In-Home Dog Training and Puppy Training in South Austin & Surrounding Suburbs!

Welcome. I am Amanda Adams, your local South Austin Bark Busters Trainer & Dog Behavioral Therapist. I've been a "dog person" my entire life! I've lived in Texas since 2013 and since arriving in Austin, I haven't looked back! I'm a dog mom to two Pugs, a Rottweiler and a German Shepherd mix, but in addition to my own four pups, I am an avid volunteer for the Austin Pug Rescue, so my extended canine family is vast!

Before joining the Bark Busters family, I worked with dogs daily, running my own doggie daycare, in addition to boarding and walking dogs. While I loved this work, many of my clients were struggling with dog behavior issues. Now, I'm thrilled to be able to help these families live happier lives together with their canine family members!

The Bark Buster training methods are efficient and results oriented. I prioritize clear communication and leadership while addressing issues in the locations they occur. This means faster, longer-lasting solutions for you and your dog.

I work with you in your own home and tailor our dog and puppy training methods to your specific goals and to meet your dog’s unique needs. When you Learn to Speak Dog the Bark Busters Way, you get real results – and nurture positive relationships and lasting emotional bonds with your canine family member.

Amanda has been amazing in her work with our 4 year old “puppy “. In just a couple visits we have already seen some marked improvements in Winnie’s behavior, especially around people and other dogs. We are really excited about this progress! Going on our first pack walk tonight!
...Our 12-week-old Biewer Terrier was transformed after just one session with her. He’s already crate trained in only two weeks, and the difference in his behavior is night and day. The first week with our new puppy was tough, and we were starting to lose hope. Amanda’s expertise, patience, and clear training methods made all the difference. She tailored everything to our puppy’s needs and gave us the tools to succeed. We couldn’t be happier with the results and highly recommend Amanda to anyone looking for an exceptional dog trainer!
...amazed at how quickly my dog began to respond as I utilized the instructions that Amanda gave me to stop his bad habits. I’m looking forward to instilling in myself the methods that clearly work so well. There is more to come, but in the meantime, I shall practice what I’ve learned so that my relationship with my dog improves exponentially.
...One lesson and our girl is so much better. She is listening, not barking at other dogs, and all around more focused. We have been trying to work with her on our own, but weren’t successful. We made the decision to invest in our dogs and what a difference it has made. Worth the money and time.
Love the program and loved Amanda!
Bark Busters has been amazing and helped get our household back on track. My partner and I felt stuck and frustrated with our large-breed dog, who would practically pull our arms off during walks. Within just one session, Amanda gave us the tools we needed to manage our dog's behavior.
We are absolutely thrilled with Amanda and the incredible transformation she has brought to our home! Our seven-year-old vet and our five-month-old rescue were having a tough time adjusting to our household dynamics, but after just a few lessons with Amanda, we've seen remarkable improvements. The dogs have responded beautifully to her training methods—what's even more impressive is that they're following direction without needing treats as a motivator!

Thanks to Amanda’s expert guidance, both our pups are now able to coexist peacefully with our small children, which was a real challenge before. On top of her expertise, Amanda has such a fun and engaging personality that makes the whole process enjoyable. She’s not just a fantastic dog trainer, but also someone who truly makes the experience feel like a partnership.

We’re so grateful for her help and highly recommend her to anyone looking to strengthen the bond between their dogs and family!
Amanda is a God send!! We have had continual issues with our dogs and we have had multiple trainers either not believe us or provide guidance that did not prove effective. We were desperate for change and Amanda provided that. After the first session we had tools to address the biggest issues with our dog and felt like we had control once again. I also love that her service is more than just a few training sessions, we can message her for questions and there are scheduled pack walks every week.
WOW! Amanda came out and within the first session, my dogs responded perfectly! I was ready to rehome them because I was frustrated with their behavior and no clue what to do. A trainer was my last resort, and Bark Buster’s called me back promptly and put us on the schedule. Amanda talked with us for a long time to understand what was going on and what my goals were. She taught me to talk to them like a dog not a human and immediately they responded! I’m in love with my dogs again❤️ Worth the call and money!
I have an amazing dog, really. But, we had an issue with manners, boundaries and walking. The first session we had with Amanda, teddy wasn't as involved. She took time with the family unit to understand our dynamics and how we interact with not only each other but with Teddy. I love how she called out human behavior that impacts a dogs stability and made real (and realistic) recommendations that made such a huge impact in the first session. I mean, I feel like I have a lot more power in my household and boundaries while still loving my Teddy as intensely as I do. We have our next session tomorrow and I can't tell you how excited I am to hit the next milestone under her direction. Are you thinking about getting a dog trainer? Call her. She's amazing.
Amanda was very attentive and thorough. I have two rescues dogs with aggression and hyperactivity issues.the initial intake was very thorough and she assessed all of the needs of the household. Quite a bit of initial tips and lessons were given to control my dogs hyperactivity issues. I can already see the results. I look forward to ongoing sessions and support. I highly recommend her.
I started using Bark Busters Dog Training in 2018 after my dog and I were attacked by an off leash dog while on a walk. It was a traumatizing experience for both of us and we desperately needed help with walking/leash training after the incident. Our trainer not only helped rehabilitate my pup, but me as well and we couldn’t feel more grateful. Recently, my dog started having issues with separation anxiety and marking in the house, so I gave Bark Busters a call. When I called, they still have my information on file (6 years later). I set up a follow-up visit a week later, free of charge. Bark Busters dog training truly offers lifetime support. Our new trainer, Amanda was warm, friendly, and energetic and it was evident that my dogs loved her energy. I’ve noticed improvement in my dog’s current issues only a week after Amanda’s visit and we look forward to continuing to work with her.
I can't express enough gratitude for the phenomenal work done by Amanda. After years of struggling with my 7-year-old doodle's reactivity, I had almost given up hope on the possibility of her being able to walk by another dog without lunging, barking, and/or growling. Prior to reaching out to Amanda, I had spent years working with other trainers and put my dog through numerous training programs, all of which showed minimal, short-term improvements at best and never addressed the root cause of her behavioral issues. When Amanda came to my home it was clear that she is extremely passionate about her work and genuinely cares about helping dogs along with their owners. I immediately felt like I could trust her and it was obvious that she has a deep understanding of dog behavior and psychology. Amanda is the only trainer that has been able to significantly reduce my dog’s reactivity and this change has been long-lasting. I no longer worry about taking her for walks in crowded parks around lots of other dogs, which is something I never thought would be possible. If you're struggling with your furry friend's behavior, I wholeheartedly recommend reaching out to Amanda. Trust me; you won't regret it. I am eternally grateful for her expertise, kindness, and the life-changing impact she's had on me and my dog.
Jill was very reactive when on leash for other dogs. It was a constant struggle on walks. We met Amanda in the mid-afternoon and joined her Pack walk later in the evening. Jill was a transformed dog. There were ~10 dogs around, and she was focused on me and barely looked at another dog. Amanda helped me take my little mutt go from a crazy to calm in just a few hours. We will keep practicing her training instructions so that we continue to reinforce the improvements.
If you’re reading this as a frustrated dog parent, look no further for any other trainer/ company. Absolutely go with Bark Busters!

Amanda, our trainer is a genius. She showed me this video of a mama dog correcting her pups
and this is what the leader of the pack (me) does. I’m basically mama grunting at them when they do anything out of line or any thing I want to correct. Amanda is super cool and personable and can show you so many ways to get your dogs in line. There’s obviously more to it than just grunting so make you’re appointment with this company!!! My dogs are happier dogs! My dogs don’t have anxiety and IIIIIIIIII don’t have anxiety. I can enjoy my dogs now!

It’s crazy. It’s totally working! No treat or punish training.

My Cooper is not fear barking and lunging at people and my other dog Hunny isn’t separation anxiety barking outside when she can’t see me.

It took one water spray and a grunt before she came inside; I closed the door again and she quietly, patiently waited to come in until I let her.

Some dogs are a little more stubborn (cooper has been surprisingly) but it’s working. Hunny fell in line immediately.

My dogs aren’t CRAZY! Amanda and I are working on leash training in 2 weeks. Potty/ crate training rn. No more pee pads.

This is what I’ve been needing in my home. Thank you Amanda!
Amanda is great. If I could give 10 stars, I would. She showed up at the house this evening and Freide was at the door waiting to jump on Amanda. Freide would not let me put the harness on her to restrain her.

After restraining Freide, we discussed our goals with Amanda. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. However Amanda had us crate Freide as we discussed what we would be doing moving forward. We then let Freide out and Amanda showed us how to keep Freide from jumping on the sofa, or even going towards the door, or kitchen.

I was totally amazed that in only 20 minutes Amanda had Freide from going on the couch, but towards the door and kitchen. We saw a totally different pup in 20 minutes of working with Amanda. I'm really looking forward to seeing more changes from Freide moving forward.
Amanda has been my dog trainer for a year and half now and the things she has taught me not only about my dogs, but about myself are truly life-changing. My dogs, Finley and Dakota, began fighting almost every day when my girlfriend and I moved into a new home. Our dogs could not even be in the same room together and now they are at the point where they play almost twice a day.

Amanda is so confident and knowledgeable and truly wants to educate others on how to communicate with dogs. She wants to share her expertise in order to make us as dog owners more confident and comfortable in our everyday lives. I could not be more grateful for not only the training that Amanda has given us and the dogs, but also the friendship that has come along with being a client of hers.

Even though she has an entire territory of clients, she makes each person and dog feel so special and remembered. Amanda has one of the most amazing memories and it just shows how much she cares about each of her clients. I am very grateful to have Amanda as our trainer and the community she has created.

She puts on weekly "pack walks" for her clients and having the opportunity to talk to other people with reactive dogs has allowed me to not be as embarrassed or feel so alone with my dog's issues. Dog owners everywhere experience these same problems and I am beyond grateful for this community that I never knew I needed.

I would highly recommend Amanda as a dog trainer!
Have a 4-year old lab/staffy mix who has gone through two trainers and a board & train. She would bark and charge at the door if she saw anything (sometimes when she just saw the wind blow), jump over the couch (and yes, over people sitting on the couch) to get to the door faster and pull so hard on her leash during walks. My husband was on the cusp of wanting her gone because we were about to have our first baby and we didn’t feel comfortable with her energy levels. He felt he had no control over her. I found Bark Busters through Google search and decided to reach out because I didn’t want to get rid of my dog. I thought, Third trainer’s a charm!
Amanda is a great trainer and good people! My dog responds well to the training and she doesn’t run our household anymore. She still barks at the door and that’s fine because she isn’t as wired and bossy as she was 2 months ago AND doesn’t pull on walks anymore. But most importantly, she has been great with our one week old son. She listens more to us because we have established more leadership.
The homework Amanda gives you is very helpful and you’ll have access to those resources forever if you ever forget some steps. It’s also lovely how reachable she is for any questions or concerns you may have. I definitely feel that my dog is being taken care of.
After just one session with Amanda, I've already recommended her to everyone I know. My dog was controlling my life and my space, and even just after the first day, she spent the entire night in her crate and did not whine or bark once. I'm noticing significant improvements and I feel a huge weight off my shoulders. Amanda has an unmatched understanding of the psychology of dogs. She also was a joy to be around and I got so many book and hair product recommendations out of her visit!
I had the privilege of working with Amanda, and I cannot recommend her enough. She has an exceptional understanding of dog behavior and an innate ability to connect with animals. From the very first session, I witnessed remarkable improvements in my German Shepherd's behavior.

What truly sets Amanda apart is not just her expertise but also her warm and caring nature. She genuinely cares about the well-being of both the dogs and their owners. She went above and beyond to ensure that we felt supported and equipped to continue Simon's training beyond the sessions.

I am immensely grateful to Amanda for her guidance and expertise. Thanks to her, Simon's behavior has transformed for the better, and our relationship with him has deepened. If you're looking for a skilled professional who is also a kind-hearted individual, Amanda is the perfect choice.
Amanda was absolutely amazing!! She was very informative and super patient with me and my dog and gave me a great structure on how to train my dog to not do certain things. From the beginning of our lesson to then end I was able to see a huge shift in my dogs behavior and the way he acted and it was amazing!! I wish I would’ve called sooner! So excited to see what else she brings and teaches me along the way!!
At first I was hesitant about the training just because I’ve heard a lot of different things about trainers and their methods but when I looked over the page and saw all the reviews I took the chance and was not disappointed. From the moment I input all my information to Amanda coming out to work with my dog and I, I was blown away. The attention she pays to not only my dog but me as well was mind blowing. You can tell she is passionate about what she does and really makes you feel heard but also holding you accountable. I may have only had 1 session so far but I’m so happy and cannot wait to see all the work she’s helped me with pay off for my pup and I! Id genuinely recommend to anyone having behavioral issues because she makes you feel heard and seen while having your back in order to help you and your pup. Her techniques aren’t aggressive at all and it’s a relief to see and hear that no e-collars or shock collars have to be used because she actually knows how to fix the problem without hurting or negatively affecting your dog. It was great. 10/10 for Amanda!
Fabulous! Where do I start? Let’s start with the foundation of Amanda, she’s definitely a big dog and what I mean by that is that she KNOWS her stuff…and she’s not afraid to share it with you! The entire time I felt more confident and in control of my household with two long-time resident dogs and newly adopted shelter dog than I did for a long time. I am optimistic that with understanding the behaviors of dogs, their thinking, and their basic needs — we can be better dog parent/leader.

While today was my first session and my household has pretty interesting multiple layers to it, I can imagine that some household would only require one session with Amanda. She’s amazing.

Another important note to add is that the adults in the household are deaf, and Amanda was such a great listener and teacher in figuring out what communication methods worked the best for all of us; including one of our dogs who is also deaf.

All in all, this was well worth the money, yes it’s pretty pricy, but the knowledge and support is worth it.
My husband and I learned so much from our very first visit with Amanda! Not only did we discuss techniques to lead our dogs, but a lot of the reasons that might have been causing some of the behaviors in the first place. We already have been able to replicate the strategies with very promising results! The energy level in our home is much different and more gentle this morning than yesterday before our first session. Because our impetus for calling was several yard escapes, this training we are getting could save our dog’s life- and there’s no dollar value for that! Thank you Amanda!
Amanda is wonderful. We recently rescued a 10-month-old dog 5 week ago, we were struggle with walks, calling, and anxiety (pacing within the house). We had our first session yesterday, immediate results. Amanda taught us how to communicate with our dog, and it was an instant change. She sent us great documentation afterward for us to continue working with our dog. Our cat even noticed the change, stopped hiding from him and was able to play with her toys for the first time in 5 weeks. We are super grateful to Amanda, and I would highly recommend her if you a getting a new dog, recently got a new dog, and/or have had a dog for awhile and need assistance on training.
Amanda was amazing… very patient and knowledgeable! Highly recommend! Seeing results 1st day
I'm so pleased!! Ivy's been a ball of anxiety for months and I had no idea of how to deal with it. After the first session, she's staying clam around her biggest triggers (cats, doorbell, me doing anything). She's always been a good dog, but now she's absolutely perfect

Should I Start Training My New Puppy Now?

Yes—starting early makes all the difference! I know how exciting (and overwhelming) it can be to bring a new puppy home. Just like toddlers, puppies need gentle guidance from the beginning to learn good manners and grow into calm, well-behaved dogs.

That’s why I offer in-home training for puppies—even those just a few weeks old. While most dog trainers won’t work with pups under six months, I believe the earlier we start, the better. I’ll come to your home, where your puppy feels safest, to help you build a strong foundation from day one. Together, we’ll tackle the most common puppy challenges, including:

  • Chewing
  • Playful Biting
  • Barking
  • Digging
  • Food Stealing
  • Potty Training
  • Separation Anxiety

With Bark Busters’ proven, dog-friendly methods and my personal support, you’ll learn how to communicate with your puppy in a way they truly understand. Dog with Behavior Issues Destroyed Wall

Are You Struggling with Your Dog’s Behavior?

You’re not alone—and I’m here to help. At Bark Busters Austin South, I specialize in behavioral training, not just basic obedience. While many trainers focus only on sit, stay, and leash walking, I work with families facing deeper issues like aggression, anxiety, sibling rivalry, and more. My goal is to get to the root of the problem, not just manage the symptoms. Together, we’ll create lasting solutions that work.

Some of the common behavioral issues I see from my clients include:

  • Aggression – Often driven by fear, insecurity, or a sense of needing to protect, aggressive behavior is rarely random. I help you understand what’s triggering it and guide your dog to feel safe and confident again.
  • Separation Anxiety – Dogs can grow accustomed to having their owners around and when left alone, some feel panic and confusion. I’ll show you how to ease that anxiety and build your dog’s independence.
  • Sibling Rivalry – Tension between dogs in the same household can escalate quickly. I help identify the cause and restore harmony in your home.

Whether you’ve just brought home a new puppy or are feeling overwhelmed by serious behavior issues, I’ll meet you where you are. I train dogs of any age, any breed, and any issue—with compassion, clarity, and a method that works.

Serving South Austin, San Marcos, New Braunfels, and nearby communities, I come to your home to work directly with you and your dog in the environment where problems actually happen. No judgments. Just real solutions. Let’s bring peace back into your home—reach out today.
