After 1 meeting with Jef we were able to immediately apply new skills with our 7 year-old rescue. When I called to make the appointment with Bark Busters, I was in tears and ready to give up on our dog. We had our rescue for three months, who had been returned to the shelter from another family because of his severe separation anxiety. The shelter told us he wasn’t dog aggressive, however, he was in our dog-packed neighborhood. We were becoming “those people with that dog”. In our first meeting with Jef, he taught us how to communicate with our pup and how to be the pack leader. It worked! We saw results that day. With our continued practice, it continues to work. We had tried the “treat method” of behavior change, but it didn’t stick because no treats meant inconsistent performance. We have been practicing what we learned every day, every walk, and working with him. We have emailed with Jef a couple of times and even had 2 visits. We are only in 5 weeks into applying these new behaviors with our dog. In this short time, our dog is now one of the best leash walkers in the neighborhood! He used to bark at almost every dog and would lunge and pull towards them. Now, he almost never barks at another dog and looks to us for what to do. We went from extreme separation behavior where pup could not be left home alone for even 5 minutes (or even out of eyesight), to being alone in another room for 2.5 hours without panicking or destruction. After our second visit, Jef showed us how to refine what we had learned in the first to get even better results. We still have a ways to go, but our dog is happier and we are too! We haven’t given up on him because Jef gave us the tools, encouragement, and reinforcement to be the pack leader. Thank you Bark Busters for your humane methods and thank you Jef for your support.
PermalinkWow, I'm choked up a little. Thank you. I love that you and Randy have had this experience with the best named dog in the world. You both have done hard work and done it very well. It's been a joy to have you as clients.
best,
Jef

Mac immediately changed his behavior after just a few commands. Marc gave us great options to help Mac. Now he knows that we are the guardians not him.

Today's training session was different than any other we have had! The dogs were responsive and seem to be able to adapt to the training right away. I am hopeful for the future.

8.2021 There comes a point in every dog lover’s life when you have to get REAL honest with yourself about the successes you want your furry loved one to have while interacting with people, animals, the delivery person at the door, the rogue, “super friendly” off leash nightmare, the neighbor they see through the window, the “new” furry addition to the family or just taking a general walk to the mailbox.
PermalinkI adopted a 3yr old deaf Australian Cattle Dog (currently 7 yrs old) with a very questionable past we shall say, we went through 3 years together just her and I ruling our roost like two girls would. I gave her the best training I knew how (and I thought I knew how – I mean, I grew up on a ranch, we always had cow dogs, what didn’t I know about this breed) - (fast-forward a year) 2 surgeries for the cow dog, a bad motorcycle accident for me, a new boyfriend and a 2nd deaf dog combined our worlds. (A little knowledge on the 2nd deaf dog, she is a 4y old boxer who was attacked by a pitbull and left her with staples in her front and back leg. This dog feared everything in her world and was brought into a new home with a girl human and a cow dog she didn’t know) The Cow Dog was having NO PART of a 2nd dog in this house – Nope, not even a little bit – we went from smooth sailing to barking, biting, fighting, whining, territorial, unpredictability overnight.
In walks Adrienne Greene – Bing Bang Boom, 3 hours later, lots of homework, lots of grace for us humans and our furry counter parts, lots of education and I personally learned the things I thought I knew was in part, me trying to humanize/rationalize a dog’s reactions logically instead of getting on their level, learning their language – one morning spent with Adrienne was a Game Changer for both dogs, and both fur loving dog parents.
The end result of a 3-hour session: Cow Dog was calm, relaxed and focused on me for direction (being deaf that is huge in our communication skills) no longer looking to try to rule this roost. The Boxer dogs anxiety was melting away in front of our eyes, she is and continues to gain confidence and looks to us for direction and security. (And we are just getting started, but we are starting now in a peaceful, cohesive, trainable household)
I can honestly say you are doing yourself and your furry family member a huge disservice if you have any issues/questions surrounding dog behavior in any stage and do not engage Adrienne Greene for help.
PS – do yourself a favor and stay off the “worlds best training web sites” you will thank yourself later (or like me, mid-session) I was doing the preverbal forehead slap for wasting so much time thinking I was doing the right thing for my dog.
Pupdate: 5.2022 Almost a year later we needed to do an in-home session with Adrienne again to help our boxer dog with a new set of anxious behaviors, it took less than an hour to address and redirect her anxiety and help her to calm herself down and become a quiet dog again.

We were blown away with Joshua’s knowledge and ability to explain the methodology behind the training techniques and how they’ve been developed with the way dogs think in mind. We saw immediate results with our pup Captain and are eager to continue our training at home now that Joshua has given us the tools we need to adjust Captain’s behavior. Captain is on his way to becoming a happier, calmer, more well-adjusted member of the family as we continue our training. We’re very grateful for Joshua’s help and insight! I highly recommend Joshua and Bark Busters to anyone that wants to see results with their dog without the use of harsh tactics, but rather through positive reinforcement.

I've watched the shows, read the books, even went to dog training academies... yet, my house was not my own. I live in a Dog House not MY house. Somewhere along the way, I stopped really enjoying my dogs and became their personal butler. Theresa devoted half a day to observe my interactions with my dogs, to patiently explain dog psychology and provide me with a foundation to then apply the training techniques. Never before has the 'why' behind the techniques ever been so thoroughly explained to me. By the time Theresa left, my entire pack was calmer, receptive and I could actually open the front door without a canine stampede. I can't describe how empowering this day has been. For months, I've felt very defeated and resigned to having to apologize for how poorly behaved my dogs are. I'm going to be working diligently applying my new knowledge until our next lesson. Already this evening, I enjoyed my supper without a horde of beggars around the table harassing me. The dogs are calm and relieved that I'm slowly stepping back into the role of confident pack leader. Isn't this why we have dogs? To blissfully coexist with them? To be understood by them? To have fun with them? If you're like me and you've lost your dogs' respect and you're frustrated, then call Theresa. She's knowledgeable, professional, patient and passionate about her work. Your dog will learn so much, and so will you.

We recently had our first training session with Michelle and we were so impressed with her knowledge and experience that the time flew by so fast. We initially contacted Bark Busters for our fur baby we recently rescued because she is very shy and timid and lacks confidence. But when Michelle came to our home she saw that our other baby was very nervous and barked a lot in the beginning. She showed us how we could work with her to calm her down and allow us to become the pack leaders of our home. Both puppies have shown improvement in such a short time. Our rescue has a long way to go but I know that with Michelles help and guidance she will become a confident pup! We are looking forward to our continued training with Michelle!
