me shortly after that even though it was late! So honestly, he’s not just great at training but I feel he is genuinely a good person who cares about all dogs, and truly cares about his clients too. He’s never tried to upsell other services or products I don’t need and just gives good advice and info which as a lifelong dog owner I’m always going to need lol.
Also, his wife is a trainer too at Barkbusters! Her name is lisette! I only had her come out once or twice when my dogs were puppies and I was sooooo impressed by her too!!! My crazy puppies got in line instantly just having her in their presence!! I was shocked!!! Lol
Overall, I have been very happy with Barkbusters and I can’t speak for all their trainers but I can definitely recommend Derek. He really cares about every dog! Thanks for always being there for me and my pups! <3
