Highly Recommend Bark Busters and James!
We couldn’t be happier with our decision to work with Bark Busters, and specifically with James here in Bluffton, SC!
My husband and I adopted our Anatolian Shepherd Mix from a shelter when he was 6 months old. He is now 1 year and 1 month old, and he is the very first dog we’ve ever had with such a dominant, highly protective, and territorial personality. He has a strong instinct to guard us, which was a completely new experience for us to manage. We didn't want to change his natural personality, but we desperately wanted to understand him better and correct certain behaviors so we could handle him properly.
Based on the amazing reviews online, we decided to give Bark Busters a try. To be honest, we were a bit hesitant at first. Since this was all so new to us, we wondered if it would actually work and how things would go. However, we realized that understanding him was the best thing we could do for his own well-being. Looking back, we are SO glad we made that choice!
We’ve already achieved incredible results, and although the biggest part of the foundation is done, we are continuing our training journey with them. Our relationship with our dog has improved drastically, and we now truly understand how he thinks and communicates.
Our advice to anyone reading this: Do not wait until behavioral issues become severe! This journey is truly for everyone. It’s not just about fixing problems; it’s about learning how to communicate with your dog and building a deeper connection with them.
A huge shoutout to James! He is a wonderful, super friendly, and helpful person. We absolutely love the way he works with our dog, Kylo, and how he approaches both him and us as owners.

I was very skeptical when he said that my dog would start listening and obeying right away just on the first visit with him. To my surprise he wasn't kidding. This is a training program that is well worth it. He's got the tools and techniques that are crucial to your dogs learning progress. I've had a few visits in the past few months and my dog has made so much progress. Although I have to say you have to be patient, consistent and committed to putting in the work with your dog. It will not happen overnight. I thought an appointment every 2-3 weeks was too long. But that gives you the time to work with your dog on the assignment given, so he or she is ready for the next step. I would definitely recommend Bark Busters Home Dog Training as your new dog trainer. The best part about it is if you come across something that needs to be corrected with your dog down the road, they are always going to be there for you.

What I love most, he tailors the training according to your needs rather than expecting you to adjust to their expectations. I believe Bella and I have formed a deeper bond because of James knowledge and support. I can confidently say that Bella is on the right path to becoming a well behaved companion. I trained with James to help with my fearful/anxious GSD rescue, Daphne, and she has made incredible progress! I really appreciated the personalized training recommendations and plans for practice at home and follow up by James. She now is okay with meeting new people in our home and has began to bond with friends who we have over more often!
James has been absolutely incredible! This has been the most life-changing experience I’ve ever had. My dog, Beto (a 100lb Vizsla mix), was extremely dog-reactive, would charge at people who caught him by surprise, whine all the time for attention, and demand that I play with him. I felt like I owed him all of my time, when in reality, that wasn’t the case. I’ve cried countless times when it would get so overwhelming to go on a walk and have him pull me across the street because he saw a dog he wanted to react to. After just one training session, he stopped whining and demanding my attention. He has not lunged at a dog or person once, and his demeanor has completely changed. He no longer jumps up at guests who come to my house, and he has learned to respect my personal space. I cannot thank James enough.
I’ve always had issues with my usually sweet-natured poodle barking at everything, not giving visitors space in our home, and barking at people/dogs while on leash. After working with 3 dog “ trainers,” I tried Bark Buster behavioral therapist, James, and he successfully taught me how to manage/stop my pup’s unwanted behaviors in just 2 sessions! James was very calm, friendly, and encouraging. Directions were clear and his tools worked beautifully. Totally recommend!!!
James’s wealth of knowledge of dog packs as well as human packs in relation to their animals is tremendous. His fairly simple skills,he taught us how to interact as pack leaders with our animals. His skills have made a more harmonious environment and interaction with our dogs. After our first home visit , our dogs responded immediately to all the skills we learned from James. We love that this training will last a lifetime with our pets. As our pets age,
if any problems should arise, we can call James and address any current issues that may occur. This was money well spent for the future of our pets. Thank you.
Who you gonna call? Bark Busters! No seriously, you won’t regret it. Our little Sully was a scared shelter dog whose “bark” was bigger than his bite. After ONE session, James gave us 3 simple skills we needed to regain ownership. These simple skills are now applied in so many different settings - during walks, meeting new dogs, and encountering children. We are well on our way to become the best dog owner for Sully! Thank you!
I've had German Shepherds all my life, but my current one is so energetic and out of control, I was almost thinking about getting rid of her. But just one day with Bark Busters and she is a new dog. I thought it would be a long drawn out process, but after just one session, we were able to address nearly every issue she was having. Also, the follow-ups are incredible. I am now completely confident that not only will my dog be an excellent companion, she will be the best trained dog I've ever owned.

I've had German Shepherds all my life, but my current one is so energetic and out of control, I was almost thinking about getting rid of her. But just one day with Bark Busters and she is a new dog. I thought it would be a long drawn out process, but after just one session, we were able to address nearly every issue she was having. Also, the follow-ups are incredible. I am now completely confident that not only will my dog be an excellent companion, she will be the best trained dog I've ever owned.
