Dog trainer takes a walk in the park with his dog

In-Home Dog Training in South Orange County!

I have been working with dogs since I was 6 years old. My family bred Boxer’s for AKC and Show. Over the time we were breeding we began spending more time training for show! This is where I got my first start, walking dogs and teaching the basics. My mother spent a lot of time teaching me how to show and pose a dog. By the time I was 9 years old I had my first Boxer, Diamond, ready for show! He did place in the top 5 and his bloodline was considered finished!

I continued working with dogs up into my early teens and twenties. I have 3 dogs - Nala, Caine, and Pongo. All three of our rescue dogs have been saved from multiple different shelters. Caine was considered aggressive and was to be an "only-dog". I worked with him over the first couple months of having him and helped transform him to the fun, dog loving Pitbull he is today. Nala is my Yellow Lab-mix, and Pongo a Beagle Pointer mix.

I have now trained hundreds of dogs, and in 2022 I received the award for top single-owner Bark Busters business operator. I have also received awards for receiving the most reviews in a year - a testament to my clients and our relationship.

With hundreds of dogs trained that means I have also taught hundreds of clients how to train and communicate with their dogs, and ultimately to live a much happier life together. I truly love what I do and enjoy teaching and working with people! I hope to have the opportunity to work with and help you!

Client Reviews

See what our clients in South OC have to say

Working with Bark Busters was a great experience. The phone consultation alone made my partner and I feel at ease. We talked for probably 40 minutes about my dog and what our issues were. She had answers for all my questions and good follow up questions for all my answers. In home training was a go!

Joshua from Bark Busters was incredible! Professional and personable to work with. After our first training session we have seen very noticeable improvements in our dogs behavior and obedience. Josh is so knowledgeable. It was obvious he is experienced, knew what he was talking about and has for a long time.

I would highly recommend dog training services with Josh and Bark Busters. Plus they offer lifetime guarantee on their services, even if you move! Worth every penny. Dog pic attached, just because she's cute
We have three small dogs of various ages that have different behavioral issues, including the owner who caused some of the issues. Joshua came in for about 3 hours and after reviewing everything started working with us with our dogs. It's amazing the change that we could see immediately. We continue to work with our new tools. 4 days in and the improvement continues. We go back and review the notes he gave us and the videos we made. He is well worth the price point.
We have a happy family with happy dogs.
Thanks!
I rescued a Miniature Pinscher and German Shepherd mix that had developed some reactivity and aggression with other family dogs and strangers. I also really wanted to get him some help with managing those behaviors and building confidence with him. After hearing from a different company who wanted to use negative reinforcements such as prong and shock collars for my dog, I was able to find BarkBusters and work one on one with Joshua, shock collars, prongs, or anything to inflict more fear were even advised against. I immediately saw a boost in confidence with my dog after our first session and since then our daily exercises have been mostly stress- free for the both of us, and my dog can continue to enjoy the outdoors. There is still a lot more work to be done, but Joshua does great and I have no doubt he will help us reach those goals.
Josh, was great explaining the reason why behind each exercise and the main issue we were solving!
Joshua provided clear and concise information easily understood and implemented for us. His techniques are simple but very effective. Also, he was very patient with all of us including my 87-year-old mom.
We spent 3 hours going over a game plan, what is wrong and starting points to work on over the next few weeks.
Very pleasant time during the session, the information was easy to grasp and put to practice.
It's amazing the training methods; Josh shows us is effective immediately.
Joshua was attentive to listening to our concerns and addressing them; but also taught us today we didn't know.
Joshua was very thorough and insightful. He was able to "read" Finley and correct the bad behavior before it escalated. Joshua was very good at teaching me how to better correct and read behaviors before they escalated. I am very hopeful after my visit with Joshua. Thank you!
Every correction was explained in good detail. We are confident in how to train our dog in the future.
Josh weas great. Clear delivery and corrections. Covered a lot in one session!
Amazing knowledge and training tips. Excited to see the results!
Lots of learning for me. The dog learned too. Which was helpful :)
Joshua is very professional and definitely understands and knows what both us (the owners) and our beloved pets need to communicate and love each other day by day. Highly highly recommended!!!!
Custom feedback, also very positive.
Josh knows what he is doing and is very pleasant to work with. Knows a lot and shares openly, patiently, and kindly.
We were very pleased with are training. Joshua was very helpful and informative. He was so patient with our dogs and us.
Joshua helped us understand how to communicate effectively with Ozzy especially with body language, tone, and posture.
We learned a lot about dog's vs human communication plus easy methods to correct behavior + calm Rex down. Also learned how to set consistent boundaries. We feel hopeful the techniques will be successful!
Josh was very good at establishing what I needed to do. Now I just need to get in a routine, so my dog becomes a good dog.
We already seen a good improvement in or dog's behavior. We have a good understanding of how to correct his behavior for the long term as well.
Helpful start to a young pappy's training and establishing proper guidance from the get-go.
Clear direct commands and instructions on redirecting our dogs.
I feel have a deeper understanding to dogs and can communicate with my pup a lot better. I am very happy with my improvement and my pups improved behavior.
Very educational!
Josh was fantastic. Knowledgeable and insightful. We started off early with our puppy and learning these principles now will change our life. Happy dog and happy owner.

Barking is one of the most common complaints we hear from dog owners in South Orange County.
