Permalinkbut mimicking Cesar Millan just wasn’t cutting it, so we had to roll the dice. Our dog Ava has generalized anxiety, but it’s heightened when around other dogs. She sees them and lunges forward out of fear. Despite that, overall she’s an amazing doggo. She’s great with people, loving, energetic, everything you would want in a furry friend. My girlfriend and I were not enjoying walks with her however, due to her lunging and overall intense anxiousness around other dogs. After giving it some thought, we made the decision to put Ava first. After doing some research, we came across Jeff who immediately caught our attention with his extensive background. From the first visit we saw an immediate improvement in setting boundaries with Ava in and outside the house. WE COULDN’T BELIEVE IT. . . She began to see us as the pack leaders. It’s like she had been waiting for us to start speaking HER language and we could sense the relief she was feeling. With constant reinforcement combined with following the plan Jeff advised to the letter, Ava is night and day from what she used to be. Is she perfect? no, but taking it step by step is the key to success. Having someone like Jeff as a life long support system is a blessing. If you’re looking for a dog trainer who is realistic about training while nurturing your progress along the way, Jeff at Bark Busters should be your immediate decision.

Google Review: "Rachel and Betty Lou are knowledgeable and have a keen insight into dog behavior. I had never used a trainer before to correct bad behavior, but I'm so glad I did. I was afraid the tactics would be cumbersome or cruel. But they're not at all. My dog picked right up on their cues and techniques. Instead of using treats for rewards, which is what I expected, they just use simple praise. They are both patient, kind, and caring animal lovers who can help you understand why your pet is behaving a certain way and offer tips for changing that behavior. It was a lot easier than I thought. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them!"

Luis definitely knows what he is doing. Just had the first session and it was great! Penny is reactive towards men and given that Luis was able to be in her presence without being reactive whilst teaching us was amazing. My family and I are looking forward to rehabilitating Penny with Luis's guidance!

Our session with steve was well thought out and he came prepared with a straight forward game plan. He didn’t waste any time and got straight to work, while explaining the concepts to us in a way we could easily understand. Our dog was making grand improvements that we would have never expected instantly and we highly recommend that you book with barkbusters. Also, we are two queer people in our household and steve was highly respectable and treated us as he would any other client.

Scott has been a wonderful trainer for my Jack Russell "Terrorist", Waylon. Before working with Scott, Waylon really struggled with aggression towards other dogs, jumping on people when they come into the house, & leash walking meltdowns which included going bananas at any cars or bicycles going by. Scott's approach has been patient and tailored towards Waylon's fiery personality.
PermalinkSince working with Scott, Waylon has greatly improved leash walking, greeting people with better non-jumping manners, and made lot of progress in how he interacts with other dogs. What I appreciate most is that Scott doesn’t just train the dog—he teaches the human, too. He broke things down in a way that was easy to understand and gave me the confidence to keep reinforcing good habits at home.
If you’re looking for someone who truly understands dogs (and their humans), I highly recommend Scott. Waylon may still have a mischievous streak, but thanks to Scott, he’s a much happier and better-behaved pup—and I’m a much less stressed owner!

Sarah is amazing. She helped us understand our dogs better and how better to handle some situations. We saw improvements right away. She listened to all of our concerns and walked us through all areas of concern. We have had follow ups with her and she is easy to get ahold of in-between lessons with any questions that arise.

Recently my daughter, along with our 3 dogs , and I moved from a large home with a large fenced yard to an apartment. This move had a very negative affect on our dogs who were never leash trained along with barking issues from many other dogs in the building. Heard great things about Bark Busters so hired them and had one session today. We already see improvement with the lessons we learned to guide our dogs into a happy, safe life at the new place. ( after the first day!)

Michael was great! Within 45 minutes of the first visit, my dog felt like a new animal! He gives great instruction with simple techniques. I needed a solution but was worried I couldn’t do it, I now realize what works! Best $$ I have ever spent, having an improved understanding on how my dog operates has given me much peace!
