We found James and Bark Busters after searching for training that didn’t rely on rewards. We got so much more! We have a 3-pack of happy chill hounds that coexist in ways in our home with our young kids we had only dreamed of. Through James’ and Bark Busters methods we have gotten to know our dogs more as who they are individually but more importantly how they function as a pack that we are part of. We had previously done traditional obedience training with two of the three dogs and it was lengthy, exhausting and just way too time consuming, resulting in commands that did not stand the test of time.
PermalinkBark Busters method of behavioral training is transformative in a way that makes it natural for the dogs (and humans!) to follow and the results happened quickly for our pack by spending 10-15mins a day working with the dogs.
We loved that the majority of the training took place in our home where the most correction was needed and then we built upon that work by adding some tweaks to our leash/walking techniques that really dialed everything in.
Make the investment in your pet. James has a gift and will help build a relationship with your pups (or pack) you have been hoping for!

Scott seems to know exactly how our puppy Hazel operates. She becomes a totally obedient girl with his methods, despite her crazy Lab puppy energy. The walking and leash training has helped us exponentially. I can walk Hazel myself without feeling like I can’t control her. Scott always comes with new ideas when I feel like Hazel isn’t responding to me. I am looking forward to watching all the progress she continues to make (because she still is a crazy lab puppy).

Since our first session with Steven and with the homework exercises we’ve been doing consistently, we’ve been able to rebalance the leadership dynamics in our home and introduce much-needed structure and rules. The difference in Miki’s behavior has been remarkable—he is so much calmer and more responsive.
PermalinkWhat we appreciate most is that this training is done entirely out of love and focuses on canine communication rather than a punishment/reward system. It has helped us better understand Miki’s needs and how to guide him in a way that makes him feel secure and balanced.
This training is truly beneficial for anyone willing to put in the work. Consistency with the exercises is key, but it is absolutely worth it. We feel like we have a new dog, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Highly recommend Steven!

Natalie is the best thing that happened to our little blended family. Mine and my partner’s respective dogs were not getting along. There was fighting, and even bloodshed. Natalie’s expertise got us through to the results we were hoping for. It is clear to us that she really cares about our dogs, and what we are all going through. I can’t recommend her and Bark Busters enough.

I adopted my mixed breed dog after he bit the former owner’s neighbor and had to be removed from the home. Knowing that the bite might not have been a “fluke” or “one time issue,” I contacted Bark Busters of So CT for help. After just one 2-hr evaluation/training session, my husband and I saw the notable difference in Blackie’s behavior with strangers. Mike taught us how to parent Blackie in order to prevent aggression before it starts. The training techniques are simple and effective. After the 2nd session we learned how to reduce Blackie’s separation anxiety. Blackie still has some room for improvement, but the improvement is remarkable. Thank you for your help, Mike - you relieved a lot of my stress.

I can't say enough good things about BarkBusters. Their deep understanding of dog psychology and behavior made an incredible difference in my dog’s temperament in just two weeks. They use excellent tools and techniques to redirect unwanted behaviors effectively, and the results have been very good—my dog is now calmer, happier, and more secure in her place within our "pack."
