Betty Lou Prickett and Rachel Rodgers have been close friends since 5th grade—and today, they’re proud to be professional dog trainers with Bark Busters, helping families in Mobile and Baldwin Counties build better relationships with their dogs. 

Betty Lou spent over 25 years building a successful career at the University of South Alabama, while Rachel built a 25-year career in financial services marketing in New York City, specializing in teaching and coaching leadership skills. When Rachel returned to Lower Alabama, the two friends were both ready for a more meaningful, hands-on career—one centered around their shared love of dogs. 

After experiencing Bark Busters training methods firsthand, they knew it was the right path. In 2021, they opened their Bark Busters franchise and became certified dog trainers, dedicated to helping dog owners understand canine behavior and communicate clearly with their pets.

As Bark Busters trainers, Betty Lou and Rachel specialize in in-home dog training, working directly with families to address real-life behavior challenges like barking, jumping, leash pulling, and more.

Rachel and Betty Lou are the best. Bullet just received the AKC Virtual Home Manners (VHM) Adult Dog Title. To receive the Title, Bullet had to demonstrate 10 exercises graded by an AKC virtual evaluator. The basic training Bullet received as a puppy from Rachel and Betty Lou helped Bullet earn the VHM.They teach you how to speak the dog’s language. After each session, they left a homework assignment with a video to demonstrate the skills to work on for the next training session. I am happy that I contacted Rachel and Betty Lou to help with training Bullet.

I was afraid the tactics would be cumbersome or cruel. But they're not at all. My dog picked right up on their cues and techniques. Instead of using treats for rewards, which is what I expected, they just use simple praise. We rescued a very trouble sweet girl who was afraid of everyone and saw everyone as someone who could hurt her. Highly recommend! Rachel and Betty Lou gave us tips and tools to help us work through some challenges- ie: greeting people at the door, nuisance barking, counter surfing, dog reactivity, settling, etc.. the lovely ladies with bark busters have been absolute life-savers for us. we contacted them when we started having issues with nuisance barking, territorial issues, and basic lack of control over our little loves. betty lou and rachel came to our home, and we expected they would train our dogs. nope. they actually trained us! we learned so many useful techniques that we were able to utilize with our dogs on a daily basis. they came for another visit, and we started seeing amazing progress with our dogs. betty lou and rachel are geniuses. the best part is that you get a sort of “lifetime guarantee” with their service. betty lou and rachel have been available for us any time (a lot of times 😆) when we experienced new problems, had specific questions, or decided to adopt our third dog. this training really helps you give yourself and your dogs a more positive, more structured environment. i still cannot believe the progress they’ve helped us make! their training is worth every penny. i cannot recommend them enough.

Rachel and Betty Lou are awesome! Their training methods are spot on. My Golden Retriever had become territorial and aggressive. When I tried to walk her she would pull me down, lung, growl and bark at other dogs. Walking her was miserable. With Rachel and Betty Lou's help she has returned to being my gentle angel dog.
