Welcome! My name is Robert Machi and I’m your local Bark Busters trainer. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help you. 

The Bark Busters training system is so unique. I love what I do now as much as I did when I first joined in August 2004. I am so lucky to have learned this amazing method of teaching people how to effectively communicate with their fur babies.

When I joined Bark Busters, my life changed in unexpected but incredible ways! I have always loved dogs but never imagined I could have a career working with them.

Dogs are such a huge part of my life. I have four dogs in my family – Pawlie, a 9 year old, 190 lb. Great Dane, and 3 (yes, 3!) 8 year old Boston Terrier siblings named Gus, George, and Franki Girl.

Now in my 22nd year, I have helped almost 3,000 families in our area to improve their dogs' behavior whether it's a hyperactive Labrador puppy, a recently adopted Pitbull from a local shelter, or a stubborn 10 year old Yorkie.

I am a Master Dog Trainer and Dog Behavioral Therapist and Winner of the 2006 Bark Busters Founders Award (1st U.S. trainer to ever receive that honor). I am recommended by more than 35 veterinary offices on Staten Island and Brooklyn.

Whether it's teaching good habits to your new puppy, or resolving long-time dog behavioral issues, I have many years of experience tackling issues large and small. With dog-friendly methods, our training is humane and produces results that last a lifetime!

Robert began the training 20 minutes before our scheduled time with a call to our house to explain techniques to help with our dog that races to the door and excitedly greets guests by jumping on them. Then he patiently spent three hours with us to go over methods to establish boundaries that helped with our real challenge: a 65lb dog that likes to pull. I’m amazed at the progress we’ve made in just two days. Turns out WE needed the training and Robert was an excellent teacher for us all. We’d highly recommend.

We have three dogs of different ages and breeds and there can be chaos in the house at times. Immediately after Robert stepped into the house and started implementing his techniques we saw improvement with our dog’s behaviors. Their barking and jumping was able to be controlled. Robert clearly explained his techniques and how to perform them and why they work. He then worked with us to ensure we grasped how to follow what he did and make sure our dogs listened to us. The improvement we saw in just a few hours convinced us we made the right decision in calling Robert for his help! Robert is great!!

Rob taught us how to handle situations where our dog is barking, jumping, pulling and being aggressive. She is super anxious all the time and has separation anxiety. By the second day Miles' problems improved by 85%-AMAZING!!!!!! Barking decreased by over 90%. Training on all aspects taught and rules that have been established has astonished me to no end (after 2 days). His Leashing pulling, a big problem we previously had, has dramatically been reduced (NO MORE PRONG COLLAR). I am extremely happy with my results after 2 days. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Robert is a great trainer. There are general trainings tools found on the internet but Robert does an amazing job at taking into consideration your environment, your lifestyle and your puppies temperament to create a specialized training for your needs. He tries to hit all the goals you have. He’s very responsive and often checks in on you, although training absolutely requires your consistency, it’s super helpful to have someone hold you accountable as well. I have a mini Aussie Shepard who’s timid and shy, many typical training tools would not work for her, it was nice that Robert recognized this and steered me away from those that might actually have made behaviors much worse. Very happy I signed up for Bark Busters, it’s been the best decision : )
