We adopted a rescue puppy, Joe, who is all puppy all the time with a play-all-day mentality. This annoyed and frustrated my senior dog, and she became aggressive toward him. He taught me the skills to better control my dogs and helped me be more confident. Today, my dogs get along great and even play a little. One last note on Bark Busters. What I liked about Bark Busters compared to other companies is that it offers a lifetime guarantee for the dog's life. We found Johnny looking for a dog trainer to work with our 2 German Shepherd rescues in need of leash training due to their size/strength (90 lbs & 105 lbs) as well as in home obedience to improve their adoptability. Johnny not disappoint, he far exceeded our expectations in training both GSDs, their foster parents & US! I can honestly say, with a decade of experience working with dog trainers, that Johnny is by far THE BEST! His extensive knowledge in dog psychology/ behavior & simple replicable training methods combined with his genuine love for dogs & his demeanor around them, Johnny possesses something TRULY SPECIAL that can NOT be taught. The dogs know it & seeing how they respond to his training techniques is like MAGIC happening! Our 2 GSDs both knew several commands prior to rescue, it was clear they would respond well to training but we did not expect them to light up when Johnny arrived! Both dogs completed their obedience checklist & our male GSD quickly became the King of “Place” always the 1st on his cot! Leash training to eliminate pulling was challenging at first due to their excitability of all new sights/smells as well as new found strength in recovery BUT with Johnny’s persistence testing various handling gear the Figure 8 proved to the be solution. They responded so well to Johnny working with the Figure 8 lead, they were soon walking next to any handler at any pace fast or slow!! Plus, ultimately, for dog training to be successful, it is just as much training the humans to practice consistently after Johnny leaves as it is about training the dogs. Bark Busters and Johnny, our trainer is AMAZING! He takes time to listen to the client and time to get to know your pup. He was patient, caring and easy to learn from. My girl had some "issues' from previous owners (3) prior to me rescuing her. Johnny was excellent at evaluating our situation, and helping me to learn how to help my girl gain confidence, deal with some behavioral issues and relax in her new home with me. ALL of Johnny's instructions are clearly explained, and practiced while he is here. We never feel rushed, but rather that we are his only concern. Each visit is productive, and addresses behaviors as they arise. Once you have established your training needs, he is readily available, quick to respond to text and make appointments to work on specific things as time goes on. Johnny is a fantastic teacher and will throughly explain the why, how, and when which is great help since I have zero knowledge on dog training. He is always available to answer my questions via text or phone. A month ago I used to see dogs off leash and they would recall their dog and they would come right back. I honestly didn't think that was possible for our little guy because he's so young but we've been able to recall him at the park today after working with Johnny yesterday. Its amazing and so fufilling to see my dog accomplish so much in such a short time. If you're looking for knowledgeable, patient, and kind and really an overall great guy. He is almost 3 and a super handful, he needed work and we needed some help. He was on the short list, so we took him on emotion not realizing he came with some behavior problems.
Communicating seemed to be an issue with most of the trainers I found online or from friend references; different methods, different prices, different evaluations, won’t tell you their method and the list goes on. There was a very wide divide in the pricing and what is included and guaranteed. I finally ran across Bark Busters of East Orange…I did a quick online questionnaire for them to evaluate our dog and immediately I got a response. I really liked their professional and caring attitude, explaining their methods, the price and guarantee. I did a pretty in-depth search of this company and they had top reviews.
I was told Johnny was the person the train us to train our guy. They were right! He came for an initial three-hour evaluation; he was connected with all of us and has been a text or call away with any question since that day. He makes an appointment and he is always on time and totally prepared with info from the last training. He never rushes, he is very patient, very kind and always tells you the what and why of each command. He shows you the lesson until you are confidant, you understand and can execute. You might never think of things in another view but then you say…omg, that is exactly what is happening.
I would recommend Johnny and Bark Busters East Orange, the price is inclusive until you are satisfied and believe you are in control and their guarantee is for the life of the dog. They are worldwide so you can call and have a trainer in your area. The price is very reasonable especially for what and who you get! Thank you, I ‘m wasn’t sure of our boy’s fate if not for Johnny.
Johnny spent well over his time to make sure he and I discussed what my specific issues were. We also practiced training and he is very knowledgeable and I can always text if I have questions or need help . He is very helpful!
