Home Dog Training in San Mateo County, CA

Live a Happier Life Together with Your Dog!

At Bark Busters, we clear up the miscommunication between dogs and humans, which is at the root of many dog behavioral issues, by teaching everyone to speak the same language – dog!

My nurturing, dog-friendly approach teaches pet parents the same natural communication methods that dogs understand instinctively – all in the safe, familiar environment of your own home.

In-Home Dog Training, Remarkable Results

Dogs learn best in a familiar, safe environment, free of outside distractions and disruptions. That’s why I come directly to your home, on your schedule, to build an effective foundation for better dog behavior. This means faster, longer-lasting solutions for you and your dog.

We believe in empowering dog owners with simple, effective, time-efficient, and cruelty-free techniques that will work alongside dogs’ natural instincts.

How I Can Help

Bark Busters is the worldwide leader of in-home dog training. Whether teaching good habits to your new puppy, introducing dog obedience training, or resolving severe dog behavioral issues, I can partner with you to tackle your dog's behavior issues large and small, such as:

  • Aggression. Dogs are not born aggressive. Does your dog act aggressively toward food, balls, people or other dogs? If so, learn why and how to change that behavior.
  • Barking. Most often, dogs bark as a way of communicating. Sometimes, barking is appropriate and sometimes, it's not. Learn to “speak dog” to help you better communicate with your pup.
  • Destruction. Is your dog chewing your shoes? gnawing on furniture? tearing through the garbage? This behavior can be corrected with our proven training techniques.
  • Digging. Digging is a common behavior for many dogs but no one wants their garden or lawn torn up! Let's teach your dog to stop digging.
  • Jumping. Avoid the embarrassment of having your dog jump on guests with our in-home training and prevent this annoying, and potentially dangerous, behavior.
  • Leash pulling. Do you walk your dog, or does your dog walk you? Good leash manners can be taught so you can enjoy walking your dog.
  • Puppy training. Start puppy training now and build a strong bond founded on leadership, trust, and respect, between you and your new canine companion.
  • Separation anxiety. We want nothing more than for your canine companion to be happy, calm, safe, and secure. Let's work together to ensure your dog feels comfortable being home alone.
  • Sibling rivalry. Like humans, dogs may get jealous, and territorial, but rivalry among dogs in your home can be addressed and corrected.
  • Territory marking. It's instinctual for dogs to mark what they consider 'their territory' with urine, but you can prevent unwanted markings in your home with our training advice.
  • Whining. Dogs use their body language and voice tones to communicate. Learn why your dog whines to reduce the urge to whine and better communicate with your dog.
  • And More!

When you Learn to Speak Dog the Bark Busters Way, you get real results – and nurture positive relationships and lasting emotional bonds with your canine family member.

About your Expert Dog Trainer & Dog Behavioral Therapist, Dalila Ortiz

I grew up rescuing and rehabilitating all kinds of animals, from street dogs and cats to wild and exotic birds and reptiles. I studied community health science at Texas Women’s University and then went to work as a special education teacher in the public sector for several years.

I then moved to San Francisco where my partner and I adopted a very cute and lovable but also very fearful and reactive pitbull named Indy. She was housed at the SFPCA shelter for over nine months before we met her and fell in love with her big head and oversized ears. As it turns out, she was so sweet and lovable but just needed to learn to trust us and become more confident in her surroundings. She suffered from "stranger danger" and leash reactivity. Anytime we took her on walks she would bark, lunge, and pull at any person or dog that she saw. Even though I had experience with many different animal temperaments, I was at a loss with how to help our pooch cope in the outside world.

After much internet research and YouTube training videos we finally enlisted Bark Busters to help with our precarious pup. We met with Karen, our local Bark Busters trainer, and saw results within the first session! I was hooked and when the opportunity arose, I seized the chance to become a Bark Busters Home Dog Trainer myself to make an impact in my own community helping other dog owners with similar needs.

As an animal lover, a former Bark Busters client myself, and now a certified Bark Busters dog trainer and behavioral therapist, I can't wait to meet you and your pup and help you to live a happier life together with you dog using Bark Busters effective, humane, and efficient dog training methods.
