Home Dog Training in Boston North!

Welcome, I am Kayla Corey, your Bark Busters dog trainer and behavioral therapist in Boston North. As a former Bark Busters client myself, I'm excited and passionate about helping you develop a balanced and respectful relationship with your dog!

I've had dogs all my life. After having some sibling rivalry issues with two female dogs and called Bark Busters for help - I saw immediate changes in their behavior using the Bark Busters methods. I was so impressed I knew I needed to follow my passion and become a Bark Busters dog behavioral therapist!

After years of working with west coast families and their dogs, I've returned back to the east coast. Now living and working near my hometown, I can help families from Northern Boston to Southern New Hampshire, and along the Mass and NH coast, to live happier lives together with their dogs!

Any Breed. Any Age. Any Issue. We're here to help.

Our nurturing, dog-friendly approach teaches pet parents the same natural communication methods that dogs understand instinctively – all in the safe, comfortable environment of your own home. And, our efficient, results-oriented training program prioritizes clear communication and leadership while addressing issues in the locations they occur. This means faster, longer-lasting solutions for you and your dog.

...[Kayla] showed us that she not only helps train the dog, but also the puppy parents. In only a few lessons/meetings, Bear is starting to understand what he is supposed to be doing and we, as the puppy parents, are excited to see the changes in him as well as the willingness to learn. She’s helping us correct the bad behaviors with love and encouragement, rather than punishment or negative reinforcements. Kayla connected with Bear and our whole family and we look forward to learning how to help him. Overall, Kayla has brought out the best in Bear and is helping us to understand him a little better. Training doesn’t have to be a negative, difficult situation. Kayla made it fun and interesting and showed us the importance of taking an active role in Bear’s training (puppy parents get homework too!). We have loved the times working with Kayla. And more importantly, Bear does too!
...Our dog struggled with leash pulling, and after working with Kayla we’ve seen such a big improvement. She explains things in a way that actually makes sense and makes training fun. We’re so grateful for her help and couldn’t recommend her more!
We are so happy with Bark Busters and especially our trainer Kayla! She has been so great. Full of information and techniques and very encouraging to both my husband and I and our dog. We have a Bernese who definitely struggled with certain behaviors and after just a couple of weeks we are already seeing an improvement in him. We couldn’t believe it!! Kayla is wonderful, so knowledgeable and supportive. I highly recommend!!
Yesterday we had our first session with Kayla and couldn't be happier. She really took the time to get to know our dogs (and us), to understand our challenges and goals, and to put together a comprehensive, customized plan to help us reach them. In just a few hours we saw a huge shift in our dogs' behavior thanks to her and Bark Busters' innovative training methods. I would highly recommend Kayla!
Kayla is awesome! I recently adopted an Iggy (Piper) who is 3-1/2 months young. She’s extremely energetic, not potty trained and bites everything and everyone due to teething but couldn’t be any cuter. I met with Kayla for several hours. She provided great information, suggestions, is patient and extremely diligent in checking in with me to see how things are going. I’m a work in progress (hard giving tough love by not running to get her every time she whines, but I’m getting better:). Additionally, Piper is getting better with going potty outdoors and when she tries biting, by redirecting her, she refocuses and stops biting.). I highly recommend Kayla for your training needs.
Bark Busters has completely changed the way I view dog training. I’ve had the chance to observe their methods in action, and the results truly speak for themselves. What sets them apart is their focus on behavior-based training rather than relying solely on treats, clickers, or obedience drills. You start seeing improvements in your dog’s behavior almost immediately.

The techniques are straightforward and easy for owners to learn and apply, which makes the entire process feel empowering—not overwhelming. It’s amazing to watch dogs become more confident and focused as they find purpose through this kind of mental engagement. They’re not just learning commands—they’re learning how to think and respond. I’d recommend Bark Busters to anyone looking for lasting, meaningful change with their dog!
Kayla is just wonderful. We have 3 dogs, one being a very special challenge. We are so impressed with his progress! Kayla has given us the tools to manage our pack and we look forward to her continued support. Highly recommend!
Kayla is a remarkable trainer! We have had our labradoodle in various training programs mostly for help with his walking skills and some dominance issues that he has. The skills she has taught us are by far the most effective. She works in real time at our house where our dog is most comfortable (and likely to act like his normal self compared to a facility we would bring him to). She will answer any and all questions! She is patient with not only our dog but with us as well. When we have reached out for follow up she is always receptive and flexible and makes herself available to come visit us again. Our dog respects her when she is with him but is also comfortable with her and shows love to herI can’t speak highly enough about her and would gladly refer her to anyone!
4 years ago we signed our dog Jack, a Rottweiler/Hound mix for at home training provided by BarkBusters. Our trainer or should I say Jacks trainer Kayla provided us weeks of training homework which we used to train Jack! 4 years later Kayla is still in contact with us for updates and answers to questions on Jacks behavior trends! Kayla is a dedicated, patient, courteous and knowledgeable trainer!! Anyone looking for a trainer then look no further than Kayla. She has been and will always be part of our family and Jacks.
Kayla from Bark Busters came to our home to help us train our new puppy Bentley. She was great, we worked on some skills at our home, then went to the park to see how he would interact with other dogs. She gave us simple commands to use with Bentley and they worked. Recently I called Kayla to come back out and help us with getting Bentley back on track. Again Kayla’s knowledge and skills were spot on. Bentley responded immediately to the commands. I would highly recommend Kayla at Bark Busters.
Kayla has been an amazing trainer for our energetic 2.5 year old dog! She gave us a detailed schedule of various exercises to strengthen our bond and establish ourselves as better leaders. We’ve seen a major improvement in his attentiveness, impulse control, and obedience. I would highly recommend her services for any dog!
We have tried a lot of things with our dog, including other training programs and medication, but training with Kayla is the first time I have felt like we have her separation anxiety under control. Kayla patiently taught us how to properly communicate with our dogs and techniques to make our fearful and reactive little lady feel safe, calm, and quiet. I learned so much from Kayla and cannot recommend her enough. She is a very clear and effective teacher and such an excellent communicator (human and canine!).
Kayla is a great trainer, is easy to work with. Follows up. Highly recommend with any dog of any age.
We recently welcomed a new fur baby into our home, and I was incredibly anxious about how our 10-year-old dog would react. When he began showing signs of distress and aggression, I felt overwhelmed and genuinely questioned whether I had made the right decision. I was nearly in tears, feeling lost and unsure of what to do.

Enter Kayla—an absolute godsend.

From the moment she walked through our door, she immediately got to work. Her calm demeanor, deep knowledge, and intuitive approach put us at ease right away. Within minutes, she was working hands-on with both dogs, helping to shift the energy and dynamics in such a positive direction. She spent over 2.5 hours with us, offering not only immediate guidance but also practical tools, tips, and even healthy treat recommendations.

Amazingly, within 24 hours of her visit, our home already feels more peaceful. Our older pup is noticeably calmer and more accepting of the new addition, and I feel empowered and hopeful moving forward.

Knowing that Kayla is available for follow-up questions and support until her next visit brings me so much comfort. She’s truly remarkable at what she does, and we couldn’t be more grateful for her help during such an emotional time.

I highly recommend her to work with you and your fur babies - don't wait as long as I did !!
Kayla at Bark Busters Home Dog Training Boston North has the perfect personality to help new dog owners gain confidence with their pup. She is kind, compassionate, fun, patient and very knowledgeable. In just a short amount of time and training we are already seeing improvement in our 4 month old puppy's behavior. He's heeling much better on the leash and not jumping up on us as much. We're feeling empowered and enjoying our little fluff ball a lot more because of Kayla. We highly recommend her.
BarkBusters is amazing! Kayla is so great to work with- she helped with my pup’s reactivity among other issues and she greatly improved my confidence when walking and working with my dog. She has decreased my anxiety and therefore my dogs as well. Can’t say enough great things! Knowing she will always be there to help whenever new things come up in my dog’s life is a bonus too. Wonderful trainer at a fantastic company
Kayla from Bark Buster came to our house and was amazing to work with. She is very knowledgeable and taught us so much, we already see an improvement after 1 day.
Kayla from Bark Busters is the real deal. She was awesome! Even after having dogs my entire life, learned and practiced so much last evening. It is absolutely true that you see a difference on the very first meeting with your dog. We've been putting in to practice all of the daily activities and exercises and are continuing to see great progress with my 2 year old mini-dachsund, Riley. Kayla is both professional and very personable. I have already recommended her to 2 of my nephews for their dogs, and do not hesitate to recommend her to anyone !
Kayla came to our home well prepared for our first visit and we saw results day one! Her knowledge combined with true compassion for helping owners help their dogs be the best they can be truly shines through. I love that we are armed with a plan and homework to work on in between visits.
Kayla was excellent - we just had our first visit and learned plenty on how to build confidence in our boy Hammy so he knows to look to us for leadership. Already seeing an improvement on our communication!
Kayla is so amazing to work with. She came to our house with our puppy and taught us so much. She answers any questions I have via text when I’m stuck on what the best thing is for our pup. She always gives honest and educated advice that I truly trust.
I had an amazing experience working with Kayla from Bark Busters! Her guidance has been incredibly helpful in teaching me how to take control and establish myself as the leader of my pack with my dogs, Nash and Bernie. Kayla’s methods were clear, effective, and easy to follow. She took the time to understand my dogs’ behaviors and provided practical strategies that made an immediate difference. Thanks to her expertise, I feel much more confident as a dog owner, and Nash and Bernie are already showing positive changes. I highly recommend Kayla to anyone looking for professional, results-driven dog training!
Working with Kayla and the bark busters training system has been an amazing experience for us and our dog! The training method has built such a close trust and bond between us and our dog. There’s a solution for everything and we always have a great time learning from Kayla - she makes it fun and is a patient and skilled teacher. The health and wellbeing of the dog is her number one priority which we fully align with her on, and she helps us not just with classic “obedience” training (although it doesn’t feel like obedience, it feels like communicating with our dog), but also nutrition and interacting with our baby and anything else we have questions on. We love our dog so much and want the best for him and Kayla is the best!
We can't recommend Kayla at Barkbusters enough! She is an excellent teacher evidenced by her training us on how to train our dog. In only a few months (even after our first session) we have already curbed several negative behaviors and learned a lot. We are eager to continue working with Kayla and Barkbusters until all negative behaviors are extinguished!
Bark busters and Kayla are the only reason we have our dog today. We rescued our dog Leo in April of 2023 and he is fear aggressive due to his trauma. We called Kayla and she came out within days of our call. After just one visit of Kayla coming Leo was a different dog! She was able to teach us everything we needed to do in order to get a loving and happy dog! We went from a dog who couldn’t even go over our families house or be around dogs to now can sleep over with his best bud Steve without us!! My husband and I owe everything to Kayla and bark busters! We are forever grateful!
Kayla is an outstanding dog trainer! We first met her in 2022 when we needed help with our dog, Bruin, after our move to the suburbs. Fast forward to 2025, with the arrival of our son, we turned to her again for guidance. Kayla was incredibly responsive and promptly scheduled our training session. Her patience and expert advice, along with practical homework assignments will absolutely improve his behavior. We can't thank her enough for her support and expertise! Highly recommend!

We are so glad we chose Bark Busters for our dog training needs. Their proven methods and personalized approach make all the difference. The support we received from Kayla has been exceptional, providing us with the tools and confidence to create a positive environment for Bruin. Knowing we have such a reliable resource for our dog's training has made our transition into family life smoother and more enjoyable. Bark Busters truly delivers results, and we couldn't be happier!

Potty training a Dachshund puppy

New Puppy? Need to Start Potty Training?

There's no way around it, potty training is essential for new puppy owners. Your puppy has not yet developed the awareness or physical capability to control bodily functions like an adult dog. Establishing a toilet training routine with puppies requires time, effort, and consistency to yield results, but don't worry Bark Busters Boston North is here to help.

Tips for Potty Training Your Pup

In addition to regular trips outside, there are six key moments to take your pup outside to potty: when they wake up, before they go to bed, when they’ve been eating or drinking, if they’re frightened or anxious, if they’re excited from play, and right after someone gets home.

I always say my number one rule with a puppy is if you don’t have eyes on them, they need to be contained. Whether that is in a playpen or a crate. You need to be able to correct the behavior in the moment so that you can redirect them to where you want them to go and then praise them afterwards.

Dogs learn by association so it will take them some time to figure out where you want them to go. The same is for teaching commands, it takes repetition for the dog to associate the command with an action!

I always use natural cleaning products and my go to for potty clean up is 50/50 water and vinegar to get the smell out. If it smells like a toilet, it must be a toilet! No need to buy expensive cleaning products.

Black labrador puppy in a crate

Should You Crate Train Your Puppy?

Yes, your puppy is instinctively a den animal. Just like a natural den in the wild, a crate provides a safe and comforting space where your pup can feel secure. When given the opportunity, puppies naturally gravitate toward a den because it brings them comfort. A crate should always be a calm, safe retreat - never a form of punishment.

A crate provides you with the opportunity to relax or get things done without constantly monitoring your puppy. It also aids in training by limiting mistakes to when you're available and ready to correct them. Since dogs instinctively avoid soiling their dens, a crate is an excellent tool for potty training as well.

Tips for Crate Training Your Puppy

  • Pick a crate that is only large enough for the puppy to stand up and turn around - any larger and he may soil a corner where he does not sleep.
  • Start to feed meals in the crate to create a positive association.
  • Give high value longer lasting treats and chews in the crate to give your dog an activity.
  • Randomly drop bite size treats in the crate without your dog knowing so they become curious and start to sniff them out!
  • Supervise your puppy for safety.

An anxious dog scratched and damaged a bathroom door due to separation anxiety.

Is Your Pup Showing Signs of Separation Anxiety?

If your dog howls, whines, barks or is destructive when you leave them, they may be suffering from separation anxiety. Separation anxiety in dogs occur when they become distressed and anxious when left alone or separated from their owners. Symptoms can materialize differently in different dogs and in different situations, but may include:

  • Excessive vocalization (howling, barking)
  • Inappropriate toileting
  • Destructive behavior (chewing, digging)
  • Excessive panting
  • Pacing and drooling

Tips for Managing Your Dog's Anxiety

  • Start creating distance inside, where your dog can see you but can’t reach you. For example, you can place your dog in a crate or behind a gate.
  • Next, practice separating from your dog in a way that they can’t see you but still know you’re nearby. For example, you could be in your bedroom with the dog outside the door. Once your dog is comfortable with this, gradually increase the time before practicing leaving the house.
  • Do not coddle your dog when they are barking, howling or whining. They could mistake this as praise and can make the behavior worse.
  • Cameras can be a helpful tool to monitor your dog while away.
  • Dog calming music can be helpful too!

Professional Dog Training Can Provide Relief
