Johnny has been essential to our understanding of our girl Pepper. He is always quick to response and flexible with his schedule for training. He has given us tools to better manage our dogs stubborn nature and encourage her positive behavior. Pepper has become a better family pup thanks to the skills Johnny has taught us and we are so grateful for his knowledge and support throughout our puppy training adventure.

Photo of Willow I was a new dog owner with an 8 week Puppy and needed someone to train myself and my dog!! After multiple phone interviews with different trainers I decided on Barkbusters of Lake Norman. Diane and John are not only very knowledgeable but extremely kind and patient. Their techniques were easy for both myself and Willow and I saw great improvement after each visit that was sustainable They are the best I highly recommend them

We LOVE Bark Busters. We had used them once before when we lived in a different state. When we moved, Bark Busters was right there to help us re-train our older dog in his new environment. The BEST thing about Bark Busters is that it is a ONE-TIME fee for the life of your dog. For the life of your dog you can call BB at any stage and they will be there to help. As I said earlier, we used BB in a different state, we moved, called them and they sent a new trainer.

Now that we have a brand new puppy (my gawd we forgot how much work they can be! :)) Johnny @ Bark Busters has been amazing helping us set appropriate expectations, training tips, etc. He even will help us via text between appointments, which has been not only helpful, but like having an extra support system as we are navigating puppy-hood again! We are forever grateful for him and look forward to our training appts. He never rushes an appointment and always listens to all our concerns and crazy questions and takes the time to answer them all! Highly recommend!

We adopted our 4 month old puppy and realized that he was going to be a a big fella especially since his paperwork initially had Mastiff. My husband and I agreed we needed to look into a professional trainer for our young pup now rather than later. After some research we found Barkbusters who directed us to our great trainer, Joanne Rice.

From day one we saw an improvement in behavior. We enjoyed the homework too (it’s not just the trainer needing the direction). While we didn’t think our puppy was too naughty he did need training on commands to come and stay, go up and down stairs and many other commands as he wasn’t a great listener at times..

Joanne was patient and made the training process easy without overwhelming our puppy and us. Our puppy recently had a “moment” with our new furniture. One reach out to Joanne and she responded quickly with a reminder of a training tactic as well as toys that could assist us with the training to alleviate the behavior.

We would definitely recommend Joanne for your dog trainer. She is professional, prompt, understanding, a great listener and patient. We can’t thank her enough.

People comment all the time on how our puppy is so well behaved. In fact, I think we have a family member that was happy that our puppy was “not perfect after all” when he has the furniture incident. That behavior has been addressed and he is still our Shining Star!

Photo of Colby / Dio / Faye All of our major issues were addressed, and we saw our dogs reacting immediately with the results we were looking for. Our trainer had great communication and a positive attitude. I would defiantly recommend to others!

We had a really great session today. We addressed basic leash manners and front door manners. We also focused on Dio's separating anxiety, and he responded very well. I am looking forward to their progress over the coming weeks.

Johnny Jumper is AMAZING!!! He is the "Cesar Millan" of Orange County. Our dog Bear showed significant improvement after just one training visit. Johnny is professional and always goes above and beyond for his clients. Our dog has continued to grow and thrive due to Johnny's training/leadership. I highly recommend Johnny and Bark Busters. We are very happy with the results.

We had just adopted our rescue Bichon, Missy, only two weeks before calling Johnny @ Bark Busters.
On his initial visit, he first took the time to get to know Missy and listen to what our issues were. We then went over each issue with Johnny and Missy, then on our own. We were surprised when our session went way over the estimated time, but Johnny understood what we needed to get through before he left us, and we did. We have seen tremendous improvement with Missy, and are almost to the point of scheduling our second session.
We would recommend Bark Busters and especially Johnny Jumper for anyone who has a dog with issues, or needs behavioral work.

A few short weeks ago, our 4 dogs (yes 4, it’s a long story) were completely out of control. I couldn’t walk in my front door without being jumped on and scratched from ankle to hip. They barked uncontrollably at every knock and doorbell ring (including the perceived ring of Uber Eats commercials that were clearly contrived by cat owners). They rushed the door, crowded us when we sat down to dinner, the list goes on. All the “bad” dog behavior you can think of, they did it. And most critically, they began to fight. When we added the 4th dog to our long time pack of 3, chaos ensued as they attempted to figure out the pecking order. The newest (and youngest) addition began to challenge the alpha matriarch. We knew we had to make a change when one was seriously injured (don’t worry dear readers, she is happy and healthy now). We were consumed by guilt. How could we, experienced and long time dog owners, have failed so miserably? First, we reached out to a local trainer recommended by our vet. Much to our shock, before conducting any training or assessments, they told us rehoming was the only option. Devastated, we sought a second opinion and found Lori online. And let me tell you, this woman is an answer to our prayers. After the first training session, we felt empowered to restore harmony in our home by taking command of our pack. The “bahh” (you’ll know when you know) took some getting used to, but by the end of the session we saw massive behavior improvement that has only continued each day with consistent (and frankly easy) training. Lori taught us how to “speak dog” and be the leaders of our pack. Not only are we happier, but our dogs are clearly happier too. They look to us for direction instead of fighting amongst themselves. And our most perfect alpha matriarch (who is a tripod by the way) is finally at ease without the pressure of keeping everyone in line. Lori changed our lives and never once made us feel like bad dog owners. You won’t regret the decision to welcome her into your home.

    Hi Chelsea,
Thank you so much for the wonderful review!
It was my pleasure to help you train your "pack" and it was great to see how they all responded. You've done a great job with them and keep up the good work you are doing.
Please call me anytime as I'm happy to come back to help you in the future.
    Thanks,

Photo of Kona and Sunny Diane and John are so knowledgeable and kind! Admittedly, I was skeptical of dog training that isn't based on treats OR punishment, but I'm a believer now. It didn't take long for us to realize that we were the ones that need training. I mean, we were doing things all wrong and our dogs had US trained! And by "we" I mostly mean my husband. We've only had one visit from Diane and John so far, and we've been practicing what we learned in the initial consultation. In just 9 days, these two dogs have learned to walk on loose leashes. Prior to starting with Bark Busters, I was not physically able to walk either of these girls by myself because they pulled like sled dogs 100% of the time. This made me sad because they LOVE going on walks. Now I feel "in control" on our short walks. We will build on that and increase the length of walks as well as introducing "distractions". We're also working or reactivity to visitors at the front door. The techniques we learned in visit #1 are working well so far and the barking and lunging at the door is dramatically decreased. We still have lots of work to do, but I am so happy that we called Bark Busters. Their pricing is very reasonable, especially considering they offer a lifetime guarantee. Besides, you will learn so much from them that you can apply to any future pets that might find their way into your home...like they do! I seriously wish I had known what they taught me on day 1 thirty years ago.
