At Bark Busters, we believe better communication creates better behavior. Our mission is to help dogs and their humans speak the same instinctual, natural, and respectful language—building stronger, lasting relationships. That’s what changed my life as a client and what I now do every day as a trainer.

I’ve been a professional dog trainer for over six years, but dogs have been part of my life from the start. Growing up in an animal-loving family, I was drawn to helping dogs—especially those struggling to fit into our human world.

I first discovered Bark Busters when my parents hired a trainer for their two Golden Retrievers. Watching the dogs become calmer and more focused—and the household stress disappear—inspired me to become a trainer myself.

Since then, I’ve helped dog owners across Orange County with everything from basic manners to complex behavior challenges. Certified through Bark Busters and mentored by senior trainers, I use a dog-friendly, results-driven approach tailored to each dog and home.

I specialize in pet dogs, puppies, and rescues—especially those with behavioral hurdles like leash reactivity, aggression, separation anxiety, and excessive barking. I offer private training in the home, in public spaces, and virtually, with lifetime support for long-term peace of mind.

...the incredible transformation he has facilitated in our dog, Bruno. If you're having trouble deciding which dog trainer to commit to, you'll be happy you went with Bark Busters. I've tried out 4 dog trainers/training systems with varying models and strategies for dog training and I feel I am progressing the most with Johnny.

1. I like that Johnny's solutions are based on how to communicate clearly with your dog. So I don't feel like I have to be perfect when I'm working with Geralt. I just have to figure out how to be clear and effective
2. I like that the lessons are at my level. I had a dog trainer who was trying to do something unconventional and unique to stand out in the market and the lessons were SO difficult, they actually caused strife in my household. Those concepts were interesting, but were very difficult for a not full time dog trainer to implement.
3. All the homework has helped me bond with my dog, improved all aspects of our daily activities, and has not felt burdensome/difficult
4. I like also that Johnny contemplates my dog's preferences and personality, so we break lessons down according to how my dog is responding.

If you are considering hiring Johnny, look no further, I promise it will be the BEST DECISION you will ever make for you & your furry family member! We found Johnny looking for a dog trainer to work with our 2 German Shepherd rescues in need of leash training due to their size/strength (90 lbs & 105 lbs) as well as in home obedience to improve their adoptability. After extensive research for a behavioral trainer with rescue dog experience, we hired Johnny based on his reviews alone! Johnny not disappoint, he far exceeded our expectations in training both GSDs, their foster parents & US! I can honestly say, with a decade of experience working with dog trainers, that Johnny is by far THE BEST! His extensive knowledge in dog psychology/ behavior & simple replicable training methods combined with his genuine love for dogs & his demeanor around them, Johnny possesses something TRULY SPECIAL that can NOT be taught. The dogs know it & seeing how they respond to his training techniques is like MAGIC happening! Our 2 GSDs both knew several commands prior to rescue, it was clear they would respond well to training but we did not expect them to light up when Johnny arrived! Both dogs completed their obedience checklist & our male GSD quickly became the King of “Place” always the 1st on his cot! Leash training to eliminate pulling was challenging at first due to their excitability of all new sights/smells as well as new found strength in recovery BUT with Johnny’s persistence testing various handling gear the Figure 8 proved to the be solution. They responded so well to Johnny working with the Figure 8 lead, they were soon walking next to any handler at any pace fast or slow!! Plus, ultimately, for dog training to be successful, it is just as much training the humans to practice consistently after Johnny leaves as it is about training the dogs. That is where Johnny is in a league of his own… He is just as incredible training the humans as the dogs! The foster mom, who has fostered close to 100 dogs & her husband was only involved with the family dogs & they had never worked with a dog trainer. Bark Busters and Johnny, our trainer is AMAZING! He takes time to listen to the client and time to get to know your pup. He was patient, caring and easy to learn from. My girl had some "issues' from previous owners (3) prior to me rescuing her. Johnny was excellent at evaluating our situation, and helping me to learn how to help my girl gain confidence, deal with some behavioral issues and relax in her new home with me. ALL of Johnny's instructions are clearly explained, and practiced while he is here. We never feel rushed, but rather that we are his only concern. Johnny has been working with our family for a little over a month and our Yuki has been progressing so quickly. Johnny is a fantastic teacher and will throughly explain the why, how, and when which is great help since I have zero knowledge on dog training. He is always available to answer my questions via text or phone. A month ago I used to see dogs off leash and they would recall their dog and they would come right back. I honestly didn't think that was possible for our little guy because he's so young but we've been able to recall him at the park today after working with Johnny yesterday. I can’t say enough about Johnny and Bark Busters East Orange. I looked for a couple of weeks for a trainer for the new border collie rescue. He is almost 3 and a super handful, he needed work and we needed some help. He was on the short list, so we took him on emotion not realizing he came with some behavior problems.
Communicating seemed to be an issue with most of the trainers I found online or from friend references; different methods, different prices, different evaluations, won’t tell you their method and the list goes on. There was a very wide divide in the pricing and what is included and guaranteed. I finally ran across Bark Busters of East Orange…I did a quick online questionnaire for them to evaluate our dog and immediately I got a response. I really liked their professional and caring attitude, explaining their methods, the price and guarantee. I did a pretty in-depth search of this company and they had top reviews.
I was told Johnny was the person the train us to train our guy. They were right! He came for an initial three-hour evaluation; he was connected with all of us and has been a text or call away with any question since that day. He makes an appointment and he is always on time and totally prepared with info from the last training. He never rushes, he is very patient, very kind and always tells you the what and why of each command. He shows you the lesson until you are confidant, you understand and can execute. You might never think of things in another view but then you say…omg, that is exactly what is happening.
I would recommend Johnny and Bark Busters East Orange, the price is inclusive until you are satisfied and believe you are in control and their guarantee is for the life of the dog. They are worldwide so you can call and have a trainer in your area. The price is very reasonable especially for what and who you get! Thank you, I ‘m wasn’t sure of our boy’s fate if not for Johnny.

WOW!!! We cannot say enough AWESOME GREAT THINGS about Johnny Jumper and Bark Busters. We had pretty heavy issues. My Mom moved in with us and we had 5 yorkies (two were a mix). Mom has sonic hearing and couldn't stand our dogs (especially the one girls) bark. We had our front living area fenced in to keep the dogs from running to the door every time someone came over, or left the house. We just added on to our house and the fencing for the dogs took away from the beauty of our home. The one dog would be the worst in barking uncontrollably and jumping on everyone who came in the house. Plus they would run out the door when it opened. There wasn't much peace at all. So let me tell you what has changed NOW.... We don't have our living area fenced in with a gate all around. We have learned to train the dogs to wait off the landing. NOW when anyone comes over the dogs do not bark and they wait off of the landing until we release them and then they nicely come up to you withOUT jumping on you to greet you. It is so much nicer. My Mom is so much happier and we are happier. The dogs are more calm with the rules and training we have learned. We have also learned to walk them on a loose leash and learned to give them free time. We learned how to call them to come to us on command and this has helped with bringing them in the house. They do not go out the door or come into our room or come out of their bed area until we release them. It is so much nicer and happier and we are forever grateful for the time and patience that Johnny from Bark Busters has given us. He even checks up on us to make sure we are doing ok. I was cautiously optimistic about hiring Bark Busters to train our beloved beasts, as I am very instant gratification minded. But after the first hour they were obeying commands I thought only possible in my dreams! It was worth every dollar and every minute spent with Johnny and i will recommend them to everyone I know with pups! We had barking door bell alarms, counter surfing and potty training along with some personal space issues that we feel confident now will quickly be resolved. Reached out for assistance from Bark Buster’s regarding our recently acquired dog from the animal shelter.

Yesterday, Johnny arrived to train “us” on training our dog. He stayed with us longer than what was allocated, allowing us to work through some behavioral problems.

When he left, we felt confident in being the pack leaders to him with all the training tools he showed and gave us.

This morning, after a goodnight of sleep, our dog who was mentally drained from his training, was tested with the “boundary” and “leave” tools provided.

We reached out to Johnny after getting a rescue dog that was ruling the roost. We were struggling to integrate him with our cat, despite being told that he got along with felines. Our new Mastiff /Great Dane mix was jumping on top of kitchen counters, stealing all food in sight, chasing our cat with a few scary snaps and we'd even suffered several walking injuries from him darting towards animals. (We've had several dogs in the past and consider ourselves athletic, this was just a whole new level of new-pup excitement). Johnny came to the rescue, giving us the skills we needed to tame our boy, and take him from Kujo to Clifford.

In all seriousness, Johnny is extremely knowledgeable and I would recommend him for any training needs, especially when you see the sweetness in a new pet and just need support gaining control. We've met with Johnny several times, and it never feels rushed. He answers every question while in person or through texts and asks just the right questions to get down to the cause of the behavior in order to create a custom plan to correct it. He is not a one-size-fits-all, do-the-same-thing-for-every-client kind of trainer. He truly listens, checks in on progress and gives actionable suggestions that will make you and your pet enjoy each other so much more. We LOVE Bark Busters. We had used them once before when we lived in a different state. When we moved, Bark Busters was right there to help us re-train our older dog in his new environment. The BEST thing about Bark Busters is that it is a ONE-TIME fee for the life of your dog. For the life of your dog you can call BB at any stage and they will be there to help. As I said earlier, we used BB in a different state, we moved, called them and they sent a new trainer.

Now that we have a brand new puppy (my gawd we forgot how much work they can be! :)) Johnny @ Bark Busters has been amazing helping us set appropriate expectations, training tips, etc. He even will help us via text between appointments, which has been not only helpful, but like having an extra support system as we are navigating puppy-hood again!
