Welcome. Meet Stan Murray, your Bark Busters Dog Trainer and Dog Behavioral Therapist in Springfield. Since joining Bark Busters in 2009, Stan has worked with thousands of dogs and owners to improve their lives. Whether you are experiencing challenging behavior issues, welcoming a puppy to your family, or just want a better-behaved companion Stan can help.

In home dog training. Your dog is most comfortable in his normal environment. Stan comes to your home to work with you, your family and your dog where the problems most often occur. He is happy to share his knowledge and experience to help bring calm to the chaos. Stan says, “One of the reasons I enjoy in-home training is being able to see all the variables that are impacting the dog and the people. I can help reduce the ones that have a negative effect and speed up the training process as much as possible.”

Dog-friendly training methods. Since much unwanted behavior is a relationship and/or communication problem, Stan focuses on strengthening the bond, trust and respect between owner and dog. You’ll be happy to know that neither bribery nor coercion is required to help your dog understand your expectations. Stan doesn’t recommend the use of prong collars, shock collars, or any practice, exercise or technique that interferes with a positive relationship. By the same token, you won’t have to use a treat to get your dog to perform an exercise or respond to a command.

Customized approach. Stan customizes the training process to meet your specific situation. Dogs with fearful personalities require a different approach than those with confident or assertive personalities. Sometimes people in the home have a different relationship to the dog than others in the same household. Some owners are dog-experienced and dog-educated. Others may be dealing with a dog for the first time. Stan quickly assesses the situation and focuses on your success. Many owners experience remarkable results during the first lesson. Puppy training. Puppies come to us with many behaviors related to being young, undisciplined and alone. Stan will help you speed up the learning and maturing process. We are so thankful for Stan. We have worked with Stan for several years on a variety of behavior issues concerning a number of different canine companions. Although we have several dogs all with different temperaments and behavior issues, he is able to analyze the behavior in the context of the environment and provides very helpful insight and suggestions for changing behaviors. Maggie lived on the streets for 3 weeks at 7 months of age. She had several issues - trust, chasing cars, growling at people and basic commands. Since working with Stan she is a different dog. Stan really understands dog behavior and is able to explain it in a way that is completely understandable. His work with my new puppy is making my life with her a very happy experience . My advice: Call Stan to get your puppy started out right. Forget the classes at the local Pet Shop they do not address the real issues. Having a loving , well behaved companion dog for 16-20 years is worth much, much more than a Barkbusters Life Time contract. Barkbusters is a real value!!!!

We have had 2 dogs which we raised from pups. They lived long and happy lives. We went to Pet Smart one Sat for cat food and my wife walked out with a rescue dog. Best guess on our Fenway was 1 year to 18 months old. After a couple of weeks it became extremely clear to me that I had no experience training our new member.

About a month earlier we visited some friends who own a Weimaraner named Berlin. We hadn't visited their home for about 3 months prior. Upon entering their home, I was anticipating getting jumped on by this 100 pound high energy dog. Much to my amazement Berlin came up to us at the door sniffed us and went on is way. Long story short I was shocked. He wasn't the same dog.

Anyway they told us about Stan and Bark Busters.

We started working with Stan, Correction... He started working with us and Fenway. He based his training on one basic command and builds the training from there.

I did my research online prior to Stan and realized I did not want a robot dog. We are pre retirement and want Fen to travel with us. Again I don't want a robot dog but one that will respond to our requests.

After 4 months with Stan our dog is doing great. He or we still need to do a few things but we have time. If we need Stan's advice its as simple as a phone call and he comes over. Aside from the training, Stan is extremely knowledgeable about other situations available that benefit our dog. An example. To sharpen Fen's social skills, Stan suggested taking him to Bass Pro and start him with sitting near the main entrance to expose him to the different situations of people entering the store. The next set is to take Fenway inside for some shopping. We had no idea things like this are available.

From Fenway's being extremely anxious/hyperactivity at the beginning to him sitting and staying at meal time and a lot more. It was money well spent. Obedient dog equals stress-free dog owner
