Within my first lesson with Scott, my terrier daschund mix went from aggression & resource guarding towards everyone (but me) to a much more relaxed dog that no longer lunges, nips and barks at others! It's the closest thing to a miracle, but it's based in science so I am sure it can work for you too. I learned what my dog needed from me and began speaking her language with positive changes immediately seen. The program does take regular effort but like anything, you can build new habits quickly when you see them paying off.

Scott is easy to work with and teaches in a learn-by-doing method as well as providing clear verbal and written education.

This process has been extremely positive for me and my dog. I know she will never be a chill "brewery" dog, but she is so much more relaxed and I now have the tools to keep her feeling safe and not stressed.

Scott was great! He quickly identified what my six month old puppy needed to control his jumping up on people when they come into the house, how to best handle common distractions while out walking, and the best way to help with separation anxiety. Where do I even start with this review! We contacted Bark Busters to help with our two young pitbulls who both deal with fear/reactivity and stranger danger, especially at our house (they bark and freak out at approaching visitors and it became a problem). We were put in contact with Scott and he came to our home to help us start to tackle these things in person in the environment that the trouble was happening. In the very first hour of training, we were not only taught about the basis of the behaviors and the animal psychology behind it, but also given highly effective communication skills and tools to use to immediately address the problem areas. We practiced these skills indoors with each dog, where seeing immediate behavior change felt like such a relief. We were then given practice and homework to continue reinforcing the new boundaries at home, which we have continued happily. I have noticed such a massive change in my dog's behavior, including in ways completely unrelated to the initial problem areas. He is calmer on car rides, more relaxed in public settings, and pays more attention to my communication and body language in our daily life. The basis of all of this was Scott teaching me how to use my body and my voice to tell my dog that he's safe, that I am in charge, and that I expect certain good behaviors. I was so afraid that a trainer would tell me to make my dog a submissive obedient robot, or tell me I had to stop being ridiculous and playful with my dog, or that I had to use physical force to fix these things. None of that was true. Scott is a dog dad too, and a major dog lover. He taught us communication skills that still allow us to have the loving, goofy relationship that we want with our pets while enforcing boundaries that make all of our lives easier. Scott is a great teacher and his ethos around dog behavior and training are kind, loving, and based in a real understanding of dog psychology. I am so thankful we found Bark Busters!! I have much more confident, calm dogs after just a few weeks of this new learning and I feel like I have the tools I need to continue being the dog mama that they need.

Scott was awesome! Our dog is anxious around new people and doesn’t listen to us when we tell him no. Just in our first session Scott was able to give us tools to fix these. Within that first hour we were able to correct our dog on a lot of his issues.

Scott was incredible. I cannot believe how quickly Milo responded to his techniques. He usually loses his marbles and barks and gets defensive over everyone, but after 15 minutes of Scott being present he was sitting at his feet being his buddy and loved him. I have seen my dog do this with anyone. I recommend him beyond words!!!

We just had our second training session with Bark Busters, and within 10 minutes, Elly was walking on leash at our side. He gave us some tips to handle barking across fences at dogs as well! We're super happy with the training, and Elly's barking has become much better and so much easier and simpler to manage. Guests can come in without fear of getting barked at for 10 minutes while we try to calm Elly down.

We have two dogs: a 6.5-year-old, 80-pound Black Lab mix, and an almost-1-year-old Corgi mix. The lab mix has always been pretty good inside, but we got her right before COVID started. Whenever the door opens, she freaks out and barks at and jumps all over whoever is coming in. Outside, she cannot be trusted off a leash, because she will just literally run away and come back when she feels like it. The Corgi mix is a sweet guy, but we got our first notice from our HOA that we have a nuisance dog. He has been incessantly barking in the hallway when we're out of the house. Walking them together is a nightmare because they both zip off in different directions, and you become an acrobat trying to manage the leashes. We attended initial 8-week training sessions at PetSmart with both of them, and they can sit and lay down, but anything more than that is wishful thinking, and a sit/stay does not really translate into actual obedience. Scott helped us fix almost all of that in about 90 minutes. Scott's approach is to talk to dogs like you're a dog. To get their attention, you basically growl at them and imitate (!) snapping at them if necessary (I want to emphasize that there is no physical punishment for the dogs), assert leadership, and then, when they are doing the right thing, talk to them sweetly. My husband and I love this because it's so simple and consistent. We don't have to remember when to use "stay" vs "wait." Which hand signal do we use for this command vs that command? It's "bah!" and "gooood!" The first session was all indoor behavior, and since then we've had two sets of friends over and gotten the lab calmed in about 2 min vs 10 before. The corgi is much less growly/barky about hallway noises. Since we did leash training in the second session, both dogs follow respectfully on walks. Like, it was a near instant improvement. It's not perfect, but with the lab it's gonna take some time because she's had 6 years of thinking she's the boss! But the technique is so simple that it's easy to apply to new situations. The lab likes to jump up to steal food from the counter at my dad's house. A few "bah!"s with follow-up "gooood"s and that stopped cold after 5 years of it being a habit, and we didn't need to leash her the entire time we were there! It's expensive, but the speed at which we've seen improvement has made it very worth it, and knowing we can call Scott for any stuff that comes up in the future makes the price easier to handle. For example, we're hoping just the general increased respect/deference from the lab mix will allow us to eventually let her off leash, but if it doesn't, we know we can call to address that directly. He is a gentle, amazing trainer with a gentle but controlling voice. I saw immediate results my first visit. The first trainer I tried prior to Scott used a prong collar on my puppy immediately and had my puppy suspended in the air attached to the prong collar. Scott was appalled and takes the time to listen to your every need and concern. He is extremely patient and on call to your training concerns. We’ve only been working with Scott for a little over a month, but the transformation in our dog has been incredible. Before training, our pup was extremely reactive to other dogs, cats, squirrels, bunnies—even some people. Walks were stressful and unpredictable, and we honestly weren’t sure things could change. Scott’s techniques have made a night-and-day difference. He not only gave us the tools to manage our dog’s reactivity, but also taught us how to build calm, consistent habits that stick. Scott has been a wonderful trainer for my Jack Russell "Terrorist", Waylon. Before working with Scott, Waylon really struggled with aggression towards other dogs, jumping on people when they come into the house, & leash walking meltdowns which included going bananas at any cars or bicycles going by. Scott's approach has been patient and tailored towards Waylon's fiery personality.

Since working with Scott, Waylon has greatly improved leash walking, greeting people with better non-jumping manners, and made lot of progress in how he interacts with other dogs. What I appreciate most is that Scott doesn’t just train the dog—he teaches the human, too. He broke things down in a way that was easy to understand and gave me the confidence to keep reinforcing good habits at home.

If you’re looking for someone who truly understands dogs (and their humans), I highly recommend Scott. Waylon may still have a mischievous streak, but thanks to Scott, he’s a much happier and better-behaved pup—and I’m a much less stressed owner!

At the time we called Scott, we thought we'd lost control of Boris, who was so extremely aggressive we were not sure how we could go on. All that is changed now. Boris is SO much better, calmer and just as energetic and loving as ever. I can not overstate how much we owe Scott for his amazing work. We had tried several other techniques and methods over the years and we thought it was a lost cause. Scott really saved us.

We have had the pleasure of working with Scott for our dog, Lola, and the experience has been nothing short of amazing! Despite only having met with Scott twice, the results have been incredible. Scott not only focused on training Lola but also emphasized the importance of training us as owners to interact with her effectively. Lola can be quite reactive which was making us nervous about having people over or bringing her in public. Scott explained how changing our interactions with her could help her feel more at ease and trust that everything is under control.

One of the most impressive moments was when Scott showed us a technique to stop Lola from pulling on her leash. Within just five minutes, she was listening and walking beautifully. Scott seems to know exactly how our puppy Hazel operates. She becomes a totally obedient girl with his methods, despite her crazy Lab puppy energy. The walking and leash training has helped us exponentially. I can walk Hazel myself without feeling like I can’t control her. Scott always comes with new ideas when I feel like Hazel isn’t responding to me. I am looking forward to watching all the progress she continues to make (because she still is a crazy lab puppy).

My trainer, Scott, was incredible! He took the time to listen to all my concerns and explained his training technique very clearly. We practiced these training methods on our first meeting and my dog, Luna, did fantastic! She was like a different dog. I already feel so excited for my dog and our relationship going forward. It has always been stressful to take her outside because she can be reactive towards other dogs. I avoid having people over to my home because Luna will jump on guests and misbehave. We made huge strides in such a short amount of time. I am excited to continue working with Scott and my dog to further reinforce these new skills. It gives me such hope for the future! I recently adopted a cute cattle dog mix mutt named Nellie. Although adorable, Nellie was teething and her nipping and biting behavior was a nearly constant issue. It was difficult to do any sort of training with her or to even pet her and give her affection due to the constant biting. I tried all sorts of techniques from watching YouTube videos, but nothing seemed to work. Scott showed me a technique based upon how a mother dog corrects her puppies' behavior. The results were instant and dramatic. It was like Nellie was almost a different dog. I was simply amazed and very relieved after struggling for weeks with the issue. I highly recommend Scott.
