Welcome to Bark Busters Home Dog Training! I am Jeri Wagner, a certified Bark Busters behavioral therapist and master trainer serving western Montgomery County, northern Chester County and parts of Berks County.

I am a certified Canine Good Citizens Evaluator for the American Kennel Club, an associate member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP), a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), a supporting member of International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), an Emergency Responder for the Montgomery County Animal Response Team (MCART), and a Board of Director member for 9 years at  To Love a Canine Rescue, Inc.,

I have been an avid dog lover and owner my entire life and wanted to share that passion with other people. When I was given the opportunity to work with dogs and their families I jumped at it. I'm happy I found a career in which I can help other people enjoy the dogs in their lives. Prior to joining Bark Busters I worked as an advertising and marketing manager for national and international corporations. I live in Montgomery County with my human family and our adopted 11 year old Staffordshire Bull terrier, Diamond.

I help my clients become "the leader" using dog-friendly, non-food based techniques (no shock collars or harsh methods ever!). My goal is for your dog to love and respect you, not fear you. I will work with you to address issues such as housebreaking, separation anxiety, aggression, jumping, puppy manners, walking on leash, and much more. I can help any breed, any age, any issue! You'll be amazed at what your dog will be able to do once you learn to "speak dog". All this takes is a personal commitment of 20 minutes a day for 5 weeks. If you are consistent, the behavioral changes will be permanent.

In-Home Training: I come to your home, where most dogs’ issues occur. I start in the home but all outdoor training is included too. Being in a familiar environment where there is nothing competing for your dog's attention enables us to address the issues more directly. Expensive "boot camps" or sleep away training are not effective in my opinion because your dog needs to respect and listen to you in your home, not a trainer at some facility.

Personalized Dog Training Programs: I develop a personalized one-on-one program for you based on your dog's particular personality, perspective and your goals. You will learn how to read your dog's reactions and adjust your communication as needed depending on how your dog is responding

Positive Dog Training: No shock collars, choke collars, pinning, intimidation or clickers. Unlike some trainers, I never use harsh techniques or bribe with food to extort good behavior. Our dog training focuses on using dogs' natural instincts to work toward a win-win situation for you and your dog. Trust, clear communication and understanding produce longer lasting results than treat training or force.

Dogs don't understand English any better than Italian. It's no wonder they can't immediately understand your verbal commands. You should learn your dog's language not the other way around. This is especially true if your dog is stressed or seems resistant to what you have already tried. I will teach you to communicate using the language your dog already understands. You will learn how to use your body language and voice tones to get your dog to focus on you and respond to your directions. It’s really amazing for both you and your dog when you can finally understand what each other want!

We have difficult issues with our German Shepherd rescue - severe reactivity, anxiety, with some aggressive behaviors. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised how well Sage responded to the techniques Jeri showed us. Jeri was patient and kind and encouraged us to believe Sage can be a good dog. We have been using our training for less than 24 hours and she is already a different dog. We are very hopeful that this will change her behavior long-term. She can be a very sweet dog...when she isn't being bad! We very much appreciate the goal of getting rid of the chaos and bringing a peaceful environment back to our home through a simplified and positive training approach. Kodhi is a very sweet 2 year old who thinks everyone, humans and other dogs, enjoy being jumped on and barked at. Our most urgent need was to have her aggressive possessive issues handled. We worked with angie after Jeri left and for the most part she would let go of the item she wanted with the Bah and come come come method. Jeri helped us understand the difference between bribing our dogs with treats and teaching them to do what we ask them to do. We used Jeri 14 years ago with our golden who showed aggressive tendencies, and she really helped us developed some great skills and tools to help us. We recently adopted two sibling senior dogs who are absolutely wonderful; just needed help in a few areas. Jeri is extremely thoughtful and polite, really understands and listens to your needs and explains everything in great detail. I love how everything that was discussed in the first meeting was then handed back to us in printed form so we can keep reviewing our notes. The weekly emails were super helpful. Our dogs quickly picked up on the commands and in no time we were able to correct some of the behaviors we were working on.

Jeri was always available to talk or email when needed. I never felt like I was training alone.

The first lesson with Jeri outlined the training process and established responsibility for using the bark buster technique for modifying dog behavior. After just one lesson I could see improvement in my puppy’s behavior. Some of my dog’s behavior will be difficult to modify because of physical limitations, but I’m confident in the long run that consistently using the program will yield the desired result. My 10 month old Shiba mix has some bad habits. Even though I've always had dogs, he has a big different personality. Hubie basically had control over me. Jeri was amazing during our first lesson. I felt like I was back in school due to the training course Jeri had planned with me. It was great to learn new ways to ensure I was the pack leader. I recently adopted a 5 yr old puppy mill mama named Laika who has been very traumatized from living in a crate in a barn for her entire life with no experience in the outside world. Recently we took in a rehomed dog (who is a love), but there have been issues with aggression between a couple of my dogs. We have been at our wits end trying to manage the situation. We were referred to Jeri and BarkBusters. The response back was very quick and Jeri worked with us to schedule quickly. Jeri spent 4+ hours with us teaching us about the dogs behavior and how we need to be the leader. We learned many training exercises and started seeing successes while Jeri was with us. Jeri has helped my husband and I SOO much become better leaders for our dogs, Copper (2-year-old Bernedoodle) and Blossom (1 year old Bernese Mountain dog). She is so kind, inciteful, and very quick to respond. We recently adopted Blossom, who did not seem to have any prior training before us. We have working on her walking on a leash, not jumping up, not chewing everything she can get her mouth on, being more patient, and recall. Copper only really needed work on not jumping up and better recall. They both have excelled SO much with Jeri's lesson plan that she has provided us with! Not only has this taught us more about our dogs, but also about us and we have been shaped into better leaders for them. It's only been two months since we started training with Jeri, but I cannot wait to see how much better they will be by the end of the year. Highly recommend!!

Thelma is a 6 year old black lab/pit bull mix that we adopted 2 years ago. Thelma is very well trained except for leash walking. We have tried many methods to train Thelma, but we were unable to control her sudden aggressive lunges when passing other dogs while walking. Thelma is a very powerful 75-pound dog who is extremely difficult to hold back. Her sudden lunges have resulted in a couple falls and one dislocated shoulder
Our vet recommended Jeri Wagner of Bark Busters. During Jeri’s initial visit, she taught us a number of leadership and communication exercises that immediately corrected the undesirable behaviors. Jeri also identified a few other undesirable behaviors that we were able to correct. For example, Thelma would run past me on the steps and push through the door as soon it opened. Now, Thelma always follows at least two steps behind me on the stairs, never passing me; and she waits away from the door until I tell her to enter or exit. When walking, Thelma stay precisely at my side with her collar never passing my leg. She stays on my right side when walking, never crossing in front or behind. She doesn’t try to charge ahead or lag behind to smell the flowers. After one week of me implementing changes recommended by Bark Buster, Thelma doesn’t charge at dogs, but she is definitely alert when passing. I expect, as long as I consistently follow the training schedule Jeri Wagner developed for us, that Thelma will soon be passing strange dogs as calmly as she currently passes walkers, joggers and bike riders.
I am very excited about the progress Thelma has made after only one week. Calling Bark Busters was the best decision I made regarding Thelma.
