At Bark Busters, we believe better communication creates better behavior. Our mission is to help dogs and their humans speak the same instinctual, natural, and respectful language—building stronger, lasting relationships. That’s what changed my life as a client and what I now do every day as a trainer.

I’ve been a professional dog trainer for over six years, but dogs have been part of my life from the start. Growing up in an animal-loving family, I was drawn to helping dogs—especially those struggling to fit into our human world.

I first discovered Bark Busters when my parents hired a trainer for their two Golden Retrievers. Watching the dogs become calmer and more focused—and the household stress disappear—inspired me to become a trainer myself.

Since then, I’ve helped dog owners across Orange County with everything from basic manners to complex behavior challenges. Certified through Bark Busters and mentored by senior trainers, I use a dog-friendly, results-driven approach tailored to each dog and home.

I specialize in pet dogs, puppies, and rescues—especially those with behavioral hurdles like leash reactivity, aggression, separation anxiety, and excessive barking. I offer private training in the home, in public spaces, and virtually, with lifetime support for long-term peace of mind.

...the incredible transformation he has facilitated in our dog, Bruno. If you're having trouble deciding which dog trainer to commit to, you'll be happy you went with Bark Busters. I've tried out 4 dog trainers/training systems with varying models and strategies for dog training and I feel I am progressing the most with Johnny.

1. I like that Johnny's solutions are based on how to communicate clearly with your dog. So I don't feel like I have to be perfect when I'm working with Geralt. I just have to figure out how to be clear and effective
2. I like that the lessons are at my level. I had a dog trainer who was trying to do something unconventional and unique to stand out in the market and the lessons were SO difficult, they actually caused strife in my household. Those concepts were interesting, but were very difficult for a not full time dog trainer to implement.
3. All the homework has helped me bond with my dog, improved all aspects of our daily activities, and has not felt burdensome/difficult
4. I like also that Johnny contemplates my dog's preferences and personality, so we break lessons down according to how my dog is responding.
5. Johnny is also professional, comes on time, communicates well, and is very respectful

Johnny helped us with our 2 dogs as we transitioned into our new home. One of our dogs is super anxious and reacts by barking and gets our other dog worked up to the point where they are both always on edge. Johnny was great at showing us techniques and drills on how we can work with our dogs to help with the reactivity and anxiety. One of our dogs is not food driven so we thought this was going to be an issue but Johnny was very patient and found the reward that motivated our dog. We started with Johnny to help with our first dog, Elroy about 3 years ago. He was a 1 year rescue Pitbull with no leash manners, reactivity to people and dogs, and serious resource guarding. Our sessions with Johnny gave my wife and I confidence to know that Elroy was safe and able to work with and improve. Through the right guidance, training, and tools Elroy is now an amazing family dog who loves going hiking and enjoys going out almost anywhere with us. With much consulting with Johnny we decided Elroy was ready to bring another dog into our family, so about 7 months ago we added Apollo, a 2 month old Rottweiler. Johnny has continue to support us from introducing the dogs to each other, each stage of Apollo's puppy development, and now continued training and development for both dogs together. Johnny has been extremely supportive with any dog related questions and we love that he is able to help us with anything we want to add to our dogs skill set as well as encouraging us to try new things to enrich our dogs.

I searched for weeks for the right trainer for our (then) 6-month-old puppy and ultimately decided to go with Bark Busters. We've now been working with Johnny for several months, and our pup is doing great! He is patient with our dog, and even more patient with us as we learn how to continue training outside of training sessions. He understood that while we wanted a well-behaved dog with manners, we wanted our dog to be part of the family. He finds the perfect balance, between dog and family member, whereas other trainers and behaviorists I spoke with were advising we do not treat him as a family member (i.e. no petting unless "earned," etc.). We can't say enough great things about working with Johnny Jumper from Bark Busters! After extensive research on dog trainers, we chose Bark Busters, and we are so happy we did, as our purebred English Lab and our Labradane both needed professional training. From the minute Johnny walked into our home on Day 1, our pups connected with him and responded incredibly well to his training methods. Johnny was calm, very professional, and exuded so much patience while working with our pups. He also provided excellent tips to address behavioral issues we hadn't considered on our own. We love that Johnny used positive reinforcement and clear guidance that helped me, my husband, and our pups feel more confident. Each session was educational and it was really encouraging to see the progress in each or our pups. After only two (2) sessions, our pups stay when told, they walk on a leash without pulling, and our English Lab is counter-surfing less and not jumping on family and friends near as much as before! We are continuing to implement all of the training that Johnny taught us and we know our pups will soon be the best dogs that we can take anywhere. Johnny is literally the best and the sweetest!! My dog had always struggled with reactivity, lunging, barking, and generally being on edge around other dogs and strangers. It was stressful for both of us and embarrassing. Barney has improved so much since the first session. Obviously, it's not perfect, but it just feels so much easier. If you are considering hiring Johnny, look no further, I promise it will be the BEST DECISION you will ever make for you & your furry family member! We found Johnny looking for a dog trainer to work with our 2 German Shepherd rescues, in need of leash training due to their size/strength (90 lbs & 105 lbs) as well as in home obedience to improve their adoptability. After extensive research for a behavioral trainer with rescue dog experience, we hired Johnny based on his reviews alone! Johnny not disappoint, he far exceeded our expectations in training both GSDs, their foster parents & US! I can honestly say, with a decade of experience working with dog trainers, that Johnny is by far THE BEST! His extensive knowledge in dog psychology/ behavior & simple replicable training methods combined with his genuine love for dogs & his demeanor around them, Johnny possesses something TRULY SPECIAL that can NOT be taught. The dogs know it & seeing how they respond to his training techniques is like MAGIC happening! Our 2 GSDs both knew several commands prior to rescue, it was clear they would respond well to training but we did not expect them to light up when Johnny arrived! Both dogs completed their obedience checklist & our male GSD quickly became the King of "Place" always the 1st on his cot! Leash training to eliminate pulling was challenging at first due to their excitability of all new sights/smells as well as new found strength in recovery BUT with Johnny's persistence testing various handling gear the Figure 8 proved to the be solution. They responded so well to Johnny working with the Figure 8 lead, they were soon walking next to any handler at any pace fast or slow!! Plus, ultimately, for dog training to be successful, it is just as much training the humans to practice consistently after Johnny leaves as it is about training the dogs. That is where Johnny is in a league of his own... He is just as incredible at training the humans as the dogs! The foster mom, who has fostered close to 100 dogs & her husband were only involved with the family dogs & they had never worked with a dog trainer. After just 1 SESSION, the foster parents were not only believers in training BUT said it was life changing & are excited about practicing with ALL the dogs. The foster dad even talks about Johnny's training with everyone they know & now helps with all the foster dogs too! We've been working with Johnny for 6 months now, on and off as our needs arose with our 1 year old pup. The experience has been amazing - we saw changes in behavior before he'd even finished the consultation! He has a way with dogs that is loving and clear, and it gets results. He's also a joy to work with for us humans, too. We enlisted his help for ordinary puppy stuff like stealing and chewing things, counter surfing, and leash pulling. And also for more advanced goals like off leash recall. He knows how to address every issue effectively. What sets Johnny apart from other trainers I've known is his HUMAN skills. He is encouraging, patient, and not critical. He'll answer our questions or assuage our concerns about anything related to our dog, even if it's not training-related. He's very flexible with scheduling and excellent at communicating in person, via text, and more. We had trepidations that training wouldn't be worth the price. But 6 months in, it's been worth every penny.

My family cannot thank Johnny enough for his help. We adopted a rescue dog, we were told that he got along with cats. He and our 8-year-old cat did not get along. This was stressful for us because we had to keep the pets separated. We read books and tried everything but it wasn’t working. I called Bark Busters and they set me up with Johnny. I got my dog as a puppy with no experience, and she unfortunately got attacked at 3 months old by an off-leash pomeranian. After that, she became fear-reactive with all dogs and developed anxiety, even going out of the house. My sister also got a puppy from the same litter, and he started becoming protective of my dog, but turned into aggression and biting. Johnny educated us so much on dog body language and overall behavior. He helped me find ways to increase my dogs confidence and encouraged me to let her work through the fear without me coming to "rescue" her right away. He also helped us understand how to handle our aggressive dog and redirect him. He even brought his dog on one of our training sessions so our reactive dogs can practice being neutral. We have been working with Johnny for a year now my dog is confident now, her recall is amazing, and she follows my lead. My sister's dog has not bitten anyone in 9 months. He doesn't pull on his leash when walking, and it's much easier to redirect him when he's barking at someone walking past our house. I really like how Johnny gave us two different training methods for both of our dogs specific to their needs.

While I was in the process of selecting a trainer for our unruly and energetic border collie, I read many many reviews of other training programs. Johnny the trainer came to our home personally, met our dog and sat with our family of five for an afternoon, during which time he covered a wide range of topics, including nutrition, exercise, communication and leadership. If you're on the fence about committing to a dog trainer or unsure which one to choose, I highly recommend Bark Busters. We've been working with Johnny for a few months now, and I've seen significant improvements in my dog's behavior. Can't say enough good things about my experience working with Johnny Jumper with Bark Busters East Orange County. We adopted a rescue puppy, Joe, who is all puppy all the time with a play-all-day mentality. This annoyed and frustrated my senior dog, and she became aggressive toward him. Since he is bigger than her, it becomes a serious fear and concern. Additionally, Joe was originally abandoned in a garage and was fearful of everything, including people. After a scary scuffle between the dogs that left my senior dog's mouth bleeding, we kept the dogs separated (so much work) and started the hunt for a trainer. We connected with Johnny at Bark Busters, and he patiently came to our house for several weeks to help solve our problem. He was so kind and patient with our dogs and with me. He taught me the skills to better control my dogs and helped me be more confident. Today, my dogs get along great and even play a little. Johnny is a true animal lover with dogs of his own, and it shows in his work and patience. You will not be disappointed in his ability to help solve any dog issues you have. One last note on Bark Busters. What I liked about Bark Busters compared to other companies is that it offers a lifetime guarantee for the dog's life. Meaning, if you run into issues with your dog in the future, Johnny will come back out and help you. Also, other companies have a set number of visits to hopefully resolve your issue.
