Is your dog driving you bonkers?

This may seem like common sense, but to most people it is not given much thought…

Your dog is not bilingual. They do not speak English, Spanish, German, etc. They speak and understand DOG. Do you? Because if you don’t, you are lost in translation. A lack of communication is often at the root of owner/dog issues. We can help with that!

Let us introduce ourselves, we are Omar & Ryanne Rubio, your local Dog Behavioral Therapists and Trainers! We are passionate about our work with dogs and creating lasting results for our clients! We will take the time to get to know you, your family, and your specific needs when it comes to training your dog.

We help you achieve the pack leader role in your pack/family by incorporating patience and the 4 C’s: Calmness, Confidence, Consistency, and Communication.

For the last several years we've been small business owners working with clients in Lakeville, Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Rosemount, Farmington, Woodbury and throughout the Dakota County region.

Whether you're struggling with severe dog aggression, your dog's separation anxiety, sibling rivalry among pets, or just looking for help with dog obedience or foundational puppy training - we're here to help!

We empower dog owners with simple, effective, time-efficient, and cruelty-free techniques (no shock collars, no prong collars, no physical punishments) that will work alongside our dog’s natural instincts. Our methods (Speaking Dog) are based on how dogs naturally communicate, your dog already understands these methods. You will see significant changes within your dog’s behavioral attitude during your first lesson alone. We can help you develop mutual trust and respect as well as developing/strengthening the bond between you and your dog.

We are trained and certified Dog Trainers and Behavioral Therapists by the best dog trainers in the world. We have completed course work in dog behavior and dog psychology and are continuously learning and growing through our Bark Busters mentorship program. In addition, we are certified through the American Kennel Club (AKC) as Canine Good Citizen Evaluators.

We come directly to your home, where it is a familiar environment for you and your dog. Home is where most behavioral issues occur, and it is where we can obtain the fastest results.

We know we can help you train your dog. Any Breed. Any Age. Any Issue. If you're struggling with your dog's behavior or just looking to build the right foundation for your dog or puppy, contact us today!

We had our first session with Ryanne, in our home for our 3 dogs with Bark Busters Dog Training. Our dogs have been barking uncontrollably out of the window at our neighbors, counter surfing, getting into fights with each other, and more! After the first session, we are reclaiming the windows and the kitchen. They are learning to respect our space. We still have work to do to become the leaders in the home that we need to be, but we are off to a great start!
Omar and the entire Bark Busters team is great. Omar spent some time with our new pup Leo. We ended up not being able to work with him long term but he was very professional and accommodating throughout the process and made a stressful situation a positive experience overall!

2 new dogs
Thank you to Ryanne for doing such a wonderful job of training us and our dogs.
We have 2 dogs a 7 year old with bad habits (our fault) and a new puppy that is a lot bigger than we expected. With the bigger size the puppy days are difficult as Bruno is just to much at times.
With Ryanne’s help not only is the new puppy Bruno a brand new dog but so is Leo.
The night and day changes with the dogs have created a brand new attitude in our house for the dogs.
Literally it’s like having 2 perfectly trained dogs and it happened with in a few hours.
I would absolutely recommend Ryanne to help train your dogs.
It is worth every penny!
Thank you for a new outlook on being dog owners.
We love love love our new dogs!
Our experience with Bark Busters has been great! Our dog Molly has issues meeting unfamiliar people and was a nightmare to take on walks. Since working with Ryanne, we’ve worked on multiple techniques when introducing her to new people, and we’ve been able to take easier, stress free walks around the neighborhood again. Can’t say enough good things!
I was very skeptical at first but the first visit went great! It’s been 2 days and we’ve already seen improvements in our dogs! They even send an email with everything they went over. The dogs responded very well with the training and we are very happy with the results ❤️
Great experience working with Omar for training our 2 corgis. Our dogs seem to be picking up and responding effectively quickly after our first session! We are very hopeful that by utilizing the knowledge and approach taught to us that we will continue to see improvement. Very happy with our experience and would highly recommend.
Bark Busters training was some of the best money I've ever spent. I recently took in my mothers cat after her passing and needed to take my daughters dog (Maddie) as she is soon to have her first baby. We were having numerous problems getting cat and dog to live peacefully together in our home, as well as issues on walks due to her reactivity to cars and people. Maddie lacked confidence and was a very fearful and over-protective dog. Upon Omar's (bark busters) arrival she was extremely agitated and barked and snarled pretty severely. Within less than 20 minutes, Omar had taught US to 'speak dog' and we had Maddie calmly laying at our feet under the kitchen table. AMAZING!! The tension in our household dropped enormously after the training Omar did with us and I finally had hope that we could really make this work. The cat and dog are still learning to live together, but as we practice the techniques we learned the incidents have dropped to very few. As we continue to work with Bark Busters I am highly confident we can have a peaceful home and many good years together. So glad I called them.
We have been training with Ryanne for a couple of months now. We are very happy with the results and behavior changes with our puppy Nellie. Ryanne has been so helpful and has been willing to do whatever is necessary to train our dog! I would definitely recommend Ryanne and Bark Busters.
My 16 month old Irishdoodle, Winston, is extremely high energy and despite traditional training I have used for all of my other dogs in the past, I needed help for the jumping, barking that I was not able to keep in check. After my first session with Ryanne, I am so totally impressed with the new respect I am getting from Winston. The kind humane approach to changing these unwanted behaviors, “speaking dog,” is truly incredible! I am less than 24 hours into Bark Busters training and am so excited to continue to see the change in Winston’s behavior.
Prepare to be amazed! We recently added a 7-month-old, 50-pound, puppy to our home who had been living on a farm and had limited (if any) training. Even though we were experienced dog owners and had trained previous dogs, this situation was different. As we read up on BarkBusters, we decided to give it a try! We liked the customized, in-home training and the lifetime approach, rather than one-off training classes. Ryanne to the rescue! She listened to our needs and built a custom plan for us to follow (practice and homework are essential), focusing on what we deemed the highest priorities. The plan evolved over time as we built skills and achieved success in one area before turning our attention to the next thing. In the first session with Ryanne we saw results, including setting a temporary boundary in the kitchen for our puppy! Now that’s amazing! BarkBusters is different in that it is based on pack leadership, dog behaviors, and learning to “speak dog.” It isn’t obedience training, per se, but rather the foundation on which you build everything else. Ryanne is responsive and a terrific resource. It is reassuring that Ryanne is a call/text away if we need her! We highly recommend BarkBusters!
Bark Busters is an excellent service for training your dog. After just four visits with a trainer our two dogs are night and day different than they were before they were trained. We have a 5-year-old Lab/Pit Bull mix and a one and a half year old American Staffordshire Terrier. I highly recommend you use Bark Busters for dog training.
We would highly recommend Bark Busters! They have exceeded our expectations. Ryanne has given us the training and the tools to be better dog owners. Our dogs have not only improved their problematic behaviors but they are now secure and confident in their environment. Ryanne has helped us work through dog to dog aggression, resource guarding, jumping, mouthing, passive manipulation and introducing a new puppy to the home and resident dog. Ryanne is very knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to work with. Her follow up and follow through is top notch! Excellent value and we are so happy with the results.
Our dog Henry is a great dog (yellow lab, 5 years old) and he listened so well when we first got him (1 1/2 year old) Over time he started ignoring us more. Or did things on his time, when he wanted too. He was definitely running our home! (he was alfa!)
Soon he became more and more aggressive!
To the point we all (dog included) didn’t trust each other anymore!
We love our dog so much, We ignored all the signs! (frankly, we just didn’t know what our next steps should be or how he would react if we continued this way!)
We made the decision to write to Bark Busters!
AND WE ARE SO GLAD WE DID!!
They were very attentive, answer back quickly, very friendly and understanding!!
They treat every family/dog in their home (where it’s comfortable!) even in unique situations! (like ours!)
Ryanne (who came to our home) has set us in the right direction to building back our trust with our dog!
It was awkward at first but we trusted and followed the process!!
AND after 6 weeks we have seen such amazing progress! (dog and us included!)
Sometimes having a loving, healthy relationship with your dog looks a little different then what we expect. (or from our previous dogs)
We are learning our dog needs a little more attention BUT in the right direction by his trusted owners!
We are learning to trust him and for him to trust us back!
This was a change made for the better!!
We highly recommend!!
We would do this all over again!!
We are all happier because of Ryanne and Bark Busters!! ?
Ryanne has been a such a gift to me and my 2 year old adopted Shitzu, Ollie. Until we met, Ollie was not housebroken, jumped on me and everyone he met, nipped like crazy, pulled and ran all over when on leash, escaped through the front door, and although being a very affectionate dog, was a terror. I was exhausted and questioning what I was thinking by adopting a dog! I tried other, less expensive, forms of training and nothing was working. Then I found Ryanne and Bark Busters. Her training has been worth every penny, and more. In 5 weeks my dog is now housebroken, walks beside me beautifully, doesn’t nip, jump, run through doors, sits, stays, and is a very well behaved little dog!! Ryanne has taught me the tools to correct my dog when needed and I couldn’t be happier! Ryanne is a real pleasure to work with, is responsive, somehow knows what Ollie is thinking, and our favorite Alpha!! Thank you, Ryanne!!!
The change over three sessions has been incredible. Ryanne has been a joy to work with. Still more work to do...mostly on changing the humans.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to give more than 5 stars but Google seems pretty particular. Suffice it to say Bark Busters, and Omar in particular, are MIRACLE WORKERS. 3 year old CUJO dog that is now calm cool and collected. After TWO MEETINGS. We were skeptical as it sounds too good to be true but our dog is living furry proof.
I highly recommend training with Bark Busters. Ryanne has helped us tremendously with our two year old dog. He was definitely acting as “leader of the pack” around our house. The methods Ryanne is teaching us to improve our dog’s behavior is so effective you won’t believe it until you try it.
Ryanne and Omar have 100% changed my life! Before Bark Busters I was told that I would have to put my dog down or give him away because of his aggression. Now he’s happy and everyone else in my family is happy!
We have a large (50+ lbs.) 7-month-old German Shephard. Big dog but he is still a puppy (Teddy). After an initial consultation with Ryanne to discuss the behavioral issues that we were having, she was quickly able to help us establish ourselves as leaders for Teddy. After we learned to speak dog, Teddy began to respond immediately during the first session. We are continuing to practice with him and progress is moving along just fine. We would have never thought of a way to communicate with Teddy without using treats and discipline.
After just one session I noticed a huge change in my dogs behavior and felt like I had a variety of tools to support my dog. Ryanne is knowledgeable and friendly. She makes herself available for support between sessions and it’s clear she is truly passionate about what she does. I would highly recommend Ryanne and the Bark Busters model to anyone who wants support in having a happy and healthy dog.
I cannot say enough good things about Ryanne and Bark Busters! The training, support and guidance that Ryanne has provided for us and our dog Coco has truly changed our family! Our rescue dog Coco was struggling with her behavior when guests came over and encounters with other dogs, from the first session we saw immediate changes with Coco. We have a truly happier dog and everyone is beyond impressed with the changes. Ryanne is always willing to help and goes above and beyond - we cannot recommend Bark Busters enough!
We enlisted Bark Busters to help with our 4 year old lab mix who was getting a bit too territorial about the yard. Ryanne and Omar were great in helping us recognize the signs of escalating behaviors and taught us how to stop them before they got started, keeping our dog in the Green Zone. Our dog’s behavior has modified greatly, and he seems less anxious and happier. Ryanne was great about keeping in touch and checking in on our progress. We like Bark Busters philosophy and are very happy we enlisted them!
We rescued our dog, Rutabaga, when she was about 1 year old, and she's now 7.5. We've always had issues with barking, and now that we are expecting a baby, we decided we needed to do more than just correcting/treats. Omar came out for our first appointment, and we learned about the psychology behind a lot of her behavior. It has been 4 days, and we've already noticed a difference. Obviously we still have plenty of work to do, but we can't get over the changes we've already seen! We love that these results aren't based on any kind of physical punishment, and Rutabaga genuinely seems calmer. We're so excited to continue working with her, and are just thrilled with the progress so far.
Omar Bark Busters! Bar None!
I hv a puppy growing to b a big big dog. His behaviors from being a rescue pup needed to be changed asap as he would be around babies & toddlers. (For our experience, After just 1 session with Omar, he showed us & brought out the sweetheart of the dog we actually have.) I've had dogs for 50 years, but one lesson with Omar not only changed my puppy's behavior but mine & my whole family-including our other dog we had no concern with. No gimmicks, no hving to carry treats around, nothing punitive. . Omar in one visit changed our viewpoint & put the power back into our hands that I didn't realize I was missing. I can now stop majority of my dogs "bad" behaviors saying 1 word w/o getting out of my chair & I can do it from the next room. Omar has an immediate presence when he enters the house & u can tell my dogs notice as well. Omar demeanor is positive, calm, control of the situation. He assessed our family-dog dynamic down to the detail & aligned our sessions w that in mind. In-between sessions, we can call, text, email as often as we need to & Omar will respond same day. He loves dogs & sees the best in my dogs including their individual specialpersonalities. I would text Omar about a success moment & he was thrilled as we were. If there was a regress moment or an unexpected/new behavior popped up- I texted Omar & very quickly got in touch w me on how to handle & correct the behavior. We don't hv anymore anxiety if something pops up that is going to take more', Omar is 1 text away. Thank you so much Omar!
We were at 6 months with our new puppy and she was as lawless as could be (jumping on people, barking at every little noise, counter surfing, pulling on the leash). We tried treats for training and she learned a few commands but wouldn’t do them on command without the treats. Enter Bark Busters. Within the first 2 hours we had the respect of our dogs and a way to uphold the laws of the household. We feel in control and equipped with the tools to keep it that way. No shock collars, no treats, only respect. IMMENSE Thanks to Omar and the BarkBusters techniques!
Dog resource guarding a bone

Is Your Dog Aggressively Resource Guarding?

Resource guarding is one of the most common forms of aggression we see in Dakota County, Lakeville & Woodbury. This is when a dog becomes aggressive, or sometimes called protective or territorial, when guarding a high-value item. Basically, your dog is attempting to assert their ownership over something important to them - toy, bed, treat, food, water, or even a favorite human.

Aggression, of any kind, whether directed towards humans or other animals is not a personality type, it’s a learned behavior. Most often aggression is caused by fear, which mixed with adrenaline and inappropriate education can be a recipe for danger. At Bark Busters Dakota County, Lakeville & Woodbury we firmly believe that no dog is beyond help.

If your dog exhibits any form of aggressive behavior, like resource guarding, it’s important to get the help of a professional. We can help you assess the root cause of your dog’s behavior and help you implement strategies to resolve the issues.

And, in the meantime, the most important thing you can do to help your dog is to prevent situations that may lead to aggressive behavior. Make sure your dog's basic needs are being met. Manage your dog’s exposure to problem situations. Prevention is always the best precaution.

If you’re struggling with your dog’s resource guarding, we're here to help! We have extensive experience working with dog owners to help resolve their dog's resource guarding.
