Welcome. I am Pamela Kars, your Bark Busters Dog Trainer and Dog Behavioral Therapist in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. Animals are a huge piece of my life. Here at Bark Busters my main focus is to create a positive relationship between you and your dog. Everyone loves a well-trained dog.

I have raised dogs my entire life. They bring a home so much joy. When I was young my family bred golden retrievers. I have also trained horses, another herd animal. I am an excellent animal listener. Everyone around me notices my connection with animals. My world is happiest with lots of animals in it.

My goal in working with you and your dogs is to bring harmony to your home with you and your canine companions.

In understanding how a dog thinks, learns and communicates, behavior change occurs naturally. I train at your home, with the whole family, a safe environment, creating faster and long-lasting results. Keeping it with positive methods, pain, treat and click free, using body language and voice tones.

I've had dogs my entire life and thought I was a great "pack leader" until I adopted Lupe and Rosa. I was ready to throw in the towel after 3 years of trying what I knew and what I could find online. Then I stumbled upon Pam Kars at Bark Busters. I was hesistant to sign up at first, but I needed to do something. My first session was 3 hours! Pam laid out everything we were going to work on and why, explaining how my dogs see me and their psychology. I was hoping for some instruction and some long hard practice with them afterward before I'd see anything noticeable. Boy was I wrong! Just that day alone was a significant transformation in my dogs and how they behaved. I could now walk them AND enjoy it!. Pam was there to check in and coach and support me every week and a follow up visit after 4 weeks was awesome. She coached me on something I wasn't quite doing correctly and what a difference that made. Pam is there to support me and answer questions and even come back for a visit to give hands on training. I am still on this journey, but the transformation has been nothing short of phenomenal. All it took was one lesson with Pam and my horribly behaved dogs(Steve and Tony) were like brand new dogs. They used to jump all over me, bark at everything and everyone that went by in the window, they used to pull me down the street on the leash and now those are all behaviors of the past. It’s like I got two brand new dogs out of this and the methods they used were so dog friendly. Nothing that hurts or scares the dog. Money very well spent and I would recommend Bark Busters to anyone who needs help with their dog or dogs.

Pam was wonderful to work with during a really emotional time for our family. Pam is the best! I have a rescued miniature golden-doodle that, unfortunately, was neglected for her first year. Pam has come in to help me do basic training, such as come, sit, stay, as well as how to approach Coco’s fear of the world. Pam is amazing at working around schedules and understanding a busy lifestyle. She gives you tips and tricks as well as suggestions that are extremely doable, even if you are busy. More importantly…. she knows dogs-all breeds.

Since I started with Bark Busters aka Pam, Coco’s confidence has skyrocketed! We are still working on things everyday but coming from hiding in a different room to coming up and smelling strangers/greeting them at the door I think is a huge leap in the short time we have worked with Pam. Coco’s posture, demeanor, and general happiness have all improved and it simply boils down to Pam.

About a month or so ago I moved to a new house. As you can imagine, Coco had some adjusting to do. Fence was an issue and being busy with the move/work made it hard to stay up on training (my fault). Coco started misbehaving such as not coming when called from outside or jetting out the door every once in awhile wanting to play. I told Pam and she was on it. She explained dog to me in human language and helped develop a new approach to get her back on track. We just started these new techniques last week, but they do seem to be starting to make a difference.

I would 100% recommend Pam to ANYONE for training. Whether you need basic training help, advanced help, or anywhere in between-she is your gal. If you are concerned with the price, don’t be! Initially I thought price was high, but after working with Pam I feel as if I already have gotten what I paid for. I’m only a few months in by the way, and this program can be for as long as you want/need if you follow the process. Call her today, you won’t regret and neither will your man’s best friend.

Boomer and I loved our trainer Pam. She is definitely the best and made training easy. I thought my dog was too old to be trained since he’s almost 11 and it’s shocking how much of a difference she made. We both love going on walks now (since he’s not dragging me the whole time). I’m also not fearful when I open the door he will run out and run away. Highly recommend Pam ❤️

Bindi is a BernaDoodle, very fearful of people. Walk with her were terrible, she pulled, was very reactive to other dogs, it was super stressful walking her. It was also stressful having people over. She'd bark and try to get to our visitors. Not to bite them, but she was intimidating all the same. All was really chaotic.
Lil' Man was a different story. Pulled hard on walks and was obnoxious when people would come to our house.

After the first visit once we learned what needed to be done, it all changed. We controlled both of them on both walks and when people came to our house. We also would stop them barking when people were walking in the street in front of our house.

The second visit walks got even better.

Long story short, Pam is a life saver! Even Bindi likes her and that just doesn't happen!!!

If you have issues with your pups and need help Pam is your person!!! I'd give her 10 out of 10, 100 out of a 100, you get the picture.

Pam has done a phenomenal job assisting us in training! Our 3 year old mini aussie has severe anxiety from improper breeding and lack of exposure as a young pup. We had our daughter up for Christmas and she has a dog ,Jane, that was aggressive with other dogs and an all-around jerk to strangers. We have two small "snack size" dogs that wouldn't do good with Jane. I had heard of Pam working with dogs and getting good results so I scheduled an appointment to work with our dogs and Jane so we could avoid having to kennel our dogs. Pam worked with jane and our dogs and then brought them together and we were completely surprised at the change. She showed us how to be in charge and it made all the difference in the world. We learned several other things that made our dogs so much better also. Thanks Pam. Our Daughter will be in town next week and we just remembered that we don't need to find a dog sitter this time.

Pam worked with my dog on her aggression issues with new people. She gave me a new way to communicate with Jane, some techniques I can use to work with her when there aren't people around who are willing to be guinea pigs, and some tools to snap her out of her red zone without causing her any pain. I like that all the techniques are based on dog psychology and operant conditioning. She took some of the training techniques I already use and reframed them to work on redirecting her attention away from trigger points like doors and windows.

Pam is AMAZING! I have a four year old rottweiler who has picked up a few bad habits over the years so I messaged Bark Busters for some correction. Not only were they quick to get to training but the training has been beyond what I could imagine. In just two lessons Sophie is back to listening to me. I'm learning her language and she is learning mine. I now understand her ques and the way she functions and vice versa. Pam is amazing! She was very descriptive when instructing us how to help with our pets. She covered everything from food and treats to why they do certain things they do! We absolutely loved that we weren’t using any sort of training collar or treats to help redirect our dogs or correct them. She is an amazing human and super fun to talk to! This type of training worked great for what we were looking for and what worked best with us! She was amazing with my dogs as well! Mason absolutely loves her!

We live in an apartment and my neighbor's were complaining about my dog's barking. We also have a small dog park and Barney was somewhat aggressive around the other dogs. Pam stepped in and helped me understand Barney's thought process and what to do to make him feel safe and comfortable, whether he’s home alone, in his crate, or even going for a walk. We spent a few hours together and touched base a few times afterwards. The differences in Barney’s behavior changed overnight. From there it was a matter of me being consistent with the training. Not only does Pamela have a natural born ability to work with dogs, she has a good dog training method behind her. I was desperate to stop behaviors that I had tried for almost 2 years to change. How could I resist those adorable eyes? OK. My dog was spoiled. Pam taught me how to lovingly get my point across to my puppy without losing her personality!
