Could not recommend Bark Busters enough.

We called Kevin to help us with our blind 2 year old Aussie mix. He was getting the (wrong) idea that he was in charge of the house and neighborhood. Barking, lunging, pulling at the leash, guarding the front door. We were worried this would lead to a bite. Kevin showed up promptly and calmly. He efficiently sussed out the household. We have an elderly dog who is generally well behaved, but Kevin determined that we actually work with both dogs because we were basically a pack and the pack had no real leader. He taught us how to properly communicate with our dogs using dog language, and how to let them know that we are the ones in charge. The change seemed on the verge of a miracle and everything turned around for us after only one session. No crazy leash walking, no barking at dogs and humans. The house is calm and the dogs honestly seem happier. I recommend Bark Busters to friends who come over and wish their dogs behaved like ours!

I needed in-home training so that I could be trained to get my dog into a crate when I’m away from home. My trainer Karen got me working on some preliminary tasks, but within the allotted timeframe, my dog was going into his crate! This was a huge load off my mind. I also learned the benefit of a good growl and appropriate praise. It’s best to have the dog learn house manners in your own home.

    Larry,

I am so glad you found us. Crate training is never easy but with patience and consistency on your part, it will payoff in the long term! I am excited about the work we are doing together as a team!

Photo of Bruce & Pepper I have to say, I wasn’t totally convinced I’d see a difference in behavior after that first visit. I was hopeful, but a little skeptical.
When Sarah arrived, we sat down and talked about my dogs. I have two; 5 month old female lab/pit mix, Pepper, and 4 year old make pit/kelpie mix, Bruce. After talking me through the process and explaining why dogs behave certain ways, I was an intrigued to see how my dogs would react. Within 20 minutes, Sarah met my babies. Bruce was calm, but excited; Pepper was her crazy little puppy self, jumping and licking and nipping at Sarah. Within a minute, that behavior stopped and if it started to show its face again, it was gone again in a matter of seconds. No bribing with treats, no yelling, no touching. She just spoke their language!! Sarah was calm, yet assertive, confident and encouraging. The dogs reacted to her as if she’d been their pack leader forever!! Over the next three hours we worked through the process, allowing me to take the lead and showing the dogs that I could lead them too. She left us with homework and an appointment for our next visit. When she says consistency is key, she isn’t kidding! It’s like I have two different dogs now that I’m speaking their language! We have boundaries. Walks are calm. I get to walk up the stairs without being tripped! I’m so much more relaxed! And they are so happy!
TRUST her when she says you will notice a difference after that first visit! I witnessed it! I’m living it! She’s amazing and encouraging to both dogs and owners!!
I am forever grateful to you, Sarah. I cannot wait to show you the progress we’ve made in such a short amount of time and I can’t wait for you to meet my grand dog, Morty!!
Thank you, Sarah! You are incredible at what you do! I cannot thank you enough!!!

We recently moved to the Des Moines area and our dogs were having issues adjusting to the new house and their respective roles/jobs in our new home. My wife called Bark Busters as we signed up our dogs for training previously with Bark Busters when we lived in another state. One of the major reasons we chose Bark Busters was because they offered life long support for the life of our dogs, even if we moved. Deb responded to our inquiry in a timely manner and she came to our home to assist. Deb made more of a connection with her refresher course than we had gotten from the original training.

Photo of Frankie Frankie is our 1-year-old male Schipperke. They are a strong willed and very intense breed. We were experiencing some behavior issues with him, and I heard about Bark Busters at our veterinary office. I signed him up and Deb Boswell came out to our place in early February. She immediately got his attention and started showing us some of the training techniques they teach. We were quite surprised in how quickly he learned that he was not the boss anymore.
Deb has made one other follow up visit, and we have her phone number if we have any questions or need further visits.
He is making progress and are very satisfied with the Bark Busters program.

Photo of Ripley and Harley We were very impressed with Amber. She was very patient with us and our companions. The techniques she taught us are very helpful. The information she provided in continuing the training after she is gone will help us make sure our companions are successful in learning their new lessons.

Photo of Harley It took one session. One, and Harley learned to look to us for direction when she saw another dog or squirrel immediately instead of becoming a crazed, prey driven beast.

I almost emailed Mark after the first day, because the change was so incredible. On our first encounter walking, she got one reminder from me and that was all it really took. Not only did she start walking behind me on our walks, she looks at passing dogs, looks at me, and then just keeps going - zero fuss. We've stopped and watched squirrels calmly and she no longer vocally alerts us to passers by from her couch perch. My husband is thrilled with how well she is behaving in the yard and even had her sit calmly next to him while he pet a passing dog over the fence. She and the other dog even "met" through the fence, with no hackles or teeth and calm, wagging tails. We're both in awe of how quickly and well it worked when we committed to it and have been consistently owning the space and reminding her she can count on us to be in charge.

I know she will test us, but we know this works and will stay vigilant. We're so happy to see how successful we've been so far and how relaxed she now is just hanging out without having to be on constant alert. Thanks Mark!

Photo of Pixie Michelle was extremely knowledgeable and patient. The first session has already made such a difference in Pixie's puppy habits, and there are quite a few. I'm positive it will only get better using the training and tools Michelle has given us.
