About your Expert Dog Trainer & Dog Behavioral Therapist, Dalila Ortiz

I grew up rescuing and rehabilitating all kinds of animals, from street dogs and cats to wild and exotic birds and reptiles. I studied community health science at Texas Women’s University and then went to work as a special education teacher in the public sector for several years.

I then moved to San Francisco where my partner and I adopted a very cute and lovable but also very fearful and reactive pitbull named Indy. She was housed at the SFPCA shelter for over nine months before we met her and fell in love with her big head and oversized ears. As it turns out, she was so sweet and lovable but just needed to learn to trust us and become more confident in her surroundings. She suffered from "stranger danger" and leash reactivity. Anytime we took her on walks she would bark, lunge, and pull at any person or dog that she saw. Even though I had experience with many different animal temperaments, I was at a loss with how to help our pooch cope in the outside world.

After much internet research and YouTube training videos we finally enlisted Bark Busters to help with our precarious pup. We met with Karen, our local Bark Busters trainer, and saw results within the first session! I was hooked and when the opportunity arose, I seized the chance to become a Bark Busters Home Dog Trainer myself to make an impact in my own community helping other dog owners with similar needs.
