Our trainers (Diane and John) were amazing and so understanding with both of our dogs and with us as well! They took the time to explain every bit of the reason behind the training techniques and the behaviors of dogs in general to help us understand how to communicate with our dogs.
PermalinkOne of the dogs was very timid during the first meeting and they took things slower with her and never tried to push her too far. Every session was tailored to address the specific issues we cited in our initial call to Bark Busters and every technique they taught us started showing noticeable changes sometimes as quickly as one day after practicing it with the dogs.
None of the training involved anything pain or treat related (no shock collar, treat training, etc) which we appreciated too! They just teach you how to communicate with your dog so that they understand what you want from them.
Diane and John are absolutely amazing and thoughtful individuals and I would recommend them and Bark Busters to anyone!

Oh, where to begin! Milo is the most loving dog we've ever had. He's a rescue from Puerto Rico and has a case of separation anxiety. So much so that unless the kitchen area, where he is confined while we're at work, is "Milo-proofed" he'll destroy everything.
PermalinkAlas, after searching for trainers and behaviorists we came across Bark Busters. Michelle had stellar reviews going back years! We called.
Michelle is nothing short of a miracle worker! Her understanding of dogs and how to train "us" to communicate with them, become the leader, and relieve them of that stress is just downright amazing! A simple "Bah!" and we saw it right away!
Our understanding and communication has increased ten fold. Milo is responding so well to being fired from his old job and is even sleeping better. We are still training but the tools Michelle provides are priceless. The understanding, psychology, and instruction are like nothing we've ever seen. And the fact that she's always there to help is a major bonus!
If I could give a million stars I would!

Very simple to understand. John was very clear and answered all my questions. I saw a lot of progress just in one session. I really like that there is no shock collar or any punishment to the dogs, all dog communication.

Josh was so helpful with his guidance on the new training. He made sure I was able to practice with his tips while he was here which was beyond helpful. Couldn't be more pleased with the training session.

We had Jeri out today for our first visit with Enzo. She was amazing. Very knowledgeable, and we quickly saw the positive behavior we were looking for from the training. We were quite impressed with how she "trained us" on correcting some walking on leash behaviors. We are looking forward to continuing to work with Jeri! (Yelp)

I learned a lot of different methods about being the leader of the house. That assertiveness is not the same as being mean.

Kevin was very friendly and patient while training my dogs. He gave great tips, answered all of my questions and went above and beyond! Not only was training easier and stress-free on my dogs, Kevin was also attentive and provided additional information and tips for the whole well-being of them! Would definitely recommend to friends to family and extremely grateful that we could work with him!

Reaching out to Bark Busters and Justin has been a great decision and I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking to improve they’re relationship with their dog.
PermalinkWe reached out for help with our 4 month old german shepherd's pup a couple months ago. We were constantly being bit at home and dealing with leash reactivity towards other dogs outside. This created a lot of stress and frustration for us. We didn’t want these things to get any worse so we had to take action.
Justin has been so understanding since the first encounter and was very honest with us. An advanced dog requires advanced leadership skills and we needed to build those. He gives us homework and exercises to do at home and constantly checks in with us.
We have a very sensitive pup, but he is also very stubborn which can sometimes serve as a barrier to progress. Justin has been super understanding and humble enough to try different things. His focus is on finding techniques that will help our dog and not forcing a technique to work. I’m most grateful for his eagerness to help and having constant open communication with honest feedback. We don’t need someone to sugar coat everything for us, we need someone to be assertive and tell us what it is we need to fix.
Our boy is a work in progress but we cannot be happier. He walks so much better, reacts significantly less to other dogs, and most importantly has a new found respect for us as leaders.
