Home dog training and immediate results. I provide in home dog training because this is where your dog can best focus, and where most of your dog's behavior problems occur. Importantly, I partner with you to train your dog. This means more efficient, effective, and longer-lasting outcomes for you and your dog. Together we develop a custom dog training plan to overcome your dog’s specific behavior problems. My dog training primarily involves teaching you how to properly communicate with your dog, how to lead your dog to make better decisions, and allow your canine companion to feel safe and happy in your home.

Dog-friendly methods. I do not believe dog training requires treats, but that treats should be just a treat! Also, I do not use any physical punishment or tools that cause pain. I use positive, humane dog training methods - no shock collars or clicker training.

We highly recommend Doug and Bark Busters! We have two young dogs that had a few behaviors we needed corrected. We had tried everything with our three-and-a-half-year-old Morkie. His behavior was horrendous, and it had worsened over time. We had worked with a number of trainers and tried 3 different medications for Chester, but nothing seemed to work. Then, a miracle happened, or at least that’s what we thought. We booked our initial visit with Doug at Bark Busters. I was skeptical, since nothing had worked with our dog yet. After an hour and a half of Doug working with my wife, me, and our dog, the dog exhibited a completely new personality. The barking was gone, and we were able to walk out of the house without having to lock him in a different part of the house. His anxiety levels reached a low that we had not seen since he was a pup. Yesterday was the first day in over a year and a half that we had a quiet and peaceful day and enjoyed our puppy. Needless to say, I went from a skeptic to a believer immediately. I would wholeheartedly recommend Doug and Bark Busters to anyone who’s having issues with their dog. In fact, we mentioned Bark Busters to our vet this afternoon when we were there for Chester’s shots. Doug, thank you for all that you did. I'm going to be 100% honest here. I was a bit shocked by the price and having to pay up front, but with other trainers in the area this was actually the cheaper option and didn't come with a lifetime warranty so we agreed and hoped for the best. When Doug showed up for the first training session and went over the program, I was very skeptical and thought we had wasted our time and money. The training sounded to easy to work and I thought our dogs were to stubborn and just going to ignore it. He was here for about 2 hours and we went over stay, leave it, fighting, and recall. THE CHANGES WERE IMMEDIATE!

The second session was dedicated to pulling and again we noticed drastic differences immediately in all 3 dogs! Our dogs get along much better now and we can actually take them on walks without them pulling or us having anxiety of coming across other dogs. The training plan is easy to follow and quickly became 2nd nature. I'm SO glad we went with Doug and Bark Busters. It has definitely been worth every penny!

My wife got me a surprise Christmas gift, an 8 week old puppy, Winston. It was a joy to start raising him. Unfortunately he turned out to be a very stubborn and rather rowdy Corgi. He was chewing furniture or anything else he get his teeth on including me!!! He would try to run out the door whenever it was opened ( he succeeded a few times) and barked at anyone coming by. After 7 months I found out about Bark Busters here in Louisville. When Doug arrived for our first 2 hour training session I was very hopeful. We were not disappointed. Doug had Winston minding in no time and very quickly had us trained on how to get Winston to do what we wanted him to do. In less than a week I had a new dog. "I want to let you know my experience with this company and trainer. At the beginning, I was very skeptical as they advertise that I will see improvements on the first day. I have a large breed Dogo Argentino, a strong dangerous dog designed to kill Puma and Wild Boar. I took him to puppy classes and socializing lessons but when he turned 11-13 month old, he became out of control -- very aggressive to strangers and even people or animals he knew before. So I decided to try Bark Busters. When trainer "Doug" came to my house, he told me a few things I must do before he met with Max. Magic works! It was the first time he let a stranger walk into the house. Don't be scared when you hear the price at the beginning, it is worth every penny. Plus, you get lifetime support for your dog and all the accessories required for training. I wish I went with Bark Busters when my dog was 15 weeks old and had not spent all that money for nothing. Most important, they don't use e-collars and other punishing stuff for training, only dog language. Such a happy, good experience!"

Doug is the dog whisperer. He trains the dog but educates the owner how to allow the dog to treat people. His instruction and manner are gentle and respectful and he quickly assesses the dog and situation. We have a 9 month black lab puppy that has lots of energy and loves people.
